I am getting tight on time, largely because I am having trouble with the abilities :(

Terrain 98% (95% If time allows)
Triggering 70% (65% if time allows)
Objects 100% (98% If time allows)
Story 100%
Cinematics 20%
Balance 0%

Might look like I am not too far off, but Triggering is far from my forté.

Ehhh, I've been caught up in other things lately but I guess I'll report:

Terrain: 50-60%
Triggering: 50%
Objects: 25%
Story: 100% thought out
Cinematics: 0%
Balance: Mine isn't going to have traditional battle, though I am planning a boss battle, I'm thinking more along the lines of like TLoZ were you have to find the bosses weakness or use the terrain to your advantage.
Music: 30%

Hopefully I can get some time to dedicate to this soon

- I'm creating the map in parts (like everyone else), but I create each part completly (terrain, triggers, story, puzzles, e.t.c.) so the progress report doesn't really show my progress.

PROGRESS
Terrain: 50-60% (not going to use the whole terrain)
Triggering: 90%
Objects: 60%
Story: 80%
Cinematics: 98%
Balance: 100%
Bugfix: 99.9%
[Past]- What I've really completed is Part 1 which is the Intro of the map and getting the player in the idea of how to play it. Also Part 2 which is the part with the most riddles, takes a very small area of the map.
[Fact]- The average estimated time of playing is 30 minutes.

[Future]- I'm planning on having most action in Part 3 and some riddles, already done on the paper, so I just have to make it happen!

@tleno

1.5 month for a map is hard to achieve, but hell when a game developer starts making a game they try to be as fast as hell and reach the deadline :p

Anyway i think it would have been better with 2 months since i could wrap things up nicely without the loss of gameplay time :3

But i guess 1.5 is enough for some people and i shouldn't complain.

I think 1.5 months are enough. Well my game progress doesn't look like
that I finish it the next day, but I would have finished it, if I didn't started
from 0.
But I give my best to finish it.

Couldnt u just ask to delay the deadline? Sorry for the question, if that is not possible.

I think it would be possible, but I don't think that this gonna happen.

Syleona already mentioned that that's not possible, since she's searching for a person to tutor for a month and present the results. The current deadline gives her about a month to do that, so the contest cannot be extended.

because of that I said this: 'but I don't think that this gonna happen.'

I only ment, that it's generally possible to change the deadline.

I'm not sure if I have posted enough WIP to show that I am in fact making this, so for good measure.

Hmm i guess showing off some more work won't hurt :p

This particular area has a kind off outdoors look but it is a small part of the map and i feel it won't have a big impact on the whole gameplay.

I myself find the abyss look nice, also it is unfinished :3

it looks kind of outdoors at some parts, doesn't it? :p

Well the whole thing takes place in caverns, large caverns maybe, but mostly it's the darkness that is giving you that impression. The only part that is outside is the introductory cinematic.

Now thats pro. I hope you manage to finish it.

Thanks :), I hope so too, though unfortunately I wont be able to complete it to anywhere near what I had hoped for. :(

Hopefully I will have enough time to make something good though. Though whats left is triggering, which is not at all my forté. :(

Looks nice. I don't think it looks like out doors though at all. Can't imagine an outdoor place that would have those sorts of platforms and such. Reminds me a little of the Arcane Sanctuary in Diablo 2 actually.

Hmm....I don't know, what do you like in a totally non-original terrain, with tousands of non-warcraft models....I think there's a limit with the modding.

I agree with this,
the "main problem" is that most of the people are like "Wow, this looks good, if it looks good, it is good". But fortunately imported stuff
will not play any role, as mantioned in the starting post and 'eye-candy-hunter' are reduced to 30%, + as this is not a terraining
contest and the main goal is to make mysteries puzzles and riddle => makes me belive
that everybody has the same chance, only being judged by their creative minds behind the conundrums they produce.

The new models are good, but (Please!) use Warcraft-like models. The model have to have a Warcraft style ( or maybe Diablo,Starcraft?). The best is the medieval and the Blizzard-style. (I mean, I hate seeing a cartoon character in a WC 3 map)

Hmm...Do you think that a nice Dialogue-system, some optional quests and investigation are good for this competition?

Well remember, if your terrain looks like s@#$, no one's going to want to stare at it for an hour trying to solve the puzzles. It doesn't have to be epic, but sucking is not to your advantage.

Look at it this way, sure i use imported models, that makes my terrain look different, but guess what? All good ruins models for WC are in the sunken tile category and i didn't want sunken ruins to be my theme so i went for other models/textures.

Sure it isn't all eyecandy but the odder the terrain is the different the puzzles/traps can be, no?

I mean with current terrain i got i could think out some strange puzzle's, add a Diablo like touch ups and generate a difrent feeling that normal WC maps.

I draw my inspiration from diablo series, but that doesn't mean that i am copying it, it simply means i like diablo like stuff and ambience and therefore i tried to revive some of that feeling while playing my map.

This may apear like a big wall of text with no meaning, if that is the case for you(the reader) just ignore it.

There is no specific way we are suppose to present our map, its up to us as the map makers to decide how to do that, which means in no way does it have to be like Wc3.

This is a mapping contest not a puzzle making contest, puzzles is just part of the theme. Terrain is an important part of mapping, along side the puzzles and coding and what not. Though that doesn't necessarily mean it has to be very good.

However I don't see why other people should gain an unfair advantage by judges disregarding how the terrain looks. Because for me terrain is my forte, not the coding. Of course you aren't getting points for the models, terraining is how you use the models, and the end effect.

oh, comon guys ^^, this is not going to stay like it is.
Those pics truly show the most ugly angles and pic possible.
you got fooled, but i cant show any "ntersting" stuff, because it
would show to much.

And nay other stuff i could show, would be just an improved version of what already is known, but comon, thos pics are ugly. ;)

greets equal

Sneak Previeww!

Probably the most I will work on this due to lack of motivation. Tell me what you think. Please keep the answers to yourself so that each player can have the same experience. In case it is not obvious, THIS MAP IS NOT COMPLETE!

And also keep in mind to make constructive comments.

Also feel free to reach me through Email, AIM, Windows Live. Information is provided on my profile as well as with this post.

It's solo because one person works on the map, as compared to paired mapping contests where we have two.

Tell me... You're joking right?:eekani:

Edit: In this thread multiple people told me the map had to be single player. I had such a great idea to make and was really looking forward to starting on it because I thought it could really win the contest because I was really sure it would get really addictive to play. I believed them so was a bit pissed at first but stepped out of the contest because I never liked making single-player maps. (playing vs players is so much cooler then vs computers).
