The man turns around again.
"I should have known that some of you would not know.
I guess an explanation is in order then."
Then man pulled out a big book, apparently from nowhere, and opened it.
From it's pages sprung a blue sphere that grew and soon the entire group were standing inside it, even Ashen and Meyla, that suddenly found themselves down with the rest of the group.
Meyla noted that she was still holding the gem.
Now, the man begun speaking.
And as he spoke, moving images portraying the things he spoke of appeared in front of the group.
"Not long ago you were all present on the Isle of Rafia in the Mortal Plane.
Whether you were there on a journey or quest, or maybe by accident, does not matter.
What matters is that you were all present when the greatest catastrophe since the Veiling of Urnung.
You see, what happened is that a very powerful mage known as Warplord Mourg had recently suffered a great loss: The loss of an old friend.
One of Mourg's old travelling companions, Sestina Lamente, had been banished to the outer planes of existance by Xall Planebreaker, leader of the Black Spectres, during what had started out as a harmless duel.
When Mourg heard this he broke down. He had travelled with Sestina almost since the beginning of his 'career' and they had grown attached to each other on a rather physical plane.
He locked himself inside his subtereanan chamber in the Drak'Ron capital for several years, and nothing was heard of him during that time.
But then, everyone both heard, saw and felt the work of the Maddened Warplord.
Mourg had long ago invented a device that at any time allowed him to open a portal to a person that bore it.
Sestina bore a such device, and for all those years inside his chamber Mourg had tried to open a gateway to her.
But he had failed. He had not been able to produce enough energy to create a dimensional link between him and her.
In a final struggle to save Sestina, Mourg tapped into the power of his own soublade, fueling a portal with his own life energy, and the portal opened.
But Mourg had expected all along that Sestina would be in Godspace, the great tree that houses the Archbeing, a dimensional hall of doors where even The Five Planes is just a simple world among millions of others, but she was not.
She was OUTSIDE godspace, in darkspace.
And as Sestina tumbled through the dimensional door Mourg had opened, something terrible followed her.
The thing that followed her was an entity of pure warp.
This being is the opposite of reality, creation and certanity. And it instantly started turning the world around it into a incomprehendable mocking shade of what it was before, infinitely reversing itself and the things around it.
Mourg and Sestina managed to escape the entity due to Mourg's mastery of portals and magical transportation, but most of the Drak'Ron capital and the lands around it were turned into a warped zone that cannot be described as anything else than 'Out of Place'.
Immediately, all of the nine Dragonpriests, the protectors of the five planes and the island of Rafia, rushed to Mourg's chamber to prevent this terrible being, now known as The Entity, from gaining foothold in our world and to send it back to Darkspace.
There they managed to force the back through the portal.
But they did not manage to send it back to from where it came.
Instead, the entity slipped through a crack in reality and entered a plane of volatile creation.
It's mere pressence shaped the newfound dimension into a real plane, looking somewhat like a darker version of Rafia and the rest of The Mortal plane.
This is where we are now.
And here, in this dark mirror-plane, the entity settled.
And from here, it slowly begun spreading it's terrible influence and power to the other planes, wreaking havoc in our world.
All the gods and the nine Dragonpriests combined their powers and managed to hold the dark intrusion at bay, but if a single one of them as much as tried to enter the sixth plane and deal with the entity, the entity's dark power would immediately begin slipping into the space left behind by the travelling god.
The gods and Dragonpriests realised that this could very well be the end of creation, as they could not hold up their defences forever.
But then, one of the mortals that had been present on Rafia when the catastrophe happened made a great discovery.
A small group of people that had been present on Rafia when the catastrophe happened had been granted a special power, one that allowed them to tap into the entity's terrible force and use it to command a new type of magic.
These mortals could travel into the Sixth plane, these mortals could challenge the entity, these mortals could save creation.
Among thes mortals, are you.
As the gods realised this, they were of course overwhelmed with releif and joy.
They promised a great reward to any mortal that defeated the entity, a reward so great that many mortals willingly entered the sixth plane to try their luck against the entity:
Any mortal that emerged from battle with the entity Victorious, would ascend to new heights of power, and become a god."
The man closed his book.
"This is why you are here.
I do not know how you managed to pass to the Sixth plane without knowing, butit is very clear that you have all been granted a small piece of the Entity's power, and so far you have been using it well."
