Treacherous Waters

"Wizarding pirates cling to the last of their riches as their footholds surrender to the sea. Venture onto the water and find the mystical Waygates that serve as alternate routes to strike at the heart of the enemy."

This is a 4 versus 4 melee map in the Sunken Ruins tileset. The map's central feature is the combination of Transport Ships and naval Way Gates leading to the respective corners of the map, close to the enemy bases. This allows players to perform sneak attacks by bringing units to the otherwise inaccessible Gates.
The Way Gates are surrounded by rock spires that limit air movement, making the Gates less useful for aerial attacks. In addition, there are several Green creep camps scattered around the map, only reachable by boat. Some of them drop Runes of the Watcher that allow observation of the surrounding area, making it easier to spot enemy ships.
This map uses fixed start locations. Starting situations vary wildly between team members (but are equal and balanced across teams). This means that each starting position will have a different role in the battle. Players located at the bottom of the map are closest to the enemy base, and must therefore be prepared for early attack. The players at the top of the map are relatively safe from ground attacks, but they have the important task of securing the upper gold mines and controlling the central sea.
The map contains:
8 Main gold mines (20000)
8 Expansion gold mines (17500)
3 Red Creep Camps
16 Orange Creep Camps (when playing with 8 Players)
26 Green Creep Camps
2 Mercenary Camps (Sunken Ruins)
2 Goblin Merchants
2 Goblin Shipyards
8 Way Gates
1 Tavern
