o.o,so many people use the spam light from above doodad to make a sun/moon
and it is funny how you made that explosion flame go sideway and the rocks,AWESOME
and you understood me ? that's a surprise
oh and you see the Biggest wall in the top left corner ? near it,you see the rock and the strings ? the string (top one) is not attached to anything,try to adjust it :D

The WIP for mine, it's supposed to be the Black Blades who have entered into pitch combat with the Balir.
So....tell me how bad I did :)
any advice would be welcome, I'm pretty new to all this terraining stuff (if the picture wasn't any indication >_> haha)

Okay here we go! Round two!
-Added Fog effects to the stream
-Moved units that were behind the "Black Knight" aka Lich King
-Added different tiles
-Added some cacti and bushes and grasses and such

It's going to all turn black in the game tho >_>

-Moved Nale and Sarryzr (The Hero Human Witch Hunter and the Black Balverine) farther up
-Moved soldiers and beasts to bottom of hill
-Showing ingame

But since I'm submitting a picture I should probably find a way to fix that >_>

This is just personal opinion but, I like to make my basics about as tall as the heroes, unless the heroes are supposed to be super tall,
or the units super short ect.
It makes it seem less Warcrafty and more realistic
but eh, I think it looks epic nontheless

alright here we go. Maybe the final version, unless someone tells me to fix it :D
-Removed the fog, it just wasn't working
-Added Light Rain
-Added Death Animations instead of everyone just attacking
-Added a couple of extra doodads

also cloud, I noticed this kinda randomly but, you see flaming rocks coming at the attackers, but none at the defenders, you even see a trebuchet
firing towards the castle.
Idk maybe you could have one or two flying in on the castle

hey i found a black stuff in your close up view of your footmans at the bottom right corner
now those arrows doesn't even look like arrows,they totally look like spears
i think you need to repair your moon,the teal color coming out ,but it still looks fine

darkzzz, maybe because, oh I don't know, they're thrown by spear throwers?
And yeah, CW, some extra siege weapons would be awesome, mainly a siege tower or laddermen could be awesome. :)
And as mentioned before, could use a few rocks being thrown at the defenders, maybe even breaching a small hole in the wall.

What would be really cool but will probably overcrowd the screenshot is a cadet of archers shooting coordinated waves of arrows at the defenders(from the attacker's side). ^^

Sounds like fun, this is a definite must, I'm in! Good luck to everyone, great work so far guys, look forward to seeing finished products!

As you can see, a lot of stuff is missing, things have already been moved around, hoping my final piece to be an ingame screenie, but we'll see.

For example, how come there's only one tree? And why are you using only two textures? And what about environment doodads and stuff?
Also there's simply nothing in the background which makes the terrain look a bit flat... I'd suggest making a distant hill or two.
In addition I'd like to see some unit types other than footmen and grunts, and perhaps even make the near figures heroes.
Finally I suggest you take your shot from ingame, since you'll be able to apply attack and walk animations to your units, making the battle much more realistic and recognizable.

Glad you like it idodik, yes I plan to add some 'dead' units and the screen shot will be taken in game, I've changed the trees, added some, added several clusters of rocks and placed projectiles in the air, arrows, demolisher
rocks, and many units will be displaying some kind of animation, as for the two at the water's edge, I plan on making them and their reflections clash weapons.



AyeKantSpel, OMG how you make that reflection! i was searching for some of that kind for years!
Otherwise, there is much work to do on your first WiP... Doodads, terrain... etc.

You can get the alpha tile there, it teaches you how to use it, the reflection is a doodad with the model as the skeleton, you shift click the max roll and put in -3.15 and it will put the unit upside down, scale the unit and doodad to about equal size, remove pathing on the doodad and place it at about the same spot as the unit, and you have your reflection.


Also, blood, very nice, I have a suggestion, if you're not already going to do it, find a few models of armor and weapons and place them there, would look like the gear that came with the remains.


Here's the next 3 wips, initial wip was about 30 minutes in, this is my progress through last night;

The armies aren't where they will finish, archers might be, but the grunts and the footmen will mingle some, also some shamen will join the party before it's done. Doodads are still missing on this one, it looks a lot different then the last screenie.
Gonna change the lighting, I don't like that white smear the grass leaves in the dark, lol.


Last question, where could I get my hands on a moon like that? I'd have many uses for it.

You should add some rocks near the shore, because now the ground isn't reflecting at all which is weird. You should also add animations :p

Thanks, I'm planing on changing it to where the body of water is wearing at a rock bed just under the grass, would make sense because of all the random rocks everywhere, would probably show a better reflection than what the grass does.

idodik, the reflections are undead, you just have to look really close.

Would like to thank everyone thus far for their input.

It's really coming along, there's a background now (hills and a few trees) lots of projectiles, rocks and grass, I'm going to add a lighting strike in there and the rest of the units, then start making the triggers and fine-tweaking the animations to fit together perfectly.
