Necropolis (Optimized) Info:

  • Fixed some of the holes. Improved normals and texture wrapping in some areas.
  • Added back the pool from the BETA version by utilizing parts of the Necronage uploaded by lraccarl.



  • Uploaded.




Necropolis (4-Tiered) Info:
  • Now Has 4 Tiers.
  • Utilizes parts of the Necronage uploaded by lraccarl.



  • Deleted repetitive meshes.



  • Fixed some of the holes. Improved normals and texture wrapping in some areas.




Black Temple (Illidari, 3-Tiered) Info:
  • Created an Illidari version of the Necropolis.




  • Uploaded.




Black Temple (Illidari, 4-Tiered) Info:
  • Created an Illidari version of the 4-Tiered Necropolis.




  • Uploaded.



  • Reworked the texture wrapping.




Metropolis (Demon, 3-Tiered) Info:
  • Created a Demonic version of the Necropolis using an Outland texture.




  • Uploaded.




Metropolis (Demon, 4-Tiered) Info:
  • Created a Demonic version of the 4-Tiered Necropolis using an Outland texture.




  • Reworked some of the texture wrapping.




Metropolis (Highborne) Info:
  • Created a Highborne version of the Necropolis which can "uproot" itself from the ground.
  • Separated into three models for each upgrade because of a portrait glitch in units with the uproot ability.



  • Now has an Arcane-like Birth animation.









Metropolis (Nerubian) Info:
  • Created a Nerubian version of the Necropolis using the Ancient Ziggurat texture.




  • Uploaded.



  • Major revision such as removing the "pool".




Metropolis (Zul'Drak) Info:
  • Created a snowy Necropolis.




  • Retextured the Obelisk. Added back the spikes.



  • Fixed some Normals.

I have consistently been impressed with your work, Ultimata, but I'm going to have to pull that back a bit with this one. Let me explain.

Don't get me wrong; I love people bringing life into the unused/Beta models in the MPQs; the wrapping seems great as usual, and it fleshes out a race that really needs it ("For the Swarm!" :p) But it just really doesn't fit very much at all with not only the Nerubians, but your previous work & what already exists (Undead Necropolis). It's kinda just like your previous Ziggurat, placed in a pool. Neat, but... Eh?

//EDIT - Also, though you rationalized it with the 3-tier "armory/lumberyard", I really think, for game-balancing purposes, each racial "Town Hall" should have 3 levels.

There are several really solid ideas for a Nerubian HQ ("Lair", "Hatchery", "Aggregate", "Kingdom", "Hive Cluster", see attached Word Doc. from the Ominous Horizons mod), and it could really be taken places (anti-Pyramid with clusters of eggs? Walls made of crafted stone golems? A creative mix of the pyramidal Protoss "Nexus" plus the organic Zerg "Hive"? etc). This could really use that.

Anyway, this isn't a bad model at all; it's simple & useful. But I hope you'll take what I've said as constructive criticism (I've also voted thus in your conveniently-placed poll). Good luck!

Huh. While I like the idea (uprooting/flying buildings), and I like the historicity (Highborne! Who makes buildings for Highborne? No one. :p), I'm afraid I have to agree with others... It's rather simple. Compared to the (Beta) Necropolis you appear to have based this off of, it's just really lacking in any kind of complexity.

Perhaps as a simple flying tower, or the ground version as a farm for the Naga (bit of a reskin)... I dunno.

They're the same model, the left while "rooted", the right while "uprooted".

Still, in my opinion it looks really simple when it is "uprooted" at least compared to the "rooted" version. Not saying the "uprooted" version can't be usefull, but as far as I go I doubt I would ever use it. The "rooted" version on the other hand is awesome.

Hm, I very much like the concept of a mobile main building, I could really use a necropolis/halls of the dead/black citadel building for a Cult of the Damned map I'm making.
Though that may seem like a simple edit, the mere amount of uses for it would surely outweigh that.

About this building though, I feel it really fits naga much more than highborne elves, as I posted on your arcane sanctum model page.

These models are great. I have one question, why Nerubian Necropolis has "snow" birth anim? I mean, other Nerubian building have normal Undead birth anim, and with that snowy effect Nerubian Necroplois stands out from other nerubian buildings.
