My terraining sucks as well. Aldo, lucky its a dungeon, so using blizz cliffs "man made" ones, makes it look good, luckily. I'm going for sunken ruins temple, with loads of crystals and stuff like that.

I got starting point, and first trap too. Its a classic. Find a way threw a trap field. Simplest one for starters(aldo well see :))).

I hope I will muster 60 minutes of game time.

so, I thought I could share some more wips.
and yes, you can walk on those pipes :)

Okay here are some other pics:
On the first picture you can see an old building with a colapsed roof.
The other one is inside of this building.

Well someone else is using a dragon as their character so yeah sure

That would be me

Sure I'll enter. Ive got a ruins riddle map.

I guess it doesn't matter but I've already taken the sunken ruins/naga theme

@ Asomath: erhm... no XD, would be to hard

Add then remove the Storm Crow ability and remove the units collision - if it touches the ground (you could probably check the units Z position) it falls of the pipes and its collision is turned back on.

Looks cool, though make sure that most of your map is indoors. You'll lose points if theres extensive parts outside (not that you can't go outside, though Syleona has made it clear that its meant to be an indoors map).

I don't mean that it's to hard to make, it's to hard for the player. He only have to miss
a pipe with a mouse click, and you have to do the whole thing again.

I already thought of including checkpoints, and preventing to save normally.
I must see how I will include it.

My map is stage based, so whenever you die you will revive in the beginning of the stage and everything is reset. Also, its life based, so when your survival points is zero you have lost and will have to restart the whole map.

not true, there also should be traps ;)

Not all traps have to be deadly ;)

Hmmm, now I'm running into an odd problem. The camera will only turn smoothly if it turns in a certain direction with the Apply Camera function. It can't turn Right for some reason, instead of taking the nice smooth right over 1 second, it completely turns all the way around left over 1 second.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Edit: Actually its not just left, it just seems to have problems with certain turns

I have decided to do something really great! :D

I am gonna make my map difrent based on the character you are playing with! :D

So all characters have difrent gameplay, and therefore it won't be the same map if you play with the 1st hero, or the 2nd, or the 3rd one! :D

Though they will have some touching points at the really big puzzles, depending on the hero you play it will be either 70% action / 30% puzzles, 70% puzzle / 30% action, or 50% action / 50% puzzle :D

I think you will like what i came up with ;)

EDIT:
@WherewolfTherewolf

I think i had the same problem earlier :p

JASS:
        set a=ModuloReal((DESIRED_ANGLE - CURRENT_ANGLE), 2*bj_PI) // caluclate delta angle
if a>bj_PI then // map the delta angle from 0..2*Pi to -Pi..Pi
            set a=-2*bj_PI+a
        endif
// a contains the delta angle, meaning CURRENT_ANGLE+a=DESIRED_ANGLE

You guys are all making maps like you're doing a campaign level from wc3.
1 character and you got a 'mission'.

I'm more working on a map with player vs player action. Like footmen frenzy has 4 sides and dota has 2 sides. This makes the gameplay never ending because you can always face better opponents. If you make a game that's player(s) versus computer/dungeon style then someone will always be able to finish it and put the map aside. I don't want my maps to be put aside!!!

Its a singleplayer contest.. Maps isnt more popular because they are multiplayer maps. They just dont show up on battle.net.

[EDIT]

@Boneknight: Thats awesome. I love all the details you made. I will look forward to se the result.

Great.. single player contest didn't know that.
I'm deffo out because I just don't like single player maps. No tention or anything in a single player map. Well then I can safely give away my idea for a map. Maybe I will even make this withoud a contest then.

Idea was:
Treasure Hunters

You play XvsX (dunno teams yet, something like 3v3 recommended I think) goblin versus dwarf. You start outside an old temple on opposite sides of eachother. In the temple are ~25 different materials. Every faction wants to build a big engine to defeat the other faction. To build an engine you need materials. Every player get's a mission to get 1 of the materials from inside and has to search for it. When he hands it in his team gains 1 resource point and with 9 resource points you win (because your siege engine has been built then). In the temple there are alot of foot switches that open a door but at the same time close an other door. Behind some doors are monsters, traps or other various good/bad things. Like this you can even lock up your opponents by pressing certain foot switches. So all in all a big puzzle game where players play against eachother to get their siege engine first.

Well that was my idea:) 2bad it's single player only.
But good luck to all contestants!

You can have plenty of tension in a single player map. On top of that you don't have to worry about leavers or some deuch on the other team calling you every random insult he can think of instead of actually helping his team.

Yeah well it's just my opinion.
Can give various reasons but I won't because I'm a bit disappointed now and might say bad stuff:grin: You see like everyone probably has, I really had the idea I could win this haha:wink:
And not to go to the offtopic I won't say anything about "my opinion" anymore:)
