You should have added a WIP deadline.
At this point there will be 15 entries with this retarded ass system.
If by deadline one of the current doesn't have an entry, the one below will fill the gap. First come first serve basis.
The only issue is if you finish before one of the active contestants and doesn't get the 30 slot limit by the end.

The Hidden Shrine

Description

The hidden elven shrine deep in the mountains. This shrine was held hidden untill now...

Story Line

During the battle with Archimonde, most of the wild life was scattered around Ashinvale. Most of the animals were killed by the ruthless undead. But some resisted their destruction, and very few survived. Those that managed to live, ran deep in the mountain side, carved a cave, and created a shrine - the fountain of life. They lived here in peace, but one day, what was left of the undead army, Found the cave, carved in, and attacked what was left of the wild life. After that, the night elfs, found the cave, and decided to join the battle. Once they all entered, the earth started to shake, rocks were falling from the ceiling, the cave entrances closed in, trapping inside everyone that was in. Now, they battle for survival.

well i just saved one version previously and latest version as 2 different maps , and i send them at the same time, i hope thats not a problem ... Have not properly test it yet

Medium is tad big for 1 v 1. An appropriate size should be small. You also have a center creep aggro issue.
That being said, the overall landscape is in a coherent harmony. I like it.

No matter how much she had done, it is deemed a 3rd party intervening. Let the judges judge.
Nice map though. You're pretty much skilled at placing doodads.




To the participants:

I think screenshots should be taken using a default camera angle. A deviation from it would make it hard to grasp an idea of how the real map looks like.

I kinda made the angled pictures to make the description a bit better. But statistic wise, you'r right. But the overall map image(bird's eye view), should be more than enough to make the player's (people that download it) have a bit more sense of the map.

That makes sense too :)
For normal uploads, attracting people is a major issue but a contest screenshot should be focused more on conveying information.
It's just a suggestion. Not a rule though.

I dont want to be a party pooper, but @Twilight , @YesItsImba , @zhica, it seems to be that you have not registered in time and you will be very low down the waitlist. So you will only be able to participate if almost have of the people drop out. Or am I missing something?

I will continue to try to give feedback to those who are interested, but for now I will have to restrict myself to the participants who are at least on the waitlist. Feel free to write me a message If I missed your map or if you have made significant changes, as I start to struggle to keep track of everything.

To be honest, I'm not aiming for the prize, or the 1st place stuff. I just want people to notice my work, even if I get disqualified, I don't care. But still, thanks for the info!

I am probably doing this wrong but here is the final version.
I also didn't know how to properly do the fancy clear screenshot of the top view of the map because there was a blackness, so I pressed the V m8s!
The Map:
4 goldmines (1 to each player at the start and 2 extra in the wild)
2 goblin merchants
2 village mercenary camps
1 tavern
The map size is super small. Almost 64x64

Anyways i was 11th on the waitlist, however ill still finish the map :)

The point with the wait list was to put entrants that wanted to join in first a place where they could enter.
This contest is so fucking stupid.

If you don't like something in contest - just leave it kid, I'm so done of your whining.
In every post you are complaining on something, calm down.

@mafe Hm.. I would move the critters in front of the 3-2-1 green camp a bit closer, somewhere between the base and camp, or maybe just add a new one.

Also the trees in front of that camp, I think 3 would be enough, right now they're taking a bit too much room imo.
Maybe you could open up the map a bit by removing the green camps close to the shop, and make the treeline smaller. It is kinda lame having that treewall right in front of the ramp.

I'd scale down the purple burning building in the middle, it covers vision with the default camera.

I tried to create a map which is inbetween those fast 2 Player maps and slower 4 Player maps.

@ysuk9127 only gave it a quick look for now, the language seems fine to me.

I would remove the shipyards, they really do not fit.
You put the main bases on a +1cloff, but you hid it so well with the raise tool that it is kinda confusing and hard to see


@poantik Sadly there is a closed number of participants, + a waiting list.. it feels kinda bad to have a limit to this opportunity Imo.

I'd say still upload your map in the map section, not much more you can do for now unfortunately

1on1 map created with focus on balance and symmetry, hopefully allowing it to be a possible candidate for a competitive map - have played it a quite a few times by now and dynamics seem to be pretty interesting with both open areas and chokes.

Symmetrically placed it has:
2 open gold mines approximately even distance from both players
Tavern in middle
2 goblin merchants
2 mercenary camps
2 shops

I look forward to hear feedback and good luck to everybody in the contest! :)

My map is taking shape. Not sure about the name yet and there will still be some tweaks and stuff that will be changed, especially in terms of balance.

Sadly w3arena has a new policy that all new user get banned immediately (and takes ages to get unbanned) so it is really hard to find skilled players to test the map

The Goblin labs are moved further away from the main bases to weaken speedscroll sapper abuse and sapper abuse in general.

There are also a lot more green camps to create more possibilities for different creeproutes and to avoid the map being creeped empty immediatly.

Once scientists were excavating abandoned ruins that lie underneath the soil, up until greedy Kobolds realized that the ancient structures were hiding long lost ancestral artifacts and started flooding the research town

To anyone wanting to test a map, but having trouble with finding players for test or hosting on bnet, you can to get AMAI (adavanced melee ai) and use it to test your map. Of course, it is not the same as having humans try your map, but at least it is better than the standard blizzard AI.
But if you use it, be careful to install it only on a copy of your map, and not on the file you are actually working on.

Looking for playtesters and suggestions. I tried to make a use of shipyards since it's very rarely seen in maps (and when it is, it's usually not very fun to use). It's a bit different from what I posted in the WIP :cgrin: Maybe one day I'll finish that one too.
