Story:

Despite the deaths of King Llane Wrynn and Anduin Lothar during their war with the Orcs, Stormwind was victorious. The peace they had fought for will not last long, however. It was during this time that the charismatic noble, Lord Daval Prestor, rose up through the ranks, eventually becoming regent for the young King, Varian Wrynn. He convinced the people of Stormwind that their victory over the Orcs gave them the divine right to restore the Arathorian Empire. With that, he was able to galvanize everyone into another war, this time with the other Human kingdoms and renames themselves the New Arathorian Empire. He appoints the young Victor Nefarius as commander of their forces.

Their first order of business was to secure their path to the continent of Lordaeron. They went to Shadowforge City and helped rout the remaining Horde stragglers there to win the favor of the Dark Iron Dwarves. After which, Lord Daval's daughter, Katrana Prestor, had an audience with the Fire Lord masters of the Dark Irons securing their allegiance.

The next hindrance to their path were the Dwarves of the Kingdom of Ironforge. With their new Dark Iron allies, they stage a daring operation to kidnap Princess Moira Bronzebeard and hold her hostage in Shadowforge. For the sake of his daughter, King Magni was forced to stand down and let the New Arathorian armies pass through.

With their combined forces, they finally launch an invasion of the Arathi Highlands capturing several of the towns and villages. However, the forces of the Kingdom of Stromgarde led by King Thoras Trollbane himself launches a counterattack, pushing them back through the Thandol Span. King Thoras would fall in battle but his forces destroy the Thandol Span halting their enemy's advance for the time being.

After the defeat of their army, Lord Daval demanded that King Magni pledge some troops and weapons as well which the latter begrudgingly obliged. Lord Daval also wanted the Gnomes to join as well but their current leader, Gelbin Mekkatorque, was adamantly opposed. Fortunately for him, the Gnomes were about to have an election and Gelbin's opponent, Sicco Thermaplugg, was more than willing to throw Gnomeregan into a war. Lady Katrana infiltrates Gnomeregan and helps Sicco win the election. Sicco provides troops and weapons in return.

With their Dwarven and Gnomish allies, the New Arathorian forces set out to repair the Thandol Span in order to relaunch an invasion of the Lordaeron continent.

The Kingdom of Stormwind, now calling themselves the New Arathorian Empire, launches an invasion of the Arathi Highlands. King Thoras Trollbane, with his army, was able to repel the enemy but dies from his wounds. As the armies of New Arathor rebuild their forces, Prince Galen set out to find allies. He met with King Terenas Menethil of Lordaeron, who was a long time friend of his father.

King Terenas sought an audience with the Kings and envoys from the neighboring kingdoms and called for an Alliance against the threat of New Arathor. Lord Antonidas of Dalaran pledged the support of the Kirin Tor. He feared that the Regent-Lord of New Arathor, Daval Prestor, was not what he seems. King Aiden Perenolde of Alterac also pledged support fearing for the safety of his kingdom. Finally, Thane Kurdran Wildhammer of Aerie Peak and King Anasterian Sunstrider of Quel'Thalas also pledged support. Both were converned that New Arathor were going after the non-Human kingdoms as well. On the other hand, King Genn Greymane of Gilneas and Lord Admiral Daelin Proudmoore rejected the offer thinking their kingdoms would be better off their own.

The Alliance of Lordaeron is formed with King Terenas as the nominal leader. Their newly assembled army marched towards Arathi Highlands to defend it from New Arathor's own assembled army.

After rejecting King Terenas' call for an Alliance, King Genn Greymane went back to Gilneas to plan on how to deal with the armies of New Arathor should the latter reach their borders. However, the enigmatic Lord Hiram Creed and some of the nobles tried to convince him to be more proactive in the war. They reasoned that they can use the war as an opportunity to expand their own kingdom. Despite protests from the other nobles such as Lord Vincent Godfrey and Lord Darius Crowley, King Genn decided to start his own conquest.

In order to match the New Arathorian Empire and Alliance of Lordaeron, Gilneas needed allies of their own. King Genn sent envoys to the Goblin Trade Princes to make an alliance. It was Trade Prince Steamwheedle who answered his call. After sealing their pact with a contract signing, King Genn opened up Gilneas' industrial sector to the Steamwheedle Cartel who then proceeded to make weapons in haste for their campaign.

Despite his alliance with the Steamwheedle Cartel, King Genn thought that they needed more allies. After consulting with his advisers, King Genn saw the Kingdom of Alterac as an important ally thanks to their strategic location. However, King Aiden Perenolde had already pledged Alterac's support to the Alliance of Lordaeron. And so, King Genn arranged for a secret meeting with King Aiden. He convinced the latter to betray the Alliance of Lordaeron as a way of getting back at Stromgarde which was a long-time rival of Alterac. They sealed their pact with the twin marriages of their children. Prince Liam Greymane was going to marry Princess Beve Perenolde while Prince Aliden Perenolde was going to marry Princess Tess Greymane.

With their pacts sealed, the Kingdoms of Gilneas and Alterac together with the Steamwheedle Cartel prepared to enact their plan of expanding their borders while the Alliance of Lordaeron and the New Arathor Empire battle it out.

Even before the Horde was defeated and the Dark Portal was destroyed, the Burning Legion had already enacted another plan. Kil'jaeden sent his Dread Lord agents to find another way to cripple the forces of Azeroth and prepare for their invasion. The Dread Lords would infiltrate the upper echelons of the different kingdoms hoping to exploit their weakness when the time comes.

Among them was Tichondrius the Darkener, who dared infiltrate the magical Kingdom of Dalaran. He became interested in one of the members of the Council, Kel'Thuzad who secretly studied necromancy. Tichondrius eventually revealed himself to the archmage promising to teach him more about the forbidden arts. Enthusiastic at the prospect of delving into necromancy, Kel'Thuzad accepted Tichondrius' offer. They relocated to the colonies in Northrend in order to avoid the prying eyes of the Kirin Tor.

During their stay in Northrend, news regarding New Arathor's transgression back in the Eastern Kingdoms reached them. Seeing this as the perfect opportunity to strike, Tichondrius offered Kel'Thuzad the Helm of Domination augmenting his new-found abilities even further. They then preyed on the isolated Human settlements, slaughtering them before raising them into the Undead. With their Undead armies, they would also bring the Nerubian Empire into their fold. With their power base in the north solidified, Tichondrius sent Kel'Thuzad back to the Eastern Kingdoms in order to undermine its defenses to the newly established Undead Scourge.

Back in Lordaeron, the Barovs of Scholomance offered Kel'Thuzad their home as a place to train new apprentices in exchange for protection against New Arathor's armies. They were unaware however of the horrors that Kel'Thuzad plan to unleash.

Kingdom of Kul'Tiras:

As the kingdoms in the mainland become embroiled in war, Kul'Tiras remains unaffiliated. Admiral Daelin Proudmoore remains convinced that the war will not come to his shores. As far as he is concerned, it is business as usual and as such, his kingdom maintains trade with everyone.

Gurubashi Trolls:

The Jungle Trolls of Gurubashi are not concerned with the war. However, some of them have decided to join in as mercenaries whether for gore, gold, or glory.

Nerubian Empire:

Despite the destruction of their empire, a few of the surviving Nerubians ended up in the Eastern Kingdoms hired by different employers. They hope to earn the favor of their benefactors in order to garner help in reclaiming their devastated empire.

Nazjatar Empire:

The commotion in the Eastern Kingdoms have attracted the attention of the Naga. Nazjatar spies are now all over the continent observing how the war goes, hoping to take advantage for themselves.

Pandaren Empire:

A couple of adventurous Pandaren ended up getting caught in the war. Some of them join different factions hoping to end the war as soon as possible.

  • Zul'Dare (Christmas 2014) - Can choose the Kingdom of Kul Tiras when you play as Human

As the kingdoms in the mainland become embroiled in war, Kul Tiras initially remained unaffiliated. Admiral Daelin Proudmoore was convinced that the war will not come to his shores. As far as he is concerned, it was business as usual and as such, his kingdom maintained trade with everyone.

As the Alliance of Lordaeron began battling the New Arathorian Empire at Arathi Highlands, the armies of Alterac seized Thoradin's Wall from its defenders and closed it. With the main host of the Alliance cut off from their lands, the Gilnean Confederacy began its invasion. On the eastern front, the towns in the Hillsbrad Foothills fell one by one to the combined armies of Lord Hiram Creed and Prince Aliden Perenolde. Alexi Barov was killed while Weldon Barov was captured. With his only surviving heir held captive, Lord Alexei Barov of Caer Darrow defected to the Confederacy. His army was forced to join General Hath's who are camped just south of Andorhal. In Dalaran, Archmage Arugal caused havoc by summoning "wolf men" into the city forcing the Kirin Tor to deal with the infestation.

On the western front, most of Silverpine Forest is conquered by the combined armies of Lord Vincent Godfrey, Baron Silverlaine, and Prince Isiden Perenolde. They are now camped just a few days march away from Lordaeron's Capital City awaiting further orders.

Tol Barad was also attacked by the armies of the Trade King. Duke Reginald Baradin II rallied his forces against the onslaught but slowly losing control of the island fortress.

The Alliance of Lordaeron was left in a precarious position. The main host under Uther Lightbringer, King Galen Trollbane, and High Thane Kurdran Wildhammer continued to battle the armies of New Arathor but was having trouble receiving supplied with Thoradin's Wall shut and Tol Barad under siege. Falstad Wildhammer had to send supplies from Aerie Peak via Gryphons but the supply troops are constantly attacked by Forest Trolls along the way. Disgusted by the Human in-fighting, King Anasterian Sunstrider considered withdrawing Quel'thalas from the Alliance and just focus on defending its own borders but Prince Kael'thas, a member of the ruling council in Dalaran, was able to convince him otherwise for now. King Terenas Menethil II tried to negotiate with King Genn Greymane but was rebuffed.

Admiral Proudmoore became worried about the Gilnean Confederacy. Gilneas had the second strongest navy after Kul Tiras and its recent conquest on the mainland could alter the status quo on the seas as well. Kul Tiras immediately sent an envoy headed by his eldest son, Derek, to Capital City offering to help. King Terenas heartily welcomed aid from Kul Tiras. In return, Derek would have Princess Calia's hand in marriage while Admral Proudmoore's daughter, Jaina, would eventually marry the Crown Prince of Lordaeron, Arthas.

In Ironforge, King Magni Bronzebeard suddenly dies. The official report is that he died of natural causes but others still suspected foul play. As the kingdom mourns, Princess Moira suddenly arrived escorted by an army of Dark Iron Dwarves. While the people were initially happy with the princess' safe return, they were shocked when she announced that she was marrying Emperor Dagran Thaurissan in order to unite the Kingdoms of Ironforge and Shadowforge. Many were appalled by the announcement and even suggested that the princess has been ensorcelled. Among them were her own uncles, Muradin and Brann. In response, Empress Moira brands them and their followers as traitors who wanted to seize power for themselves. Before they can be apprehended however, Muradin and the rest fled.

In Gnomeregan, High Tinker Sicco Thermaplugg restored the monarchy styling himself as King of Gnomeregan. With New Arathor's backing, he violently put down any dissent. Gelbin Mekkatorque tried to launch a coup d'état but was forced out of Gnomeregan by the combined forces of the Gnomeregan Royal Army and New Arathor.

With both of them on the run from their own kingdoms, Muradin and Gelbin joined forces and gathered their loyalists in the Wetlands. From there, they fled towards Kul Tiras via Gnomish submarines. Admiral Proudmoore was shocked by the sudden arrival of Dwarven and Gnomish refugees into his kingdom. Gelbin promised to augment the forces of Kul Tiras in return for sanctuary to which Admiral Proudmoore agreed. Muradin petitioned further that Kul Tiras help them liberate Ironforge and Gnomeregan from New Arathor and its puppet governments but Admiral Proudmoore refused given that they already have to deal with the Gilnean Confederacy. Muradin threatened to leave but Gelbin was able to convince both sides to a compromise. The Dwarves and Gnomes will help Kul Tiras against the Gilnean Confederacy. Only after the Gilnean Confederacy is dealt with will Kul Tiras help the Dwarves and the Gnomes liberate their homelands.

With Dwarves and Gnomes added to their ranks, Admiral Proudmoore divided his forces into four. One is sent to assist Tol Barad in its defense. One is sent to Southshore in order to liberate it. One is sent to harass Goblin ships coming from Kezan. The final one is sent to attack Zul'Dare where Goblins have set up factories.

  • Proudmoore Harbor (Easter 2015) - Can choose the Axis of Awful when you play as Orc

With Tirassian support, Muradin Bronzebeard and Gelbin Mekkatorque along with their supporters made landfall on the shore of the Wetlands. They set up Proudmoore Harbor, in honor of the ruling family of their newly allied Human kingdom.

Eventually, the New Arathorian Empire caught wind of the Resistance consolidating its hold on the Wetlands. Unable to spare troops due to the heavy fighting in the Arathi Highlands against the Alliance of Lordaeron, they had to look for other ways to combat the growing threat on their western front.

Onyxia saw potential in the disparate mongrel races scattered throughout the immediate region. With promises of power and new lands, she was able to rally them into a force to be reckoned with. This new group began calling themselves the Axis of Awful, much to the Black Dragonflight’s chagrin. The Axis of Awful was then ordered to march on the Resistance forces to either crush them or at least hold them off until New Arathorian troops could be freed up from fighting in the Arathi Highlands.

Story:

When Gul'Dan and Cho'gall took a third of the Horde's army west out into the sea, Infinite Dragons in disguise advised Doomhammer not to go after them and instead, continue pressing on towards the Capital City. Despite the valiant efforts of its defenders, the city was eventually overrun by the Horde. While his warriors were busy consolidating their territory and pursuing the escaping civilians, Doomhammer received reports that remnants of the Alliance's army were gathering at Stromgarde. With that knowledge, he planned his next move.

Doomhammer marched his army toward Alterac City only to find the city sacked and its treacherous nobles executed. He decided to set up camp in the ruined city for his attack upcoming attack on Stromgarde. His warriors were able to round up some Perenolde loyalists. He then commanded them to join up with the fleeing refugees and infiltrate the other remaining kingdoms in exchange for their lives. His warriors would also find the exiled Frostwolves hiding in a valley. Doomhammer went there to ask Durotan personally to join his conquest of the continent but the latter refused. Durotan called out Doomhammer on his genocidal campaign and told him that he was no better than Gul'Dan and Blackhand. Despite their refusal to join, Doomhammer decided to leave the Frostwolves in peace.

Meanwhile in Quel'thalas, Zul'jin and his detachment was able to breach Silvermoon. With the help of Gul'dan's Death Knight who remained under his command, they were able to overpower the city's defenders. As they began to slaughter countless numbers of High Elves, they were attacked from behind by the Wildhammer Dwarves who had just abandoned Aerie Peak. Zul'jin's detachment was eventually routed with the remaining Death Knights annihilated. Zul'jin would gather another army in order to attack Silvermoon again but was called back by Doomhammer.

Thanks to the Horde's huge spoils, Trade Prince Steamwheedle was able to buy off numerous assets from the other cartels in Kezan. As he was aggressively taking over his rivals' businesses, Doomhammer would ask him for more siege units. Expecting even more spoils, Steamwheedle happily obliged.

After he had assembled his army, Doomhammer led the attack against the Alliance stationed at Stromgarde. The siege would drag on for months but the Horde with their superior numbers eventually won the battle. Doomhammer personally battled and slew Anduin Lothar in single combat. Despite their decisive victory, he would eventually discover that Stromgarde was just a decoy. By the time they had conquered Stromgarde, Dalaran was protected by a shield, Gilneas was protected by the Greymane Wall, and Kul'Tiras was protected by a naval blockade.

The Horde's victory in Stromgarde cemented their dominion in the mainland. Doomhammer ordered the settling of their newly conquered territory. Orcs from Draenor would arrive in droves through the Dark Portal. Meanwhile in Kezan, Steamwheedle was able to buy off the entire island for his cartel and now called himself Trade King with the other Trade Princes either going into exile or committing suicide. Despite all of this, Doomhammer knew that he would still have to deal with remnants of the Alliance in the future. Zul'jin had already began launching raids against Silvermoon once again while the Black Tooth Grin Clan continued with the siege of Ironforge and Gnomeregan. Doomhammer also knew that he would have to deal with Gul'dan as well and had already sent scouts after them. Nonethless, Doomhammer was confident that it was only a matter of time before all of the continent belongs to them.

Despite the valiant efforts Lordaeron's defenders, the capital fell and King Terenas Menethil died along with most of his subjects. Upon hearing the news, Anduin Lothar had to think of a plan to divert the Horde's attention elsewhere to give survivors enough time to evacuate. He sent messenger ravens to other surviving commanders of his plan to make a last stand in Stromgarde while survivors flee to either Dalaran, Gilneas, Kul'Tiras, or Quel'Thalas.

The Kirin Tor were already making preparations to raise their city into the sky while under the protection of an impenetrable force field. Under orders of King Genn Greymane, masons also began constructing a wall to separate Gilneas from the rest of the continent. Meanwhile, Grand Admiral Daelin Proudmoore ordered evacuation ships to rescue as many refugees as possible from the shores of Hillsbrad. He also ordered some of his navy to ensure the safe journey of these ships while the rest of the navy form a blockade around his island nation.

On the other hand, King Anasterian Sunstrider ordered an evacuation of Silvermoon City and had his subjects along with refugees relocated to Quel'Danas Isle as the Forest Trolls led by Zul'jin besiege the ancient city. As they fled, swaths of High Elven citizens were massacred by the invading Trolls. Fortunately for them, fleeing Wildhammer Dwarves attacked the Zul'jin's army from behind and together routed them for the time being. In the Aftermath, Wildhammer citizens joined the other refugees at Quel'Danas Isle while their troops remained with Silvermoon's defenders. With a huge portion of their population dead, the High Elves renamed themselves as the Blood Elves in honor of their fallen and have resorted to the darker side of the arcane.

In Alterac City, King Thoras Trollbane received news of Lordaeron's fall and of Lothar's plan. Before setting forth towards Stromgarde, he personally executed King Aiden Perenolde and had the rest of the nobility put to the sword. He then told the citizens to flee while he added Alterac's troops to his own.

Eventually, Anduin Lothar was able to amass a huge host in Stromgarde. Together with numerous charismatic figures such as Turalyon, King Thoras, and Uther the Lightbringer, he rallied the troops to make the ultimate sacrifice as the Horde converged on the city. They cut down multiple bands Orcs, Forest Trolls, Goblins, and Ogres who poured into the city. For every one of them who fell, many more died on the side of the Horde. Unfortunately, the Horde's superior numbers took its toll on them and they all died fighting down to the last man. Thanks to their efforts though, the Kirin Tor, the Gilneans, and the Tirassians were able to put up the defenses in their respective kingdoms on time.

Despite their massive losses together with the deaths of some of their leaders, remnants of the Alliance continue to have hope. Heirs of the fallen kingdoms together with some of their subjects were safely evacuated. Thanks to their ingenuity, Gnomes and Dwarves were able to build a complex network of tunnels connecting Gnomeregan, Ironforge, Silvermoon, and Gilneas to each other. This allowed the remaining leaders to coordinate their efforts in rebuilding their forces albeit with some bickering. As the next powerful Human kingdom after Stormwind and Lordaeron, Gilneas became the new backbone of the Alliance supplying it with fresh troops and equipment. By this time, they had renamed themselves as the Grand Crusade who prepare for the fight of their lives not only to fend off the Horde from their remaining land but hopefully to reclaim those that they have lost.

After sailing away from the Eastern Kingdoms, Gul'Dan and his loyalists eventually reached the location of Sargeras' tomb which he raised from the ocean floor. With his forces intact, he was able to navigate his way through the tomb and acquire the Eye of Sargeras. The artifact increased his powers immensely and he was able to subjugate the Demons lurking within the tomb.

Gul'Dan had the tomb of Sargeras transformed as his own base. He then began summoning even more Demons and creatures from other worlds to subjugate to his will. His actions would eventually attract the Burning Legion. With the Horde no longer under their control, the Burning Legion hoped to use Gul'Dan's new found power to further their own plans. During one of Gul'Dan's summonings, Tichondrius the Darkerner appeared before him. Due to the Eye, Gul'Dan was able to subjugate the Dread Lord as well. However, this was all part of the Burning Legion's ruse.

While under Gul'Dan's control, Tichondrius taught Gul'Dan more about the art of Necromancy. He then offered his erstwhile master the Helm of Domination. When Gul'Dan raised his fallen soldiers, he became one with them. He was able to move their bodies as if they were his own. When scouts sent by Doomhammer finally tracked them down, he decided to test his newly acquired powers. The Undead massacred the scouts who were then raised into Undeath as well.

With Gul'Dan now in false sense of security, Tichondrius told him about Archimonde the Defiler and about how he would be able to control the powerful Demon Lord to destroy his enemies. Tichondrius also told him that in order to summon Archimonde, they would need the Book of Medivh which was hidden in Dalaran. Overconfident in his abilities, Gul'Dan agreed to the Dread Lord's plan. His armies of Undead and Demons then set off back to the mainland to do their master's bidding.

When Gul'dan raised the Tomb of Sargeras from the depths of the sea, the Naga sensed the disturbance and went to investigate. They then discovered the Undead and Demons amassing. Azshara was angry upon hearing this for she is still bitter for being "abandoned" by the Burning Legion about 10,000 years ago. She then orders the Naga to foil the Legion's plans.

They were able to determine that the Legion was planning on marching against the Eastern Kingdoms. The Naga would eventually discover the Orcs as well but considers them no different from the Demons sensing Mannoroth's taint within them. Upon discovering that the Orcs were being supplied by the Goblins of Kezan, they began raiding the island hindering the production of Horde war machines.

The Naga has no love for the Humans, Dwarves, and Gnomes either. The only ones who they consider worthy of allying with were the Blood Elves who are their distant kin. And so, they sent a detachment to aid the Blood Elves. The Blood Elves, were grateful but remains wary of their new ally.

Pandaren Empire:

A couple of adventurous Pandaren ended up getting caught in the war. Some of them join different factions hoping to end the war as soon as possible.

Scarlet Crusade:

Not all Humans chose to abandon their homes. Some of chose to remain in their homes and defend it to the death against the Horde. Despite having a common enemy in the Horde, they view the Grand Crusade with contempt for abandoning them before and will attack them as well on sight.

While majority of the high ranking officers of the Alliance were keeping the Horde busy at Stromgarde, the likes of General Abbendis, Inquisitor Isillien, and Alexandros Mograine were tasked with the evacuation of the civilian population throughout Lordaeron. By the time Stromgarde fell, they were evacuating Stratholme. However, there were a significant number of residents who insisted on staying and defending their homes to the death. The three were ordered by the government-in-exile of Lordaeron situated at Quel’Danas Isle to abandon them.

The trio argued on whether to defend or abandon the people who decided to stay. As the argument went back and forth, a Horde scouting party attacked the city forcing the trio and their men to repel the invaders. When the invaders retreated, the people celebrated and elected Abbendis as Grand Protector of the realm. His first act was to name Isillien and Mograine Grand Inquisitor and Grand Commander respectively.

Grand Protector Abbendis’ early rule was rocky. Their superiors branded them as deserters but did nothing to apprehend them thinking the Horde would do away with the traitors for them. Fortunately for them, their initial success spread to others who also refused to abandon their homes. Lords Valdelmar of Tyr’s Hand, Fordring of Mardenholde, Barov of Caer Darrow, and Agamand of Agamand Mills had severed ties with the Alliance high command and swore fealty to him instead. Feeling abandoned by their fellow Gilneans behind the Greymane Wall, Lords Silverlaine of Pyrewood and Crowley of Ambermill offered an alliance with them but still considered themselves subjects of the Gilnean Crown. Dwarves and High Elves who remained at Dun Garok, Aerie Peak, and different Elven lodges also chose him as leader rather than their respective racial leaders. In order to keep morale high, Abbendis promised that after defeating the Horde, he would redraw the geopolitical landscape with those who swore loyalty to him rewarded accordingly.

Despite his numerous allies, Abbendis’ ragtag army was easily overwhelmed by the Horde in early battles. Mardenholde and Agamand Mills were demolished with most of its inhabitants massacred. Their Dwarven and Elven allies were also forced to abandon their holdings to avoid a similar fate resorting to guerrilla tactics instead. Eventually, a sizeable contingent of the Horde forces came knocking at the gates of Stratholme. Even though it was just a fraction of the Horde’s total numbers, it was still enough to overwhelm the defenders. Abbendis and Mograine lead the charge while Isillien tried to maintain calm among the civilian population. Despite killing many of the Horde forces, they were still losing due to their enemies’ immense numbers. Just as all hope was lost, a small band of warriors and healers lead by Saidan Dathrohan arrived and turned the tides of battle. In the end, Abbendis’ army stood victorious despite huge losses.

Abbendis and Mograine were initially shocked to see Dathrohan given that the latter supposedly perished at the battle of Stromgarde. Nonetheless, both were thankful to him and his warriors although Mograine remained suspicious of him. Dathrohan claimed he and his men were saved by the Holy Light and given another chance to do battle against the Horde. Abbendis welcomed Dathrohan and his men into the city but Mograine warned the Grand Protector to keep a close eye on them.

Mograine’s fears were proven warranted when Dathrohan and his men began killing some of the populace. When questioned by Abbendis, Dathrohan claimed that they were simply purging those who the Holy Light deemed “unclean”. Mograine called for their executions but Abbendis let them go arguing that they were popular among the populace. In fact, majority of the people supported the purges. Eventually, the supporters called for the promotion of Dathrohan. With Isillien’s support, Dathrohan was made co-commander alongside Mograine to the latter’s chagrin. Eventually, Kel’Thuzad of Dalaran asked to conduct secret research at Caer Darrow. Wary of magi, Mograine did not want to do anything with him but Dathrohan convinced Abbendis otherwise. This only fuelled the tension between the two commanders even more.

When the Alliance was reformed into the Grand Crusade with the goal of repelling the Horde, Grand Commander Othmar Garithos offered Grand Protector Abbendis an ultimatum: swear fealty or die. Mograine called for reconciliation but Dathrohan denounced the Grand Crusade as cowards who abandoned them. In order to settle the dispute, Isillien urged Abbendis to turn towards the populace. The overwhelming majority chose to side with Dathrohan. Hence, Abbendis reformed his forces into the Scarlet Crusade not only having the same goal as that of the Grand Crusade in driving out the Horde but also to establish a new world order with the Holy Light at its center.

Caer Darrow (May Day 2015) - Can choose the Risen when you play as Human

As the forces of the Grand Crusade, the Horde, and the Scarlet Crusade battle it out in the Eastern Kingdoms, Kel’Thuzad’s research in Caer Darrow was able to make great strides in the field of necromancy. Resurrecting the dead is not unknown but unlike before, he was able to keep the minds of the reanimated more intact. Even more surprising was that some of the Undead subjects were able to channel the Holy Light. When he presented it to the leaders of the Scarlet Crusade, most were disgusted. Mograine went as far as calling for Kel’Thuzad’s execution for what he has done. Dathrohan however had a different take on it. He argued that Kel’Thuzad’s work had the Holy Light’s blessing proven by the fact that it continues to answer the call of some of the Undead. Eventually, Abbendis decided that the new Undead form a contingent under the command of Dathrohan: the Risen. However, Kel’Thuzad was not allowed to raise more until further notice.

The Risen did well in the battles that followed. By putting them on the frontlines, Dathrohan was able to minimize casualties. The effectiveness reached the populace and calls for Kel’Thuzad to raise more began to grow. Meanwhile, Mograine’s support continued to bleed away. This fuelled the animosity between the two commanders even further.

As time passed, rumors began to circulate about an army of Demons sailing from the west and sea serpents being spotted near the shores. The Scarlet Crusade’s leadership deemed such stories silly until their scouts and spies reported some disturbing turn of events. Kul Tiras has fallen to an army of Demons. Meanwhile, defectors from Quel’thalas arrived. Their leader, Dar’Khan Drathir warned that the Grand Crusade has allied with sea serpents called the Naga. Dathrohan called for allowing Kel’Thuzad to raise more Undead but Mograine continued to protest. As the two commanders bickered on, their northern shores were attacked by the Grand Crusade backed by the Naga. Both commanders rushed to repel the invaders but when the battle was over, only one of them returned: Dathrohan. Mograine supposedly fell fighting the enemy. Supporters of Mograine warned of foul play but Abbendis knew they can’t waste any time for an investigation and thus, Dathrohan became sole commander of the army.

Dathrohan ordered Kel’Thuzad to continue raising Undead to replenish their army. Many volunteered to be raised as Undead and the number of Risen swelled. Dathrohan also ordered Dar’Khan to find ways to strengthen the Elves. Using artefacts he hoarded as he left Silvermoon, he succeeded but at a cost. The Elves became Wretched. Dathrohan said that it did not matter what they were as long as they succeeded on the battlefield. Abbendis can only look from the sidelines as Dathrohan rallied his empowered army, wondering if he made the right decision.

After Aliden Perenolde’s death, the Syndicate fell on hard times. Around the time of the Cataclysm, the Alliance and the Horde were busy fighting Twilight Cultists as well as each other. It was during this time that Aliden’s older sister, Beve, came out of hiding to rally the remaining stragglers from both the Syndicate and the allied Argus Wake. They made their way to the ruins of Alterac City and took it back from the Ogres, setting up their new base of operations in the process.

Hey Uncle Ujimasa, will you release an unprotected version of your maps? I know that you're no longer working on them, but I would love to change some models from your maps :'( (it would increase a lot the weight of the maps but it's for my personal fun Xd)

The new Warcraft patch which breaks the 8Mb map size limit really got me excited but sad at the same time.

I really like the idea of adding additional races into melee maps and one of the main obstacles was the size limit given that you'll most likely end up importing lots of stuff to make up one race. Unfortunately, I won't be able to to take advantage of the expanded size limit because I'm too busy to tinker with maps. Next best thing I can do is to release unprotected versions of my maps and let other people have their fun. The only remaining issue are modelers/skinners who allowed me to use/edit their resources provided the map are protected.

PS. I'm still into modeling.

Calling out modelers round here. Now that the 8MB limit is gone, there is no real reason for me to Optimize my maps which ends up "Protecting" them. The only issue now is that some of you allowed me to use certain resources only if I protected my maps. I really want people to start taking advantage of the expanded map size limit and I want my maps to help so what do you say. I've heard some people are able to get around the protection anyways so does it really matter?

@Ujimasa Hojo, would it be alright If I begin updating some of your map series? Like replacing some of the models and such?

For example, replacing thr 7K Proudmoore Harbor map's Alliance of Lordaeron faction with a Kul Tiran Insurgents faction to reflect the story you wrote for them before. Or even replacing the Alliance and Horde Factions' buildings to the Wintergarde and Northerend(Orc) building sets respectively in your SfA Wintergarde Keep map?

@Ujimasa Hojo, Sir, will there be a day where you make tutorials on how you make your maps? I ask because, if it will be alright with you and if you will permit me to do so, I was hoping to maybe expand upon the stories and races/ factions you've done for your Desolation and 7 Kingdom map series. As well as, perhaps update your other map series as well.

E.g. an Illidari race on your Rumble in Outland series, another separated faction for the Night Elves of your Clash from the Past series and many more, Sir.

@Ujimasa Hojo I have found a bug in your Battle for Supremacy maps. Whenever I click the Barracks as a Blood Elf the game crashes and an error report appears. This only happened on 1.30 wc3. When I had 1.26 and previous patch this didnt happen.

Also if it is not too much to ask can you add the Illidari to your Theramore Isle BfS maps? I really enjoy the BfS

Attack of the Multiverse

Features:
  • Faction-wide "skins" to be implemented among the original melee races.
  • Each faction "skin" will have backstories based on alternate timelines.
Human Skins:

  • Alliance of Lordaeron
  • Holy Horde of the Light

PREMISE: COMING SOON

ALTERED HISTORY: COMING SOON

  • Pact of the Forsaken

PREMISE: Thrall's Horde abandons the Eastern Kingdoms completely instead of allying with the Forsaken after the Third War. This allows third party groups such as the Scourge, Dark Horde, and Gurubashi Trolls to overrun the Alliance forces.

The Forsaken becomes isolated. The Blood Elves of Quel'thalas resort to more reckless use of spells causing majority of them to devolve into Wretched. Meanwhile the Dark Iron Dwarves get evicted from Blackrockspire by the triumphant Dark Horde. With no other choice, these disparate forces form their own Alliance.

ALTERED HISTORY: COMING SOON

  • Ebon Crusade

PREMISE: The fight between the Alliance and Horde escalates during the raid on Icecrown Citadel. The Alliance eventually wins but with huge amounts of casualty. The Alliance survivors eventually succumb to the Scourge and are raised as the Lich King's champions.

ALTERED HISTORY: COMING SOON

  • Kiddin' Tor

PREMISE: Instead of becoming obsessed with Necromancy, Kel'Thuzad delves into the spell used by Gul'dan to speed up the aging of Orcs to increase the numbers of the Old Horde. He successfully reverse-engineer the spell allowing him to de-age himself. He forms his own subfaction within Dalaran which eventually grew in numbers effectively taking control of the city.

ALTERED HISTORY: COMING SOON

  • Brotherhood of the Uncrowned

Coming Soon

  • Alliance of Darnassus

PREMISE: Sylvanas begins the Blood War by attacking the Eastern Kingdoms instead, destroying Ironforge and Stormwind. The Western Horde races and Quel'thalas practically abandons her but her military might is compensated for by the amount of dead resurrected.

With Alliance power shifting towards Kalimdor, the Night Elves and other Alliance races gather their forces to prepare a counter-attack. While the Night Elves maintain their independent military hierarchy, the other groups such as Gilneas, Kul Tiras, Highborne, and Exodar coordinate their forces more closely.

ALTERED HISTORY: COMING SOON

  • Holy Arathi Empire

PREMISE: Calia Menethil makes herself known allowing the different groups of interest to rally around her after the Third War. Balnazzar's plot to infiltrate the Crusade is also uncovered and prevented. This prevents the Crusade from splintering albeit their are still internal divisions lingering. Calia makes a deal with Sylvanas. The latter trades Capital City in exchange for military aid in recovering much of the scourge-infested portions of Quel'thalas.

From the newly recovered Capital City, Calia is crowned Empress of the newly formed Holy Arathi Empire, considered to be the spiritual successor of the old Arathi Empire. Their main military are the Crusaders, which have two subfactions: the Scarlets led by the Mograines and the Argents led by the Fordrings. Despite their imperial claim however, their main strongholds are only within the Tirisfal Glades and the Western Plaguelands. Despite their nominal support for the empire, other territories such such as Hillsbrad, Southshore, Ambermill, Pyrewood, and Stromgarde remain practically independent.

  • Addition of the Avatar of Vengeance to the Emerald Nightmare.

  • Addition of the Orc Demolishers or Catapults models. Some other units models also added.

Author's Notes:
  • Will stick to classic models. Maps are currently structured around Patch 1.26 but will eventually be reworked to work in 1.31.
    • The map has already surpassed the 8MB file size mark so multiplayer is no longer allowed in 1.26 unless third party tools are used.
  • "Skin" selection will be based on triggers implemented in my other maps.

@Ujimasa Hojo, will this new Altered Melee map series function in the same vein as your other map series? I.e. having from the start have different factions already for the four base races ( Western Alliance = NE, Eastern Alliance = humans, etc.) and just have the ability to choose a different custom faction race or have the four base races (human, orc, undead, night elf) and have the option to choose other faction race?

And as for the name of these new alternate faction stories, maybe you can draw something from WoW's Caverns of Time, and the WoW books War Crimes and Thrall: Twilight of the Aspects.

Edit: and is this explicitly just skins change of the preexisting units & buildings? No custom units & buildings?

  • You're right about skin selection. Basically the same as Struggle for Azeroth's unless something better comes up.
  • So far, all the factions in my mind don't really draw upon any of those universes.
  • By "skin", there will still be custom models. Kinda like how there are "Premiere skins" in MOBA games where the model can be radically redesigned but gameplay is the same.
