FRONTIER

When the new world was discovered, the people of Europe fled in droves from their poverty hoping to find their piece of fortune in the uncharted territories. Frontier is set during this time in Newfoundland and the coast of what will come to be known as Canada. You will play as the first settlers of this new land, and you will try to survive and learn to thrive in the rough conditions you will find there.

HOW TO PLAY
This map plays somewhat similar to Island Troll Tribes. Each player will control a hero which has to scavenge items from the land. With these items you can build buildings and make equipment. The ultimate goal of the game is to finish the construction of a massive church, which will be very hard to accomplish alone (although you could definitely try if you are up for a singleplayer challenge). The first team to do so wins the game. There are different modes which are selected in the start screen by the host.
  • You can switch between Team Mode and Classic Mode. In Team Mode the players are divied up into two teams, which are hostile to each other. In Classic Mode all players start neutral with each other, but can form alliances by shaking the hands of their fellow players as they find them in the world.
  • You can switch between Duo Spawn, Solo Spawn and Group Spawn. In Duo spawn every player spawns together with another random player. In Solo Spawn every player spawns alone. In Group Spawn all players spawn together, albeit from their team if the game is played in Team Mode.
  • You can switch between players spawning either on only the right island (Newfoundland), only on the left island (Canada Mainland) or on both islands. If both islands are selected and teh game mode is Team Mode, the two teams will be split up from the start of the game and can only engage in combat by sailing with a ship.

When the modes are selected the Host should click the ship, as the players will load into it and set off on their adventure. Outside of that I would much rather not explain the mechanics of the game, as half the fun of the game is figuring that out for yourselves!

The art in the loading screen is Albert Bierstadt. Among the Sierra Nevada, California, 1868.

Hey, I tried playing it with ~8 people, but we couldn't communicate well because of the weird chat system (the text messages are only visible above our character's head) and people started leaving (leave message would be useful).

I know it's an interesting premise, but I think a normal chat would be better for this type of a map. People can communicate, exchange info and help each other. Or at least set it as an option.

Additionally, the map is very large, which made it even harder to meet with other people, as no one knows where the others are. They can't even communicate a meeting point, because of no chat and pings disabled.

ADDITIONAL NECESSARY INFORMATION
  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
  • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.

Thanks for checking out the map! The proximity chat and large size of the map is intentional, and I think makes the map more fun to play, but adding a game mode with all chat toggled on is a good idea. When I get around to it I'll patch it in.

Edit: I found some time already. Its patched.

Thanks for your response! That asset scanner is a pretty nifty tool.
I have added the items as assets to this map. Is that okay?

@Su7VdeR
Please use the yellow Edit button at the bottom of your posts and add text there instead of writing one post after another of yours unless it's an important update.

Also, please do not add the resources as assets since they will be downloaded as separate files besides the map and simply write a list with or without links. See the first comment.
