Northrend RPG is a role-playing story-based adventure map for solo and co-op play with up to 3 players. The game offers 9 unique characters, each with their own backstory and individual quests. The gameplay is centered around completing various types of missions, providing an immersive experience for players.

Story​

Northrend RPG takes place after Sylvanas, leader of the Forsaken faction, seized the former capital of Lordaeron. Continuing her war against the Lich King Ner'zhul and his servant Arthas, Sylvanas sends her agents to Northrend to prepare the ground for a full-scale invasion by the Forsaken forces.


Game Features​

  • Full optimization for both Classic SD versions (1.26–1.31) and the newest Reforged HD patches (1.32–1.36+).
  • Over 20 diverse missions, with approximately 7 hours of gameplay. Missions range from traditional escort and boss-killing missions to unconventional tasks like hijacking, and participating in gladiatorial battles.
  • 9 unique heroes, each with 12 non-standard abilities, their own variants of dialogue, and individual gameplay missions.
  • Unconventional mechanics for leveling up, damage dealing, loot collection, reputation management, and hiring mercenaries. These mechanics maintain the spirit of the original Warcraft III while also offering a fresh, exciting experience.
  • A custom character menu that enables players to store items, apply potions, manage the resurrection system, adjust the game camera, and much more.

- A new items available for purchase at the "Mercenary Camp":
- Mercenary Legion Banner. Grants "Battle March" aura: +20% movement speed, +15% combat speed for nearby friendly and neutral units.

Amazing map with a very dedicated author, npcs even have night-day cycle just for the atmosphere (and 1 quest :p). Author consistently updates it and engages with the community for 3 years already. Russian version even has custom professional voice acting! Lovely Discord too :).

I finished playing this map, multiple times and i loved it!
I played it solo and completed it 2 times.

Once with the Mountain Champion on Normal difficulty

~Negatives/Bugs

- After leveling the Aura of Chaos from the Succubus hero to max lvl (lvl 5) the aura doesn't affect the hero anymore but it does affect everyone else (allies)

- About the main quest story with the Succubus hero, i couldn't complete the first quest, the one where you have to "Submit a local citizen to be torn apart by demons" , i did complete the other one, where i bewitched a hero and got his item, but the other one with the citizen i have no clue how to do it, i think the game should show some hints to the player with this quest.

- I think after you defeat the undeads and destroy the citadel, it should show in the final text the difficulty you played on, how many bosses you killed and how many quests you completed, this way you can get a better understanding of the player achievements and the player can see with his own eyes what he did as well and get a sense of accomplishment!

- The biggest flow i see with this map is not having an end game boss, yea i know the whole banding together with your allies and all of them attacking the undead base was pretty epic, not gonna lie! But i still felt the need to test my hero against a strong boss after destroying the Undead bastion!

What if after the Undead base is destroyed a new bonus Boss spawns somewhere on the map, he can be something like the manifestation of all the wild creatures on the map that the player killed, if you think about it what the player did was kind of like a genocide :xxd: when you go and kill all the creatures and their leaders, they stop spawning so you pretty much eradicated the whole species in that Northrend area anyway.. yea.

So because of that, the whole Nature of the landscape gets furious and it spawns a Demi-God like Creature, an Element of nature that represents the wild beasts you killed, The Monarch of the Beasts! that can be the final end-game bonus boss, what do you think? :wink:



~Positives

- The fist most interesting aspect of the map for me were the heroes!

This map has one of the best heroes i have seen, their spells are so well made and work really well with each other doing various combos and what now.

I liked how each hero had their own theme with their spells!

My favorite hero is the succubus, i really liked the idea of permanently increasing the hp and dmg with each high lvl creep, even tho i think it felt a bit underwhelming, i thought it would have a bigger impact, but by the end of the game i didn't really have that much more hp and dmg than my previous run with the other hero.

I believe that her passive "Soul Collection" Trait should be buffed, so that every kill adds to the effect, something like this:

Killing the following creeps:
Each lvl 1 to lvl 3 creeps will add 1 hp (after killing 5 of them)
Each lvl 4 to lvl 5 creeps will add 1 hp and 1 dmg (after killing 4 of them)
Each lvl 6 to lvl 7 creeps will add 1 hp, 1 dmg and 3 mana (after killing 3 of them)
Each lvl 8+ creeps will add +1 all stats (after killing 2 of them)



- Second most interesting aspect of the map were the quests!

One of the best quest systems i have seen, i loved how each hero had its own unique story and i liked how it affected each quest and interaction with the characters and the world.

All the quests were really interesting, none of them felt out of placed or boring!


- I liked how each zone of the map had its own unique creature types and their own boss.

- The items were also amazing, Lots of variety and the items themselves were't just plain boring ones, they all had their own unique spin to them and even had special abilities!

- There were some item recipes as well, but i feel like most of those were pretty weak and not worth making, i think they should be buffed so the players have a reason to craft the recipes.

- Even tho i am not a big fan of restrictions for items (having to only wear 1 type of each item and max 2 weapons) i think it worked well here in this map, this way the players can mix things up and try multiple builds for their heroes.

I really enjoyed the whole saga with the Stone Element tablets and how getting them 1 by 1 added into a much stronger item, and each new creature that dropped the stone tablet was stronger and stronger, that was a fantastic idea! :grin:

I wish more map makers would implement this kind of ideas in their own maps.

- I like the concept with the Gift of the Forsaken, i think its a really good way of adding to the difficulty and raising the stakes of the game.

- I enjoyed the custom music, but there were times where the custom music faded away and the normal war3 music kicked in and replaced it completely.

- I liked the idea with the orb effects, in most maps you can't have more than 1 orb effect on your heroes and that sucks, i always wondered why shouldn't they stack, and in this map you get just that, 9 orb effects that stack with eachother and on top of that they don't even take space in the inventory! Well done with this idea! more map makers should implement this kind of ideas! :thumbs_up:



All in all i had a blast playing this map! This is peak map making right there! :infl_thumbs_up:

My final rating for this map is an S Tier with 100 out of 100 points!

  1. The out of combat movement speed bonus doesn't fade if you use Boomerang Axe on an enemy or if an enemy damages your hero.
  2. Hero always select during cinematic mode.
  3. Best item the Great Golem could give is a +1 def figurine! (Stone Element)?
  4. I would've liked the boss fights not to be so similar, basically, stronger enemies casting some spells and summoning lesser creeps. Some arena and unique gameplay mechanics would have made boss fights what they sound like.
  5. I would also have appreciated more offside story/quests/varied NPC interaction (some feeling/emotion about how it is to be in Northrend and other stuff). Most of the time you hack and slash.
  6. The nerubian scout the most far east (faceless zone) stopped 3 times along the way for some reason.
  7. Would be nice to have the Way Gates on the minimap as it's a pain to find them through the minimap if you don't activate them as you walk through the black mask/the first time you find them.
  8. But if the trolls locked themselves in behind the ice wall, aren't they starving or something? Or do they magically break and reassemble the wall as they please and in a matter of seconds?
  9. While the demolitionist was planting the 4th barrel, from the north an ice troll priest came, hit the dwarf once or twice and just ran away to the north.
  10. On the 5th barrel timer, the attacking trolls are weaker than before.
  11. When you use a Way Gate, the camera doesn't move to where the hero is teleported.
  12. Looks like the undead are totally clueless, not even having scouts to detect the caravan. Nobody attacks it if all creeps were killed beforehand.
  13. It seems you can reach max level (35?) without finishing choosing all spell levels.
  14. Would be cool if all the allied troops would play their stand victory animation after the Black Citadel crumbles instead of standing idly.
  15. For some reason Shades still spawn after the enemy has been defeated.
  16. I guess by the time you finish the main quest, all side quests are done so no need to still explore Northrend?
A neat diverse gameplay and creative old-schoolish RPG with replayability, both singleplayer (albeit harder) and multiplayer modes.

Hello there, I noticed that Rakaiah's level 5 Aura of Chaos now affect allied units but the aura does not affect her anymore. I was wondering if it's intended or a bug?

In Rakaiah's quest how do you do the submit local to demon? Is Mordin the only one you can charm?

Also you can charm Blood Elf Leader and other player's heroes.

Rakaiah can summon demons, which are able to attack settlers. For example, you could try to kill patrolling rifleman in Dun Nor cemetery.
I can't attack settlers even with summons. Do I have to finish Blood elf questline since charming Blood elf leader does nothing.

Thank you! If this map receives enough support and interest from the community, it will be possible to implement AI-generated speech for dialogues.

The map contains numerous hours of dialogues with 30 different characters. Generating and checking so many audio files, ensuring their quality is close enough to real human dubbing, requires a significant amount of time and effort. Therefore, I would like to be certain that the community truly desires this feature before proceeding.

Great RPG, enjoyed playing it a lot. Played it on "Challange" difficulty with Derek Miner.


It was fun to play this character but it felt a bit OP IMO. After clearing the map I managed to solo the Undead base in like 15 minutes without committing to the final quest. Didn't play other characters, so maybe it's fine for this difficulty level.

About Grenadier, It is ok that you find a way to finish the game without completing the main quest line for any of the playable heroes. In particular, In case where you cleared the map and play at ''Challange" difficulty.

to make it HD friendly, unit variations should have their tints removed; it's just very janky on HD models, also not all custom SD models have HD counterparts
Tints of the creeps have been dimmed in the latest update. Thank you for that comment.

About new HD models. Yes, we are working on that. But we still need help from the community. For example, with HD Nerubian broodmother .

Hello, this map is awesome. I am still exploring it. Does anyone know how to take this banner? It is founded near the boss meat wagon.

This is one of the secrets on the map, so be aware, there will be a spoiler for the secret.

A bit south of this location, where the canals end and the mountain lake begins, there is an entrance to the vents. One of the vents is broken, but it can be fixed with a repair kit. This will allow water to flow into the canal, causing the banner to emerge, and it can be picked up.

Very good map 5 stars, but why does the Tinker only have 1 quest (get 10,000 gold) when the other heroes all have multiple actual quests?

Regarding Goblin Trid's personal adventure :goblin_yeah: , the idea is that he has unique features when completing main tasks, which play a part in his personal quest. These include the ability to repair without a repair kit, stealing a bomb:goblin_boom:, selling goblin-coins, and so on. In any case, thank you for the report! If these features do not feel as substantial as the full quests of other characters, then perhaps we should consider improving the goblin's storyline. We'll gather more feedback and consider expanding the quest in one of the upcoming updates.

Do you mean recent blizzard's micro patch for reforged? Or new version of this map?
I don't know if the two things are correlated (I didn't even notice that there has been a patch for Reforged), all I know is that in testing the latest version of the map the music had vastly lower volume than in all the rest of the game. Also there were strange issues that I didn't notice in previous versions, like orange-colored bars appearing over buildings. I chose the Elven huntress with the bear and played with Reforged graphics, for context.

Could you run a one of previous version of the map and check the presence of these bugs in your client? It more looks like a bugs connected with your current Warcraft version, not with map.

For example 1.32.

That version DOES work and doesn't have the bugs.
 
Hey, I seem to have encountered a bug in the SD version where the quest Interception doesn't seem to finish, I defeated all the waves only to find a random lich from a previous wave still standing around so I went and killed it but still nothing is happening :/

Other than that, loving the map so far!

Thanks to report! I will try to catch this bug. Anyway, there is anti-softlock system for this quest. It automatically ends after 1 hour, even there are still living enemies.

This map was really fun and well designed! I liked how open the world was and the fact that NPCs will have extra dialogue in the event you did their quests already. I completed the map twice, HD Grenadier (Mostly followed the main quest) and SD Tinker (Almost 100% the map, missing 1 secret).

The Grenadier was a pretty tough class honestly, very squishy and the dummy ability isn't very reliable at holding aggro from my experience. I had a lot of difficulty in the beginning, especially with those spiders poisoning you during the dog quest and trolls netting you (basically instakill). The giant turtle boss was kinda unfair too as the devour ability is guaranteed death on your hero, so I had to do boat shenanigans and sacrifice my naga friend a lot :cry:.

The ending battle was also really scuffed as I thought the elves and dwarves would use the portal gates I opened up. The elves ended up being very late to the party, oops!
The Tinker playthrough went a lot more smoothly and better. The tinker's summons were absurdly tanky while I had to level my grenadier to level 3 and still won by the skin of my teeth against the wolf boss, the tinker obliterated the wolf boss at level 2 without breaking a sweat.

I also thought the grenadier had amazing nuke abilities but the tinker really bested him in all aspects. The lightning strike, landmine and goblinburg destroyed everything and the mech came in clutch for healing and tanking. I even managed to destroy one group of the undead boats using a couple of well-placed mines.

It was seriously fun walking around the map with a tanky horde of robo-goblins just guarding around you, while you nuking every boss on sight. I managed to get extremely expensive items very early since I was capable of killing most bosses solo. In the end, I destroyed the undead base without any help as the Goblinburg ability + Crown that refreshed abilities demolished almost every building in 2 (or 1 if lucky) uses.

I'll do a replay again as the Necro or Paladin when the AI voices comes by in the future! I also look forward to maps you people develop in the future.

Greetings Makkad! Me and a friend really love this map and enjoyed playing it. We had an issue where we disconnected after 7 hours of gameplay and obviously Warcraft 3 can't load saved games for online. We had this occur several times and we're sick of restarting...can I ask for a favour and ask for you to give us a custom version of the map with a bunch of xp books (enough to get to level 20ish on 2 heroes) on the floor so we can skip the early grind and actually finish the map? We can't open it in world editor to do it ourselves.

We'd be extremely grateful for this, thank you for your time!
