Do you really enjoy playing Test of Balance? It's now Co-op compatible!

After quite some work on Overclocked's Test of Balance i can now release a stable version of the map adaptation.

The Game start might be lagging - WC3 not responding - give it some time. It needs to load all the whacky code :^)
Please report any bugs or inconsistencies so i can optimize.

Current Version: 1.X --- 3 Player:

Commands:
  • -hero: Shows your current Hero stats and Bonuses
  • -pool: Pools together all gold from all players to the triggering player.
  • -roll: Rolls a number between 1 and 100 - for those who need it.
  • -skip: A command for player 1, skipping the Wait Timer, remember that the shop closes.
  • -debug: A command for player 1, one time usable, when you are really stuck on a map with no enemies.
Note: Very rarely the creeps get stuck somewhere, search the map for them.

Changes in Version 1.X:
  • The Sacrifice all Gold for X reward removes all players gold - be aware!
    This is to prevent cheesing the -pool command with sacrifice gold rewards.
  • Items are now re-purchasable and stackables increase in the shop per night.

Buffs:
  • Buffed certain stackable Attack items, to scale them better into late game
  • Buffed "Sacrifice all gold for X" to align with the strongest: all 1.4 and below -> 1.5
  • Buffed Max Stack completion, adding 100% on most item effects
  • Buffed Pillar Return Damage: 20% -> 25%

Nerfs:

  • So far none are needed

Added:

  • The Chicken: More or less "just a damage test target".
  • Sacrifice Gold Pool now includes INT and Max HP
  • The Pillar upgrades now include a armor buff to better counter long range enemies
  • Some secrets 🤫

Important to know:
Due to the Multiplayer nature of the map, dialog windows won't pause the game anymore!:
  • Player 1 should pick last, since the timers are still running thru events on Player 1, otherwise you have 20 seconds to pick your hero after Player 1
  • You have ~ 15 seconds to pick a hero, as soon as they appear in the pillar shop
  • On normal reward nights, you can take your time and wait into the day to pick a reward, if needed - don't die :^)
  • Shop is still only accessible in the night and has a ~ 15 seconds shopping window
  • On completed boss waves, you will get two reward windows, if you do not pick the first reward fast enough (20 seconds),
    the second window will overwrite and you will lose one reward choice.

( Since it is Based on Player 1 Food - All effects regarding difficulty are effecting Player 1 Food Count. Player 2 onwards will only sync to visualize the difficulty for them)
  • EXP and gold rewards are now shared, making it harder in the early game to afford items (Gold can be sent between players)
  • EXP share has a maximum range of 1200, with feedback i can either increase towards map wide share of leave it like it is
  • Player 2 has his own summon, spell damage, regen bonus and lifesteal scaling, effects on the Pillar count for all players

  • More Reward Options
  • More Items
  • More Abilities, re-implement Curse, Elune's Grace, Siphon Mana, Polymorph etc ---Re-Implement Done---
  • Traits in co-op..?
  • Secrets and Quests
  • Special Events

  • Lowering the difficulty is key to balance between fast enough Gold/Exp gain and not getting overrun / oneshot
    With 3 Players it gets too easy or too fast really quick, so communicate your choices
  • Try to focus on a specific build, do not go for everything at once. Support and Tank roles seem out of place but can
    be very viable in the late-game
  • Exp Share covers the whole map, so splitting up creep hordes is sometimes a good idea to not get surrounded
  • The pillar is weak to Siege units :^)
  • You can kill your pillar with HP reduction, as well as yourself, when you reduce your Base HP below your max (without items - lol)

You can inspect the map, it's not protected. Go easy on me please, i'm still learning the editor :)

Known Bugs (04/2025):
---FIXED--- In very rare cases (1/20) Player 2 can not pick a unit at start. Still working on a fix for that.
---FIXED--- The "-hero" command does not work properly for Player 2, displaying some numbers from Player 1 still.
---FIXED--- There are still some "Upgrade Ability X" Bugs, solving them as you read.
---FIXED--- Orb of Chaos (+5% Spelldamage) deactivated for now, there is a calculation bug that needs fixing
On longer games, Spells like Death and Decay, Smoke bomb or Flamestrike tend to bug out with visuals or damage, analyzing..

Neat and pretty much creative use of core gameplay mechanics with randomization, multiplayer and customization. However, there are some caveats like life steal no working on ranged units (doesn't seem to work on the Bone Collector). Approved.

Do you have permission from the author to edit/upload?

A credits list in the map description with the names of the authors whose resources you've used is mandatory. That includes models, skins, icons, custom spells, systems. Also, sounds, music and everything outside this site.

ADDITIONAL NECESSARY INFORMATION
  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
  • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.

As for the map, it is now in a playable stable Version and Players can play it co-op.
Rare bugs might still appear but its 95.55% done.

Edit: Yes it has big differences, it's a custom hero survival with various different aspects in gameplay and mechanics.

My friend and I tried playing co-op but the host keeps crashing before we play the game. The game loads in at 75% and then proceeds to crash the host while the second player comes in playing catch-up.

Yeah this seems to be a huge issue in the current version, i have to check on where it causes trouble. Maybe i overload warcraft 3 while the Loading screen is trying to catch up with all "map init" events.. I'll upload version 10 when it is fixed, sorry.

17.04 Edit: The newest Version 9 is now even more stable, it was a calculation per Player culprit that caused desync in many cases.
It may happen from time to time still, that's on blizzards netcoding side tho. Sadly i can't patch that :)
If you still experience Desyncs one after another, let me know.

the map is really fun. been reaching week 10 a few times with a friend, quite a nice map. would like to see a color indicator for what mobs are super buffed (i just died to 2 skeletons, i focused one of them down and that one had 8k damage and the other had 27k) other than that, would love a searing arrows like ability maybe. it could scale the mana cost with your spell power to keep it balanced? idk, glgl
