Desecration of the Forest is my entry for the Mini Mapping Contest #17 - Boss Fight. This map was made without any teamwork, contains no bugs (that I know of), cleans up major leak sources, and otherwise meets all requirements of the competition. The map is not protected, but the Lua code is transpiled from Typescript (and thus unintentionally obfuscated), so the Github repo is a better location to read the functional source.

The Story

You and a friend take on the roles of evil heroes part of the vanguard in the scourge's systematic destruction of the enchanted forest of Athen Lorel. The pestilence has finally reached the innermost glade; the source of the forest's magic. Our two cunning heroes decided to leave their allies behind and make haste to enter the glade, attempting to fight the Guardian of the Forest, and claim the magical power for themselves.

Will the forest defeat our heroes and survive another day? Or will the Guardian succumb to their onslaught?

  • Two Unique Heroes, Scarab King and the Fire Demon, with 6 skills each.
    • Mana skills with custom implementations!
  • In-game respawn on defeat
  • Forest Guardian boss with two distinct stages:
    • Ancient Guardian: Powerful melee boss that tosses around its strength and power
    • Spirit Guardian: The physical embodiment of the soul of the forest; evasive and utilizes devastating magics
  • Fully triggered boss abilities with unique states, forcing the players to move dynamically around the map.
  • Around a 15 minute playtime, if you can defeat the boss in one run.
  • Beautiful Ashenvale terrain, representing the innermost sanctum of an enchanted forest.
    • Destructibles play an important part in gameplay, as well as asthetics
    • Magical runes occasionally spawn around the map, providing the players with sustaining life and mana
  • Designed for Classic Graphics
  • Use the "-swap" command to switch heroes
  • Strategically use stuns to interrupt the boss.
  • Mana and health runs, which spawn throughout the map, are critical to sustain during the fight.
  • Be mindful of where you are on the map and the terrain around you.
  • Each hero has two extra lives (Ankhs). The game will restart once both players have died without an extra life.
