Fate of Azeroth - Classic

Fate of Azeroth is a strategy game that blends Warcraft III lore with “what if” scenarios.


Win Condition:
Control six or more main bases for three minutes.

Loss Condition:
Lose all your bases, resulting in the defeat of all your units.

Playtime:
10–30 minutes

Players:
3–4



Fate System​


Each faction has one of two randomized fates. These primarily affect heroes, starting resources, and defensive buildings.

Additional Information​


  • There are 11 main bases (3 in Kalimdor, 6 in Lordaeron, and 2 in Northrend).
  • There are 6 shipyards that must be built to travel to other continents.
  • The game features 58 different abilities.
  • There are 29 special buildings, such as the Sunwell, which can transform into the Dark Nexus and create the Lich hero for the Undead.
  • Each special building has its own unique effect and is, in some way, inspired by Warcraft III lore (or at least that was the goal).

Map Usage​


This map is unprotected and may be used for other projects under the following conditions:
  • Do not remove my name from the credits (Gorgonage).
  • When publishing your version, use a different subtitle instead of Classic.

Example:
Fate of Azeroth – Ultimate instead of Fate of Azeroth – Classic




Second Chance System​


Each faction gains a one-time Second Chance, allowing them to return as a new faction after defeat.
New Second Chance Factions

Draenei (Orc)
Starting Location: Dark Portal
If the Dark Portal is not yet activated, it will activate automatically
Heroes: 1 (Akama)
Theme: Snow

Blood Elves (Human)
Starting Location: Kalimdor, near Druid Hain
Heroes: 1 (Kael)
Color: Orange

Naga (Night Elf)
Starting Location: Small central island
Special: Can upgrade Shipyard to travel to:
Northrend
Lower Kalimdor
Upper Lordaeron
Heroes: 1 (Lady Vashj)
Color: Yellow

Demons (Undead)
Can choose to invade:
Lordaeron
Kalimdor
Spawns 3 Infernal Guards to random bases on the continent
Heroes: 4 (All Dreadlords)
Always summonable at every main base
Heroes still do not respawn
Color: Coal

Gameplay Additions
Heroes gain an Ultimate Ability upon reaching level 6.


Bug Fixes
Fixed an issue where Kel’Thuzad would not spawn if the Sunwell was destroyed (unsummoned state).
Fixed a bug where Kel’Thuzad would not respawn after the Sunwell was corrupted if he had already been killed.
Kel’Thuzad can now be properly resummoned after becoming a Lich.
Fixed an issue where Anub’arak could be resummoned multiple times after losing and retaking the base.
Boneyard: It is no longer possible to kill your own units to generate Zombies.
Marketplaces now provide life regeneration.
Removed tower upgrade ability from Paladins.
Updated the text for Pulverize.
Removed Kill ability from Frostwolves.

Balance Changes
Meat Golem added to Graveyards for 4 Gold.
Meat Golem destroys Graveyards when summoned.
Maximum Hero Level reduced to 6.
Human Towers: +100 HP
Human Main Base buildings: +200 HP
Human Blacksmith: +100 HP
Ancient cooldown increased from 100 → 120 seconds.
Frostwolf cooldown decreased from 25 → 16 seconds.
Humans now start with +5 Gold.
Zombie spawn time reduced from 3 → 2 seconds.
Fel Orcs: HP reduced by 80; negative life regeneration removed.
If the Human player dies without training Sylvanas or Arthas, the Undead player will still receive their hero.
Arthas can now heal himself with Holy Light.

Tower limit set to 5 for all races.
Paladin limit: 7
Frostwolf limit: 10
Tauren limit: 5
Troll limit: 5
Shade limit: 3
Crypt Fiend limit: 5
Abomination limit: 5
Ancient limit: 5
Archer limit: 5
Child of Elune limit: 1
Wisp limit: 3

Other Changes
Improved the description of Undead Fate 2 to better clarify the importance of using Graveyards.
Added a Naga starting point.
Introduced a limit system instead of Food for Elite Units (2 Food = 1 extra Gold).
Added more useful comments to the code.
Player color and race are now shown when you are winning.
Added Discord integration and special thanks to the Quest Log.

While it could be nice, replayability values is quite low, only in terms of who you choose to play as. Can teleport with a shipyard but can't get back without making one to where you teleported to. The same didn't happen with the portal. Drek'thar has...

Drek'thar has the same abilities as Thrall.

ADDITIONAL NECESSARY INFORMATION
  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
  • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.
