A very rough Ralle news post about some breaking Warcraft news!

I was sent a picture from a Chinese presentation about Warcraft 3 patch 1.31.



More will most likely surface about what exactly is coming and what is not, but it's definitely exciting.

Lua support sounds very interesting. I wonder how that is going to work.

Patch 1.30.3 and 1.30.4 PTR Updates

With the passing of the holidays, Blizzard is back to work on releasing patches for Warcraft 3. It looks like we're starting 2019 strong with Patch 1.30.3 release the first week of January and Patch 1.30.4 now released to the PTR.

These patches include a list of balance changes and a few bugfixes. Affected by the balance changes are the Keeper of the Grove's Entrangling Roots, Alchemist's Acid Bomb, Glaive Thrower's Vorpal Glaives, Defend, and Mountain Giant.

In the last couple of months, we have reached over 100 stars on GitHub, updated our homepage, and as usual caught up with support for Warcraft 3 patches 1.30.2 and beyond.

Tool updates

• The wurst family of tools now supports the latest battle.net stable patch (1.30.2).
  
• The wurst language was updated to allow classes to contain tuple array members.
  
• Improper usage of generic types now throws proper compilation errors
  
• Attempting to access objects that are known to have already been destroyed now fails at compile time
• Fixed a bug in local optimizations which caused unexpected behavior.
  
• Wurst no longer requires JavaFX, which enables wurst builds in a wider range of java distributions.

Standard library highlights

• Merged over a dozen awesome pull requests.
  
• Added DummyCaster in addition to InstantDummyCaster for channel based spells, and spells with delayed effects.
  
• Fixed some critical bugs in HashList, HashSet and Knockback3D.
  
• We have newly-added code conventions - go align your formatting!
  
• We have begun writing in-depth package documentation

The Hive team hopes you have a good holiday season. As the end of the year nears, we wanted to look back and reflect on the great year that's been had.

• Warcraft 3: Reforged was announced by Blizzard during Blizzcon; It's slated for release in 2019
• The 2018 Warcraft 3 Invitational saw the new patches in action
• Warcraft 3's 2018 World Championships also took place this summer
• Some big events happened with our community
  • A second member of our community, MindWorX, joined Blizzard's team
    
  • We affiliated with the Warcraft 3 subreddit, r/Warcraft3
  • The Wurst scripting language has continued active development throughout the year
  • HiveWE, an independent World Editor, has been released and updated to v0.4
• Our list of hosted projects continue to grow
  • Two projects have been added to our hosted project roster, Legends of Arkain and Island Troll Tribes
    
  • There's been tons of development on the other hosted projects bringing updates both big and small
• We've hosted 15 contests in the Arena with several more ending in early 2019
  
• The Maporino! 2018 contest concluded, hosted by members Jayborino and Deltron
• Hive's Facebook and Twitter pages have been active and growing
• Our resources section continues to grow with new maps to play, resources for your projects, and tools for your editor. Here's some stats from 2018's resources:

• Lastly, I'm happy to be a new member of the staff as Multimedia Manager. I'll be helping out with social media and general graphics, such as the one above, and am excited to help out the community as it did to me in the past.

Patch 1.30.2 PTR Update #3 #4 and #5

As the whispers of Reforged continue to sweep across Azeroth, more additions to the new hosting system have been added to the current game on the Public Testing Realm. It includes various bug fixes, a few hero and race balance changes, and more host/player commands akin to some provided by bots. This should help with both host and lobby commands along with furthering personal player control of their social experiences.

In addition, there was a known bug for Reforged pre-orders not including the game. Blizzard confirmed that you'll be able to get the original game as part of the Reforged pre-order on December 1, as stated here.
