Horde Campaign: Spirituality's End
Alternate version of "Eternity's End", with swapped races
Play the original Reign of Chaos Night Elf campaign from a Horde perspective in an alternate, non-canon reality.
Features a customizable Horde faction.
Some expansion units as well as new units will also be available.
All players are race-swapped, including your allies and your enemies!

Inspired by Brood War Alternate.
Features: All Chapters and Interludes are included. Includes a bonus chapter based on the ending cinematic.
Dialogue changed to fit the swaps. Character names are kept the same, but their hero class is changed.
Same map concept, but with different available units as well as different enemies.
Switched tilesets. For example, Ashenvale is replaced by Zangarmarsh.

This Campaign series contains some differences from the original Warcraft lore. They are:
- Dreadlords are Undead beings related to Gargoyles, not Demons.
- The word demon can refer to both Demonic/Fel beings like Doom Guards, and Shadow/Void beings like Void Walkers.
- Keepers/Dryads are not related to Night Elves.
- Lost ones are not related to Exodar Draenei or with the Eredar, but the Eredar and the Draenei are related.

I have tested the maps quite a bit, but it is possible that some bugs, glitches or unexpected behaviors might have slipped through the testing. If you find anything strange, you should report it on discord. Also, you can type -toggle or -t while playing the first chapter of the campaign to lock or unlock the buttons for accessing each chapter.
You can type -d in any chapter to check the difficulty.

A neat race swap edit with almost its own full techtree. Not sure how to feel about trolls (player units) killing trolls (neutral hostile) though. But then again you're fighting rogue orcs as well. Ancient Protector in a box xD Medivh is still Medivh...

It was certainly fun. Unfortunately, my version of it keeps coming up with I think the last mission (The mount hyjal defence) being corrupted. Tried to boot it up a few times, but each time it came up saying that the map was corrupted.

First level: Sometimes the optional quest is called Polar Furbolg Village and sometimes it's Paradise Village.

Second level: Sometimes the transformation only hits Tyrande. This one would be interesting to have all through the campaign.

Fourth level:
  • Some tiny buildings refuse to be built until something happens and it works, same for worker-built towers.
  • No explanation for being hostile to other trolls (and orcs in the fifth level)?
  • The nature spirit could use subtitles when talking, it's impossible to make out with all the other sounds.

Seventh level:
  • Why is Jaina's voice so muffled?
  • Mercenary camps should have troops immediately ready.

1. Will fix.
2. Yeah I think I had that happen once. I will need to check why it happens. The ability has very specific player-based mechanics that makes it very difficult to configure in all maps. Just like Shadowmeld being improved in the original map, this spell is only usable here.
4a. I don't understand this issue. I never had a problem with them.
4b. Just like the Dark Trolls of the original, Ice Trolls are related to Tyrande's people but hostile until Archimonde appears in the finale. The Stormreaver orcs don't get an in-game explanation (except for a hint in chapter 6) but they are meant to be the Highbourne equivalent.
4c. The Ghost Keeper's abilities have some voicelines but they aren't meant as dialogue so that's why they don't appear as transmissions.
7a. Because of the pitch shifting.
7b. I let them be how they were in the original map.

I only give 5 Stars for the work it took to make this .. to accommodate such changes... To the campaign. I had fun to some extent: heroes and Quest were done nicely. But I MUST ADMIT I AM NOT A BIG FAN OF THE STORY AT ALl.. It feels very weird personally also why everyone likes to make unit tech so complex, It Is good to have variety, don't take me wrong but Sometimes when I have to select a specialization for each unit I train it becomes a bit annoying. Nice models for the units. I like some talents from the Vodo Lodge but most feel boring a bit. Alao almost forgot. what's wrong with the AI in the last mission with the mountain? They don't train any units at all except hero and workers, was that meant to be for difficulty purposes?

Decent addition to your other Alternate custom campaigns, with lots of funny moments and interesting fights throughout, I liked it!
{I played on version 1.31 of War3 on Hard}

~Negatives

- The same problem as in the previous campaigns you made, every time I finish a mission the next one starts automatically on normal difficulty despite the fact I already chose hard from the start, this means the only way to play on hard is to quit the mission, go back to the main menu of the campaign, select hard again and then choose the current mission.

- Really strange not sure how I feel about Illidan being a monk lol, and those spells are unique, to say the least, the passive seems kinda bad tho, -50% dmg is a bit much I think, and the transformation at the end, getting 2 heroes was even more bizarre lol, I didn't expect that for sure!

- Talking about monks, in chapter 6 there is this mini-game with the obelisks, changing their colors based on the clues we gather around the map, and I am pretty sure I did it right but nothing happened, unless I did it wrong lol, you decide, check this:

- I liked the specialization choices, but like other people pointed out, it does get annoying having to always manually click on each orc unit to choose a spec, i think it would be better if you could set it automatically somehow from the building.

- And lastly, the main gameplay problem I noticed was the fact that the spells weren't based on q w e r, some heroes like Illidan have z x c v hotkeys while others like Tyrande have the basic Shadow hunter Hotkeys from melee games, kinda strange, i Highly suggest you just change all the hotkeys from both heroes and units to just be the same q w e r system, which is the most used and the best system of hotkeys, that would improve the gameplay a lot and make everything more smooth.


~Positives:

- I liked how you named most of the chapters, and how chapter 3 is called Enter Stormrage hehe, nice one, Enter Sandman!

- I Liked the Dragoon in the second mission, I was wondering what that creature would be changed to from the original Hydralisk and it was pretty cool.

- I also enjoy the fact that it was voice-acted! That is a big +

Most of the voice lines were good, except the ones towards the end, specifically from the Void creature and the Naaru, which sounded bad. My suggestion is to shorten their dialogue and slow it down a bit, to make it sound more like an actual God or Space Demon speaking.




- Overall I enjoyed playing this one as well! You pretty much completed The Reign of Chaos Campaign now, that was a lot of work, great job with everything! :infl_thumbs_up:

Since you completed The Reign of Chaos part will you continue with the Frozen Throne now I wonder?

This is something from the Warcraft III itself. It has always been buggy with custom campaign difficulty. You can go to the default campaign (Terror of the Tides for example) and change the difficulty there to HARD. All custom campaign will read this adjustment and automatically use HARD as default.

This also means it is not possible to continue with EASY as default due to this bug.

Wow, you are right, I just changed the difficulty from the original campaign in 1.31 from normal to hard, and then when I replayed some maps from this custom campaign on hard they stayed on hard after completing a mission and starting the next one, I can't believe it worked haha.

Overall, I enjoyed this finale to the Reign of Shadows series. I do find them difficult overall, you're expected to already know how the original levels worked, and you won't have your hand held in the early levels being taught the new mechanics. Sometimes gimmicks caught me unaware, as well, in the Wolfpack mission I lost Furion's entire army to the Shamans' Lightning Shield in seconds before I noticed what happened, and in the final level, the Night Elves seemed rigged to have more units than the food cap should've allowed.

However, the ability to customize units with the Voodoo Lounge for Trolls, or the single-upgrade line for the Orcs was definitely something new, and gives me ideas I want to play with for my own projects. In prototypes for a campaign I lost the files for, I also experimented with unique non-Heroes being re-trainable from the Altar, like Shandris was in this campaign, and dynamic abilities like Furion's elemental Charges. It's intriguing to see someone else have the same idea.

If/when @Xetanth87 gets around to doing the Verdant Throne, one suggestion from my old brainstorms is, have the Heroes in your map affect what specializations and upgrades you can give your army. For example, while playing the Horde, if Furion is an active hero for the level, Shamans can take a special 4th specialization to use his Elemental Charges in combat. Troll Witch Doctors could gain an option to Hex their targets or place Serpent Wards as an additional spell if Tyrande is active. That way, missions can have a bit more variation.

I also got a fair few chuckles out of the music references throughout this campaign, the first level obviously being "Knockin' on Heaven's Door", then the Elementals in "Enter Stormrage" quoting Metallica; as Firelord quotes Fade to Black with "Life it seems will fade away" and the Wind Protecter quotes "Take a look to the sky just before you die" from "For Whom The Bell Tolls". "Enter Stormrage" itself is obviously "Enter Sandman", and then Illidan's quest being Disturbed's "The Vengeful One" and his Demon Form being called "The Dark Messiah", from the song's chorus.

I was not expecting Archimonde's transformation in the final chapter and I definitely did not expect how you actually "fought" him in Chapter 8, but it was different. I found the time limit very forgiving.

I completed this campaign and what can I say...
  • I liked that Totem Tribe-styled hints in Illidan's mission;
  • Obelisk mini-game was fun;
  • The last chapter aka "Chapter 8" often crashed, dunno why.
Yes, a bit short, but this campaign is full of memes and easter eggs (just looking at chapter names - so many references to rock & metal music, "Enter Stormrage", "Wolfpack", "Power of the Horde", etc)
Am I right to say that Titans would be here demons aka forces of disorder?
I liked the whole campaign, and I am awaiting more!
