work in progress
I'm neutral about extensions.
I like it when deadlines stay as originally published, but I *might* be able to get my second entry finished too in time for an extended deadline. So whatever.
Anyway, I'll have at least one entry. The entry that I'm finishing off right now is called "City Under Siege". It's about a death knight that invaded a city and killed five of the ten resident heroes leaving their souls to mysteriously drift away. The remaining five escaped, but became separated, and you only begin with one to control. So the main quest is to find the other four and then work together to defeat the death knight. A unique element of the map is that the five heroes can switch to their deceased counterparts at any time using their souls.
There's two main dungeons with several rooms and traps and riddles to be solved. There's also other areas in between that can only be accessed with sufficient experience. The hero(es) gain experience by training in the city combat arena by fighting increasing difficult enemies.
For now, I've uploaded four editor screenshots to show work in progress:
1) Starting area.
2) One of the heroes that needs to be rescued from a dragon after completing a puzzle to find him.
3) A waterway that connects unlockable areas that the player needs to figure out how to cross.
4) One of many traps with trolls hiding behind rocks.
As an aside, I think this competition idea is really cool. Especially judging by the huge number of posts in this topic. Maybe this could motivate another RPG-like contest in the future that allows single-player maps?
