We have lots of news for you, folks! Patch 1.2 for Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty is being deployed by the end of the year, and so is World of Warcraft: Cataclysm! Read on!
Blizzard has recently released a balance patch for Starcraft II, which addressed the supposedly Terran «dominance». Chris Sigaty, Starcraft II's lead producer, was recently interviewed by PC Gamer, unveiling what's on the table for this new patch. More balance changes, chat and new features for the editor were some of the things mentioned! When asked what mods he had an eye on, Sigaty answered that «Ultimately we’re going to go a lot further with this: we are working internally on some mods to demonstrate what you can do. In the last patch we added various features to the editor to help people developing these maps; 1.20, our next major patch, will add a lot more significant features as well, as well as tools that show how to use them.»Many players from Bronze to Diamond leagues have reported that Zerg are underpowered. The recent publishing of the Top 200 Starcraft II Players of North America, in which only a few Zerg players ranked, has perhaps influenced this opinion. Sigaty replied: «That’s not actually the case. We have fewer Zerg players overall. I avoid playing Zerg as much as possible because I find them to be just more complex in general. Zerg, or rather larvae management is harder for me to deal with, so I don’t enjoy playing them as much».
Speaking of Zerg «macro» and larvae management, if your fellow administrator is allowed to comment, I was quite interested in the thread of a solo gold league player nicknamed Adam, entitled “Zerg - Balanced by Faith not by Sight”. This player not only mentions that Zerg macro might be significantly harder (something I noticed the first few times I played the race), but also the rumor of an undiscovered potential of the Zerg race that Blizzard seems to be aware of but has not yet made public and remains undiscovered by Starcraft II players!
In World of Warcraft, after the hunting for the betrayer Illidan and toppling of Lich King Arthas's Undead Scourge, players are, once more, facing a new threat: the ancient dragon aspect, Deathwing the Destroyer. Those of you who have registered an account in the Blizzard forums probably got an e-mail sent to you today. The changes mentioned by the e-mail are, by now, well known. WoW: Cataclysm is being released on December 7, as announced three days ago.
