To play as the Ogres select Orcs with 90% Handicap
Since the end of the Second War, the Ogres have been constantly mistreated by the other races. Under the short-sighted leadership of Thrall the Ogres were removed from the Horde. Although he would later (reluctantly) re-enlist the Stonemaul clan, the majority of Ogres in Azeroth have resorted to forming small clans and mercenary bands. A Human expedition in Northrend hired one of these bands, which vanished shortly afterwards. Treachery is suspected. The great warlord Mug'thol, through evil magic no doubt, was turned into a slave by the undead.
Such outrages and humiliations cannot stand! Under the visionary leadership of Mug'thol, son of Mug'thol (no relation to the previously mentioned Mug'thol) the clans have been united to form the mighty Ogre Legion. Trading loincloths for armour and wooden clubs for heavier wooden clubs this new legion has begun to arm themselves for their inevitable retribution against the pygmy races of Azeroth. Now, all will tremble upon hearing the terrifying battle cry, "M
E SMAS
H YOU!"
The Ogres of Azeroth are a powerful race that emphasises their mighty melee attacks and natural talent for spellcraft. They lack proper architecture and range, but such a trade-off is well worth it.
Advantages
The Upon completion of the Lair building, a Gronn will instantly be trained for
free at its location! These giants are slow but very hard to kill. In addition to their high attack damage, they can send enemy units flying through the air, temporarily disabling them and disrupting their formation. As a bonus, every time the Lair is upgraded the Gronn becomes faster and even harder to kill! Be warned though, if this colossus falls it will give a lot of experience and replacing it will cost you resources.
The food production building for the Ogres. Not only does building one give you a free Gronn (
whoo!) but it can be upgraded to provide even more food at a relatively cheap cost (
woah!). Following the old Ogre wisdom of "
putting all the eggs in one basket" there can only be 1 Lair at a time, but this also means you save a lot of space in your base and don't have to worry about using workers to build more of them. The drawback of this is that if the Lair should be destroyed then you will lose most of your food so make sure it is protected.
Most Ogre units have the ability to enlarge themselves at the cost of increasing their food cost. This will increase their maximum health and size. Keep in mind that this change is permanent and if used liberally you may find yourself with a very cost-inefficient army. On the other hand if you have a unit that is surrounded, you may be able to have it escape by using Fatten.
