Shadows of the Tides

Story

Azeroth is engulfed in the Second Great War. Across the Great Sea, islands under Alliance control are under siege by the Horde. Seeking to crush the Alliance defenders, the Horde is also searching for relics of the elves and other ancient races to empower their warlocks. A battleship of the Alliance was dispatched to defend the remote island of Mondragon, safeguarding its elven and human inhabitants. But on its mission, the ship was caught in a violent storm and capsized. Now, the shipwrecked survivors must uncover the secrets and stories of the ancient settlers—before the Horde gets to them first.

Gameplay

  • The RPG is fully compatible with both Classic and Reforged (many models have been adapted by me to ensure this).
  • Control your hero using WASD hotkeys, with a close-up camera view for an immersive experience.
  • Supports singleplayer and multiplayer with up to 3 players.
  • Choose from three heroes (Human, Orc, Elf), each of whom must align with one of two factions during the game.
  • Trade with merchants, complete quests, or defeat enemies to acquire better equipment.
  • Find teachers who can train you in new abilities or help you unlearn unwanted skills. Spend skill points to unlock new abilities.
  • Common Abilities: All three heroes can learn shared abilities that cost no mana (you start with only one common ability).
  • Faction Abilities: Each hero can learn unique abilities that cost mana (you start with only one faction ability).
  • Many paths lead to your goal—not all quests are mandatory. Forge your own path through the adventure.
  • A living, open world: Inhabitants react to the day-night cycle, and dangerous creatures like vampires roam the island at night.
  • Explore diverse environments: From lush forests to treacherous dungeons, with enterable buildings and hidden secrets.
  • Play alone or with up to two other players. The difficulty scales with the number of players at game start.
  • 50+ quests offer up to 9 hours of gameplay on Mondragon.
  • Warning! If your hero dies, the game ends for that player, unless the graveyard quest has been completed or the game is started without quest progress.
  • Before the game begins, adjust difficulty settings or speed up progress. Use [Force 2 Human] (Difficulty -> Add Computer) to tweak game settings—this is not a playable hero.
➤ Open/Empty → Default gameplay—heroes start at level 1 with no progress.
➤ Computer (Easy) → Heroes have increased HP, enemies have reduced HP. Five quests are already completed, and the first boss is defeated. Heroes start at level 3 with items.
➤ Computer (Normal) → Four quests are already completed, and the first boss is defeated. Heroes start at level 3 with items.
➤ Computer (Insane) → Heroes have reduced HP, enemies have increased HP.

Closing words

  • If the game crashes during or after the loading screen, close your internet browser and disable/exit background applications (e.g., Steam).
  • Most of the models, textures, sounds, music, and triggers were created by me, many of course based on Blizzard's work.
  • Translation errors may occur.

I tested the RPG together with 2 other people, the controls worked but unfortunately it is far from perfect. rpg control in warcraft3 is complicated, i have tried to improve it for a long time. in rare cases the hero starts to rotate, the W button then stopped working, pressing A or D once everything worked again. Moving with the right mouse button pressed only works with deselected heroes (unfortunately I had to deactivate it)

important:
[Force 2 Human] (Difficulty -> Add Computer) is not a playable hero and only to adjust the difficulty

Hm... Did matter that map is originaly made on deutsch(I think <D)? Maybe "W" button can't be triggered on non-deutsch keyboard?
I'll try again, anyway.

Hm. I tried again on old and new version - I moved!
But after I named my hero (I watched intro and nothing told me that I need to name my hero, but If I skip - I saw that message).
Overall I feel a Gothic presence in map - same oriented map, "strange" movement and unusual (for me) attack button. Also amnesia, recovered after shipwreck…
Is this a Risen? :D
And what I can tell about map:
  • So right or left click for "Interact" ability? I tried to use right click - seems nothing happens. But if I use left mouse button - hero interacts Ignore that, I dumb ;D;
  • I can walk through some buildings in old miners city;
  • And why I have completed quests in questlog?
  • Suicidal timberweed >_>;
Although I didn't played too much, I felt it.
But I think that turning off automatic camera rotation is meaningless, imo.
Anyway, good map!

Thanks for the feedback, I fixed it.
Many years ago i played Gothic a lot, that will be the reason. ;)
Completed quests can be found when you have inserted the computer (Easy or Normal) into Force 2.
In rare cases the automatic camera annoyed me, so I wanted a manual one. but yes that is very optional

A really nice map that has its gameplay impeded by the way the camera works in that it causes issues with targeting, knowing where you are on the map and what direction you go too and creates issues with reading what NPCs say.

A credits list in the map description with the names of the authors whose resources you've used is mandatory. That includes models, skins, icons, custom spells, systems. Also, sounds, music and everything outside this site.

  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.

Cool Looking map- NEEDS A MUCH BETTER DESCRIPTION here on the website, or perhaps in the QUEST Journal, as death is permanent ( Mabye idk my other player died and quit or its permanent) Learning a talent did nothing. Just loaded playing now. All ican say for now is more Information on mechanics sucha s learnin talents if death is permanent etc. would be greatly appreciated along with translation of some things i see ( German?)

Yes, you are definitely right, the beginning is difficult and I described that badly. If the hero dies, the game will be over for that player if the graveyard quest has not been unlocked or you start the game without quest progress -> Computer Difficult (Easy or Normal). This graveyard quest in the first area is a bit difficulty. Level up to level 3 and take a few items as a backup, the quest should be doable.

I translated the map from German to English a few months ago using google translator. Please write where there are errors in the translation.
And I forgot to delete the german file CommandStrings.txt. Downloading version 1.10 will fix the problem.

There is only 1 talent available at the beginning and you need 1 skillpoint to skill it. There are more and more talents as the game progresses, join a faction for more talents (only teachers can learn you new abilities/talents and unlearn skilled ones).

I have update the description text on this website.
