"You kill a Black Spectre by cutting his soulblade out of his body."
Silence.
"A Black Spectre's soulblade merges with his heart. They become one. To kill a black Spectre you must cut out his heart and destroy it."
More silence.
"If you destroy a Black Spectre's body before you destroy his heart, his heart will work like a Phylactery and regenerate him within ten seconds."
Dead silence.
"And no,"
Void silence.
"You CANNOT destroy his body and his heart in the same strike. It is for some reason impossible."
Mumbling.
"As for the reward..."
General talking crowd sounds.
"anyone who can bring proof of having slain the Black Spectre will be awarded a peice of armour or weaponry from FarTalon's treasure vault."
Exitement.
"...And one thousand gold pieces."
Cheers.

The thing is that we don't know what it is i'm suffering from, so right now theire researching abit into it.
They don't know if it's contagious, they don't know if it can be fatal or not, they don't know what the hell it is. They just know that i've got it. And THAT sucks. :(

Mourg pushed through to the front of the crowd to Towershield.
"I am ready," he said, "And I believe most of those here are, too. Who's ready to face the big bad ghost?" he roared, met by a returning roar from the two dozen adventurers around him. Mourg prepared to rush in, although slightly slower than his fellow adventurers. After all, one thousand gold was worth considerably less if you were dead.

"Hmm... Okay."
Nall took up a key from his pocket.
"The gate will now be open for ten minutes."
As the gate opened, a manic laughter could be heard from within the mine.
I send you my greetings from the otherworld, mortals. I send you my greetings from the chaotic plane. I send you my greetings from death. And i beckon you closer...
Nall looked at the masses.
"This is LAST CHANCE to turn back."

OOC: any player not able to come on before tomorrow will just be assumed in the mine.

Some adventurers were cowardly and walked off. Only a few dared enter the madman's den. Brandan entered the mine with haste, he did have an advantage - most mines were run by dwarves, the dwarves would have tunnels that invaders would have to crawl through whilst they could walk. Soulblade in hand, he rushed into the darkness.

His knowledge would see him through. For instance, he knew that the spectre wouldn't hide or run. He would pick of the weak from the shadows and mentally break down the strong. The Spectres call from before was intended to scare, and Brandan knew what those with weak minds did when scared. Mages can't cast spells without focus, Warriors let their guard down, Rouges lose their keen eye - fear does bad things to good people.

Brandan could only hope that the Spectre dies, if he kills him or not. Weaker adventurers might get captivated by the Spectres power and try to bond with their soulblade. That would be dreadful. Brandan admired the manipulative power of the Spectre, he had chased off half of the raid in one sentance.

Brandan seperated his soulblade into Bash and Break. Speed was his advantage, he wouldn't lose it to a two handed axe. No matter what, danger was coming.

Mourg decided to enter the center of the cavern, and wait there. Listening for the tell-tale screams that would come from the Spectre's victims, Mourg readied his soulblade and waited.
He didn't need to wait long; the first scream came from a foolish fighter who had run to the end of the cavern. He wasn't alone; there was some kind of dark shadow next to him, doing something. While the poor quality of the light prevented Mourg from seeing exactly what was going on, he was glad he couldn't, as the screams indicated it wasn't pleasant. After a moment of hesitation, Mourg decided to try his spell to see how well it worked on something with more mind than a zombie. Making his brief chant and signs, Mourg threw it at the spirit just before the screams turned into the gurgles of a man near death.

OOC: For those of you who don't remember, this spell clouds the mind of an undead being, causing it to forget about my presence, and perhaps that of others, for a short time. More powerful undead creatures who have at least some semblance of a mind, however, can resist it, so it's up to Dragonson if the spell works or not.

Huntico entered to watch this amusing display. His spear ready to provide some protection. He moved past the zombie party and saw even more zombies. "Flare" Fire was shot at the zombies. The zombies were burning towards him. He moved away to release flaming zombies that will die over time. "Just move out of the way. the fire would take care of them."

Geeron had no trouble seeing in the dark, if anything it aided him. He was just a dark silhouette, blending with the dark, only his eyes gave off a faint glow....

Mourg assumed that his spell hadn't done anything, as the Shade dropped the dead man's corpse and turned to the shadows. Mourg realized that they were doomed if they sat like this; the creature was a master of shadows and would pick them off one by one. Only by confronting it would they win. Taking a deep breath, Mourg let out a roar and charged the spectre. It turned around, apparently startled that someone would face it.

OOC: Alright, let's stop dancing circles and start fighting.

Huntico took this as an opportunity for an attack. He moved through the darkness, he ready to attack when the shade attacked. The others were the best for him to take good shots. This was to easy, unless he defeated this group, he thought.

Mourg took a slash at the spectre, aiming for what used to be a head. A clawed hand deflected his blow, and another darted in for his belly. Remembering the screams of the shade's first victim, Mourg sucked in his belly and struck down on the grasping limb with his soulblade. While no visible damage was dealt, the shade darted back to the shadows with a screech. Mourg retreated to the center of the cavern with the group of heroes who had gone there.

OOC: We should wait for the others to join in; we're leaving them behind. I'm headed for bed anyway.

IC: Huntico took this chance and nailed the shade to the ground. This was cause by the spear shot to the head. "Where is your master, shade."
"Die mortal, I will never tell you."
"Oh yes you will." He took the spear out and ran to the circle. This movement was followed by shadow darts.

OOC: SoL, rangers DO NOT use magic. Atleast not by default.
You have to learn it first.

IC:
Suddenly the room they were standing in were all silent.
Infront of them were two doors. One marked with a moon, one with a sun.

OOC: If/when you open a door, do not do anything in the new room until i've described it's looks and told you what's in there. From now on, I (and not you.) play the monsters, alright? :p (This is to maintain order. A thing which i constantly cling to...)

"It seems to have ran away..", said Geeron. This was suspicious. "I say we open the door marked with a moon."

OOC: Makes much more sense for you to control monsters, Dragonson. I was simply waiting for others to show up. Is it allowed for us to control our fellow adventurers (the NPC's), or is that your task, too?

The Shade had fled, and apparently wasn't in the room. Now that the threat of evil was gone, at least temporarily, Mourg took the chance to examine the room more carfully. The only remarkable feature was two doors on the far side of the room, one marked with a sun and the other a moon.
"I say the door with the Sun on it," Mourg replied to the vampire. "The symbols could mean nothing, but this Shade is a creature of darkness, and if there is light in that Sun room we would have an advantage over it."

OOC: What happens when a door is opened? Is it possible to open both at the same time, or do we need to agree on which door to open?

I would prefer to controll the NPC's myself yes :) Glad you agree.

Did you just ask that? :p
The DM doesen't tell what effect the trap has before it's been triggered.
And hey, if one of you decides not to be a team player, that's how it is :p
This is RP! And good RP is rewarded!

"We need to stay together," Mourg called out to the vampire. "A single adventurer won't be able to handle this thing." Thinking for a moment, Mourg added, "I shall open the Sun door, and you can open the Moon door. If one of us is in trouble, they are right next to each other, so help will be a few steps away." Walking up to the Sun door, Mourg called out, "Are you in agreement?"

As Niachluc finished that sentance, something black flew from the walls, cannonned into him, and left a small wound across his chest. Cursing, (i know that this is god Emoting, bu i'm the DM damnit!) Niachluc noticed that the wound swiftly healed by itself, but let a ill-lookin black scar.

Brandan was still fairly lost in the darkness. Well, lost wasn't the word, he knew where the exit was, just not where everywhere else was. He knew that if he made a high pitched noise, the mithril crystals will respond with vibrations. He memorised the exposed crystals locations, so he could find his way.

Suddenly he found his way to two doors. One had the sun, the other the moon. Dwarves origionally thought the ancients controlled the sun, which was a symbol of destruction and loss, and the moon, which was a symbol of the end and beasts. He also noticed that the sun door was open, and feint sounds of swordplay were heard from inside.

Brandan rushed in blindly, Bash and Break in his hands.

The shadow noticed brandon, and rushed towards him.
But as it neared the sun door it dissolved with a scream, and a suddenly the sun begun shining.
It was a white light, looking ver holy.
And throuhgout the mines, a loud voice were heard that shaked the cave walls:
ONE.

The shadow flew right by Mourg. His reflex swing completely missed it, but as it neared the Sun door it exploded with a wailing screech. The Sun on the door was glowing with a white light, apparently a ward or trap set against creatures like it.

OOC: Did the Shade leave it's soulblade behind, or was it completely destroyed by the sun ward thingy?

OOC:
Not all things have soulblades ;) Some creatures are like the Black Spectres by default.
Also, your soulblade vanishes when you die. (you die if your soulblade is destroyed, also.)

IC:
Taiion saw a long corridor. Lit by various torches, shining in a pale purplish light.
There seemed to be no creatures, but purple light is know for it's many illusionary purposes.

Geeron strode in after Taiion, he wasn't afraid of any Illusionary magic, his senses would guide him right.
