Conquestcraft v1.0.1 - C&C inspired map

Welcome back, conqueror!

Conquestcraft is a port and reimagination of the Roblox RTS game, The Conquerors 3. It is inspired by the Command & Conquest franchise, while still maintaining its own unique vibe. It is meant to be as simple in nature as possible (simplicity is bliss), but still offering many interesting strategies, units and structures to play around with, not sacrificing quality for quantity.

Building in Conquestcraft varies drastically from Warcraft III melee. Instead of using workers, you have a menu (hero) that you can build with anywhere! The restriction, of course, is that you can only build near other structures. To bypass this, you can build Construction Yards using a Construction Soldier, which can be built anywhere with no restrictions, then building your structure in the area.

Income works differently as well. You can send any non-flying unit over to any Crystal or Super Crystal, then you can simply build a Power Plant or Nuclear Plant next to it. The limit is 1 plant per player per crystal, and this adds to your Income. You get Cash every 6 seconds, and your Income is how much cash you get in a full minute. (Oil Ships can also turn into Oil Rigs over Oil, another source of income.)

Once you have a stable income, make a Naval Shipyard, Barracks, Airport or Tank Factory, and begin your conquest! Each unit is meticulously designed to be balanced yet not unfun, with planes moving like real planes and shooting down at enemies on the ground, soldiers coming in pairs, kamikaze tanks that can blow themselves up, battleships that can siege coasts, stealth bombers that can cloak themselves, vehicles that units can enter and interact out of, and so much more.

Can't build power or nuclear plants. It either tells me they are too far away from other buildings or that there are no crystals around (which is not true). Well, had to build other buildings around first. So the plants have way shorter build range...

@DBZaddy was kind enough to lend us some terrain to use for the map, so say hello to the new 4 player / 2v2 map, Iron Tempest! (Also our first ground-only map, which means naval units are disabled.) Duke it out in this amazingly well-terrained and well-sculpted city, and hold down your front at the various chokeholds throughout the city buildings!

  1. Can't build power or nuclear plants. It either tells me they are too far away from other buildings or that there are no crystals around (which is not true). Well, had to build other buildings around first. So the plants have way shorter build range than other buildings.
  2. Switch to other buildings also has the hotkey B as the build so only the switching works.
  3. The transport plane model has an issue (collision circle?) that it is selected with drag selection even though it is very far away from the selection quadrant.
  4. Fusion Plant doesn't have a projectile.
  5. Apparently no victory condition and a red minimap ball still remains where the enemy command center was.
  6. Artillery could be moved a bit up since the cancel button appears in its place and it is moved. This happens because Sell occupies cancel's spot.
  7. Aircraft Carrier says it requires Aircraft Carriers. Not sure where to research.
Overall a neat start. Unit roles could be more diverse instead of having repetition. Random target gameplay mechanics isn't too good IMO, too much left to chance. Kind of makes you want to avoid naval units altogether.

  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
  • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.

Thanks for the review! A few things:

1) Power Plants/Nuclear Plants have different building requirements to other structures. Instead of requiring a structure nearby, they only require a unit. So you can just send a scout over to a crystal then start building the plant.
2) That should be fixed in the next patch.
3) Ditto with 2)
4) If I'm not mistaken, in the current patch its attack was removed and the turret is instead a display of "hey, this building calls down a thunder strike upon death"

7) Aircraft Carriers are currently disabled since they're a bit buggy.

Must have missed that in their description then. Sorry. However, I would suggest not just any unit, something like the C&C MCV or harvester (a special unit) to make things more interesting since simply building near a scout miles away from your base IMO feels a bit cheat mode.
