Map Description Making: Good & Bad

The Community expands and changes from time to time, and because of it we venture ourselves more into defining the very sources of the map by giving an in-depth scope of its gaming mechanics, system-based features, print-screened images, and a lot more.

This kind tutorial will help you make a Map Description sufficiently and prevents you from making mistakes that will be shown along the way.

INTRODUCTION

This is the first field that you will type into explaining the fundamentals of the game, core objectives of its play value and what kinds of systems or features it may hold. You should be specific and well descriptive on what your typing, otherwise you only wasted your time and confuse people as well.

And above all, make it decent, smooth, and good to read, not abuse your typing powers and make a massive wall of text or simple-minding words that shows your first map or so.

MULTIMEDIA

Second important part of the map description making are images and videos, since users mostly rely on print screen, you should take screenshots that very well gives meaning of the image, a fight scene, dialogue between characters, or show the full map. Just don't overdo yourself and end up taking random images that sometimes do not make sense at all.

Using this forum's Image tag is not a hard thing to do instead of dragging the link of the image on your map description, or uploading the said images on different websites. Making an album here is better than giving yourself too much work time.

CREDITS

Its purpose is to give compliments to someone who manage to help you, take information, or get imported resources. Either way all of it must be given gratitude by listing their names via forum-based or alias.

If not given a proper document, it will be rejected by the site's map submission rules.

CHANGE LOGS

The last piece of the puzzle that would soon reveal everything, This let's you explain the changes that you made from your map like fixing certain bugs up to dramatic re-inventions. This also insights people that keeps track and awaits update, to my advice I'd likely tell you to at least save a little report of work on a notepad by your change of object data in the game. That way you don't just say you made little changes, moreover explained a more expansive info.

Again be clear and attentive to what your typing.

A very detailed tutorial explaining how to and what makes up a good description and of course... a bad description. And I agree, a BB Code Tutorial would also fit to be linked at the tutorial because many viewers might attempt to make a description such as good as EotA and might wonder how to make it.

EDIT: Nicely done, Daffa. Thanks for linking that!
