Hit-Single - Tides of Freedom

Several weeks after the death of Lady Vashj, the rest of the naga are in a loss of their path. Some moved on, some still loyal to the cause and some have gone rouge and feral. Ladora, the daughter of Vashj, decided that the time for the naga to be unite once more is now, not only for their survival but for their future. They must let go of the past and focus on getting ready for the future.
History - This map was original a planned chapter for a campaign I've been working, but since I lost interest in addition that my PC hard reset, it was long scrapped, but one map survived. So, not wanting to waste it's fun, I decided to polish it up and finally posted it as a Hit-Single kind of map. I hope you all have fun with it in some way.

- Fixed an issue where Karina's bow didn't drop when Karina herself is killed if siding with Selena.
- Fixed an issue with the Superiority side quest.

- Added UI and some fancy add-ons.
- Riverblood Tribe can now train and attack you with Couatls.
- Fixed any remaining bugs.

- Maroonblade, Sandstrider and Riverblade now turns neutral when defeated.
- Added a few touches to the map.

Not sure what story this is supposed to be. When/how/why did Vashj die? Seems a bit coming from nowhere. Some heroes could use glow: How to add Hero Glow without Modeling However, some non-hero units have glow. Coral Durability can be researched but...

Alright, a good map that's part of an unfinished campaign.
  • Superiority sidequest completes even when you destroy a Town Hall that doesn't belong to an enemy.
  • When you side with Selena, apparently the bow doesn't drop when Karina's killed (forgot to turn on item drop when it happens, perhaps). Also makes the Royal Guard Quest fail to complete, since the door to Sea God cannot be destroyed anyways.

Alright, a good map that's part of an unfinished campaign.

  • When you side with Selena, apparently the bow doesn't drop when Karina's killed (forgot to turn on item drop when it happens, perhaps). Also makes the Royal Guard Quest fail to complete, since the door to Sea God cannot be destroyed anyways.

Wow, I just finished this map and I absolutely loved it. These types of maps are my favorites because we get to play alongside different allies, each having their own bases and armies. On top of that, each one of them had unique quests to bring them to our side. I loved it. The only thing that remained a mystery to me was that ghostly key. Not sure what it was for. Other than that, the map felt amazing, both gameplay-wise and story-wise. It's a shame this is just a map and not a whole campaign.

The key will remain a mystery tho ;) .But where did you find it?

As it was not a campaign, it was initially planned but was lost interest and completely lost the other chapters. Making a map is exhausting enough, but an entire campaign is another thing. I could ask for help to make the campaign but right now, its impossible...

  2. Coral Durability can be researched but there's no Coral Golem available.
  3. Kind of funny that Lava Spawns and Sea Revenants sleep at night.
  4. Some naga neutral camps don't have a circle of power where the hero gets the bonus attributes but if you move the hero around there she will get a point. Also, these circles don't disappear.
  5. Don't know if you can choose between Karina and Selena but if yes, it would be nice to have a way to choose without having to restart the map and go to either of them first.
  6. Units can pass through the volcano.
  7. Should block some way off the night elf zone on the water since there's a lot of empty water to explore leading to a long narrow corridor towards the necromancer.
  8. Spirit Guardians can't move over water after being summoned there. Also, they just look like Royal Guards/Myrmidons.
  9. Confusing that one of the barrels becomes vulnerable after getting the meat quest. You might definitely forget about it and not pay attention to such a weird detail. Also, the meat should be dummy runes since you can't pick any up with a full inventory.
  10. Azshara's Curse and Thunderous Strike both have the same Q hotkey.
  11. Allies attack subjugated buildings/units (Wartwood attacked red).
  12. Main quest is named Tides of War though.
Quite a nice melee campaign map with plenty optional quests with the only downside being the overall thing being 100% reliant on core game gameplay mechanics (abilities etc.).

Mind if I explain some of those issues?

1) I already added heroes glow to all heroes, maybe it doesn't work in higher versions (mine is 1.29)
2) I just wish there's a player trigger that can make upgrades unavailable (similar to the training/building available)
3) It because of AI issues. (But I did leave the Lava Spawns awake)

There is, at least in the newer patches. There can be workarounds. Like, after you finish the optional quest, you get a dummy invisible unit somewhere on the map which acts as a requirement for the upgrade/research and it can be named something like "optional quest name".

I know but IMO it's bad design. The meat could definitely be found somewhere/somehow else instead. Or if you really want it to be in a barrel, make some barrels appear afterwards because of some carriage being attacked by murlocs somewhere on the map or something. Just an idea.

Some of the quests doesn't get a completed mark even after completion.
The "Destroy a Temple of the Tide" Quest didn't work when I destroyed the enemy base at the center-bottom. But it did work after I destroyed the enemy base at the center-top. I don't know if this was because there was a specific base target or simply a bug, but the quest didn't give any indication that it was a specific target only.

Ok, I found the reason, my version was a bit outdated. I downloaded it at Aug.21, but maybe I was a few hours too early and have missed the update.

If I came off as someone trolling (which is a bit much to claim just after 2 exchange, but I won't dwell too much on it since it was my mistake anyway), sorry about that. :thumbs_up:

Hey @PMC Revenant, recently played your map and here is my humble walkthrough of it:

  • I liked the theme of your map. Seeing such a depiction of Naga civilization is rather... Odd for myself.
  • Gathering allies. I managed to get 2 out of 5(?) allies possible, cause I didn't find a way to gather more. Maybe I'm stupid or blind, but still - managed to complete this map without any issues, using only those 2 allies. Their help, well... Wasn't so helpful, actually.
  • Enemies - I think that they should try to attack you not one by one, but together. At least when you finish one of them, the 2 others will come to an agreement and some sort of "alliance" against you.
  • Overall, I liked this map - it was not hard, but not so easy thanks to the constant flame elemental spawning on the base. Like!

Due to the look of your gameplay, you played an old version, I updated the map just a few weeks ago along with new UI, fixing a few dialogue mistakes, and bug fixes. You can download the new update, bit your gameplay is still great! Thanks for playing!
