The Hive Workshop has just ordered vBulletin 4.0 which is the next release of our forum software which hopefully has significant performance improvements.
When it comes out it will take quite a while to port all our custom pages to the new system but it will happen.

Some quick updates from the Development section:

The number of pending spells was pretty much breaking even with The_Reborn_Devil helping out, so I hope that the addition of TriggerHappy187 will change the trend to a steady drop.

In the mean time, the number of pending maps seems to have slowed since the implementation of the user moderation option, but is still growing and thus I'll see what I can do about it.

Finally, we'll probably be implementing the user moderation system from maps into spells as well some time soon.

The staff has decided to get rid of the Something Else forum. It was originally designed to give people a place to spam so the other forums don't get spammed.
We don't find this forum helpful or worth moderating and have decided to get rid of it.
This does not mean that we are loosing up on moderating the Off Topic forum. As a matter of fact we have plans on making the anti spam policy stricter.

We've implemented a new map moderation system--users can vote on map approval or disapproval (sort of like the old Minimod system), but enough votes in one direction will actually cause the resource to be approved or rejected respectively. A moderator's decision will override this, but likely will not need to.

Currently, a resource needs at least 10 votes to be approved and 20 to be rejected, and 75% of the votes to be in favour of one side for the resource to be approved or rejected respectively. These numbers are semi-random and subject to change as we see the system in action.
