Warcraft Lore Campaign Chronology Project (Community List)​

Follow Azeroth’s story — from Pre-Wars to The Last Titan, through custom campaigns faithful to official lore.

Purpose: To build a chronological list of custom campaigns that faithfully follow Warcraft’s official lore — from Pre-War eras up to The Last Titan.
This list excludes “what-if” or “alternate universe” stories.
Only canon or semi-canon projects are accepted.

Contribution Guide:
If you know of a campaign that fits chronologically but isn’t listed, reply with:

• Campaign name and author
• Approximate ADP date (or expansion period)

This makes no sense. The Last Guardian and Day of the Dragon take place during/slightly after Warcraft 1, and Lord of the Clans takes place after Warcraft 2, serving as a prequel to Warcraft 3's exodus of the horde.

Also my campaign The Path to Valour is set mostly during the events of RoC/TFT, with only the Epilogue taking place just slightly before Battle for Azeroth. Hope this helps

Based on my research, I’ve adjusted their ADP values as follows:
0 The Last Guardian — First War 10 Day of the Dragon — Second War aftermath 18 Lord of the Clans — Interwar (Between Second & Third War)
I believe this order is accurate lore-wise, but I’d love to have your confirmation or further input.

Malfurions quest is non-canon and a complete alternate history it has nothing to do with blizzard lore or it's stories. And it also takes place during the RoC Night Elf campaign roughly.

I also checked Rise of the Lich King Reanimated — since it’s an alternate storyline (non-canon / “what-if” project), it’s been removed from the chronological canon list.
Based on your notes, Shadow of Hatred, The Ashen Verdict, and author details have been updated as well.
The list is now cleaner and more consistent with the official Warcraft lore flow.

I like this list. In addition, I can say that my old campaign - Call of the Swarm - takes nearly the same time as @frostwhisper's Troll Campaign, focused on barely explored lore of Old God C'Thun. If I remember from my scrapped story, it should take place during the premise of War of Shifting Sands, which began after a non-canon war with Uldum tolvirs.

And I didn't know any Mists of Pandaria campaigns, released into the public, sadly. This is a very obscure topic for the Warcraft 3 community, for whatever reason.

Haven't looked into the rest, but I think the creator of Legacy of the Dwarves said it's either canon or semi-canon.

Originally a paid campaign for QQ, it's now available on RA216.COM.

Just out of curiosity, are the authors of those paid campaigns uploading their works to websites for free now that lots of time has passed since initial release, or is those unauthorized uploads by other people?

Regarding the list, can items such as (42 - Heart of Darkness) be removed since they are still in Map Development, and ones like (35- Sanctum of Dominion) be removed for not even being a campaign / story-based Rpg).

Edit: Might as well add WentLin's Destruction of Lordaeron and Rebirth of Quel'Thalas to the list as semi cannon/cannon events as happening post Scourge of Lordaeron and post Frozen Throne respectively.

Change the author of the Ashen Verdict listing to the actual author, Enoshima. You can add his Tides of Darkness Orc to the list too.

• Thanks for sharing this! Warlords of Draenor v2.2c is a really interesting find, since WoD-era content is one of our biggest gaps. That said, we're trying to keep the list limited to maps hosted on HiveWorkshop with English (or translated) versions, for accessibility reasons. If the map gets uploaded to Hive with at least a basic English translation/subtitles, we'd be happy to add it — noting this as "pending" for now.
  

  How about these?

• I agree with IronBladeClan here: Exodus: The Violet Gate seems to drift quite far from established lore and doesn't really fit the canon/semi-canon criteria, so we won't be adding it. Chasing the Dawn is already on the list (Semi-Canon). Fallen Hope - CtD looks more like a side/expansion story tied to Chasing the Dawn, and since it doesn't appear canon, we haven't added it for now.

  Regarding Heart of Darkness and Sanctum of Domination:
  • Heart of Darkness: Even though it's still in development, as long as it's lore/canon-aligned there's no real downside to keeping it listed — it could actually help other creators discover the project, contribute to it, or position their own work around that gap.
  • Sanctum of Domination: The "Game Type" column already exists to distinguish RPG vs Campaign entries. Even without a deep narrative, lore-referenced works like this add variety to the list, which is why we're keeping it.
