aww but I wanted to explore more :c

Yeah, that's the point on the meta-level. The middle section between the temple of correspondence and the temple of mentalism is still unimproved.

In my concept there were about 5 temples, including the temple of mentalism. The playable map size was insufficient at all - paired with the lack of time.
There was so much space .. for the hermetic princibles .. some information about Arcadia. Furthermore v0.80b is not the last version.

I will improve this later.

E: Gah .. the outro is cropped up. The music titles interfere with each other.. killing the atmosphere. ._.*

As I said I would, I am submitting my incomplete map. Mostly just for the sake of actually submitting something, and also so that the work goes to some use at least.

I doubt I will finish it off. Especially since I still haven't been able to fix my windows installation :(

Well anyways here it is.
I used JNGP, I had credits written down but I cannot access them because they are on the windows side of my computer.

Too bad i can't open it in WE, i would really like to look at the triggers xD

Here's a review of some of the maps I tested. Some of them I was unable to play for whatever reason that may be. If others are also incapable of opening those maps, please check for possible bugs.

City Under Siege
This map was in my opinion quite disappointing. Very repetitive gameplay and terrain. Nothing really special about it. Just get passed the round to get to the rest of the map to get more items to get past the next rounds. It was more like a hero's defense game then a puzzle.

???(I have no idea who's map this is. In-game it's marked as Just Another Warcraft III Map. I believe it is Kingz' Contest map, but I'm not bothering to confirm this)
Besides the fact that this contest lacks naming and therefor violates the THW map submission rules, I also can't open the map. I suggest that whoever created it fixes that or your map is invalid for participation.

I think this map has a quite good chance to win. Even though I have only checked a part of this map to get a decent impression of the quality, I think I can safely say that there's been put good thought into this game. The sound, music, effects and interactions were well thought out. However, there were some small bugs where you could avoid encounters if you skipped cinematics, and at the start I had 2 Attack functions, both with hotkey A, while only the unusable function was used with that hotkey.

Arcadia - Rise and Fall
Without a doubt, there has been spend a lot of time on this map. So if you don't mind me being suspicious: I do have my doubts if this map was really made after the start of this contest.
I'll review it either way. I got stuck pretty soon, so my judgment on this 1 will be lacking. I never heard of a spirit with a deep, low growl. It might be better if you change it into something more fitting, like a wisp. The terrain was definitely well made. I haven't checked the triggers for it, but I think you made the camera's stick to their position by setting it to that position every 0.1 seconds. If that's so, I suggest you better place a dummy unit and lock the camera on that 1. I'm sure there's a good lore in the game as a whole, but I don't think the average player would understand the principle of mentalism, even if you explain it like you did in the quest. And since I'm talking about that anyway, I don't think I read anything of a quest in that description. Definitely something to fix there. Another issue was the annoyance I got with the Interact function. It doesn't target an object, which makes it quite a nuisance. All with all a good game, but it needs it's fine-tuning.

The other games, I was unable to play for whichever reason that may be. I suspect it's some issue in the latest patch, but I can't tell for sure.

People says that he had control of holy lights and as the outland creatures are weak against light, he did erase every creature in the cave. The process

The development of Dracion was at full speed the first month, but then as the process wasn’t that far from the finish line, the process slowed down and it was hardly moving. In the days up to the deadline, I continued working and finished up the last things. The last day, I was fixing the last things and made the screenshots and so on. That what just a bit about the development process.

This was just a bit about Dracion. You are free to check out the map, in both Warcraft III and World Editor.
The map is open source, so you can check out my working techniques and triggers, but please don’t copy/steal anything. All the resources I’ve used can be downloaded at hiveworkshop.com and/or wc3c.net
Now, I only want to say thank you to the competition master and judge, Syleona. You are spending much time on both developing the contest, judging it and the first price. And I will also say thanks to everyone who have commented on the screenshots and given me feedback. At last, I have to say thanks to everyone who are going to play the map and to the other contestants I will say good luck. And now, I will hope you enjoy the map. If you have any questions, just leave a message. Have fun everybody!

- Thank you Avator,
the thing having 2 "Attack"s happens because Nex cannot really Attack, but he uses an ability. When selecting the swordsmen and Nex then both appear, couldn't think of a way to avoid that without having to spend lot's of hours.

- About the other bugs I'd like to have more information on that, detailed. Either here or private. Thanks again! :pwink:

@X-OMG-X
- Isn't the deadline over?

As usual, there's always problem whether 0.00 GMT means the day it gets from 23.59 to a new day the previous day, or that if it is the whole day included

(yeah you probably didnt get that, or you might have got it).

I will accept the map due the fact that some might have been confused with PM or AM. But it was clearly stated as AM. Due being a few hours late, I think it's okay to accept it. A lot of work has been spent on it, and I will not reject it due the confusion. Anything submitted after 0:00 PM today will however be rejected for sure.

so are we allowed to change something now?
or only for those who haven't uploaded them yet?

Is it just me or are Lumen and Kingz entry not possible to finish due to buggs?(Lumen has some pathing blockers that dont open at the tower and you can't continue to activate all the runes, Kingzs sacrificial altars are unclickable ingame).

@RaiN.: Not just you. I think it's fair to let people fix those glitches though.

Before we get into the judging, I have a few questions about how it'll proceed which weren't made clear in the first post. I'm sure most of this would have been announced soon anyway, but I like to be clear.

  1. When will the judging period commence, and when will it end?
  2. Will the public and judge voting take place at the same time?
  3. Will the judges' votes be made publicly visible during the public voting?
  4. Why is a good knowledge of triggering relevant to the volunteer judge? Is our code going to be checked for cleanliness (meaning we need to submit an unprotected map)?
  5. I find some of the judging criteria to be unclear:
    • Creative Level Design: Creating an interesting scene will make the level a lot more detailed and interesting /30 The description marks this as terraining: an 'interesting scene'.
    • Unique Ideas: Implementing Ideas with a unique style will be rewarded /20 I am presuming that this refers to puzzles being interesting, unique, etc. What's this about style though? I don't know how to interpret that.
    • Defined Artistic Style: You have an idea for a style? Doomed pyramid, dark catacombs with a gothic hint? Stick to it, explore the style, create your own style! /20 This is clearly terraining. But there are no marks for imports; how does that work?
    • Lore: Implementing a Lore/Story into the map, and combining it with gameplay/level design is not to be missed! /10 Cinematics, background, etc. Pretty clear and reasonable.
    • Gameplay: Having a creative gameplay and event rundown planned out is a plus in single player adventures /20

Now the above gives 60% for terrain/aesthetics/lore, and 40% for puzzles. Is that the balance we were supposed to achieve, or would I be right in saying that the interaction between the environment and puzzles is what 'Creative Level Design' should mean?

Here is my final entry. Due to a misunderstanding with
the time, I updated my map, to fix some annoying things:
- now you can save again!
- you can skip the cinematics!

here is my entry and some wip screenshots:

Some notes to Amigurumi's entry:

I don't know why but your screenshots are really bad!
This looks really good ingame, but the screenshots look really odd compared to how it looks like in reality! ;-)
I really like this map, it has nice puzzles in it and the starting cinematic is very well made!
Another big plus is the terrain, even if it doesn't look too good in the screenshots!

+ rep for this entry!
