Finally, my Furglewurg model is submitted to this contest. =D

Descriptions:
"Hurr hurr! I'm a giant mushroom humanoid titan with oversized muscles who can wipe out a whole army with only a few hits."

Model descriptions:
Mesh is made from scratch.
Texture is made from scratch, though the body used the campaign bloodelf texture for references.
Animations taken from Blizzard's ingame Owlbear rig with some edits, plus additional transferred animations.
Portrait model uses Peon animations.

Hints:
- Recommended scale: 2.00
- Recommended selection scale: 3.50
- If you're not using custom soundsets, recommended ingame soundset is Centaur (or Magnataur).
- Spell animation is recommended for a typical taunt ability.
- Spell Slam is useful for warcry or fear abilities.
- Attack Slam is useful for various slam abilities like Pulverize, Bash, Slam and War Stomp.
- Spell Throw is actually intended for matcho pose (cinematic use), but can be used for throwing or casting abilities as well if you want.

The unusual paths and name change on the command icons are a clever way to make BTN, ATC and PAS icons share the same DISBTN, thus sparing filesize.
I've tried that method myself, and it works.

I realized that I didn't have much time to do that. Helping parents to fix wood, cleaning and other real life stuffz.
But you're still helpful, because you made me become aware about the biped's glitches and the solution, so that will help me in future works. So again, thank you very much and and I apologize if I wasted your time helping me.

I like it (and spell slam looks cool haha) - A few comments though.
I don't really get why his is flipping his upper lip in spell animation.. and nothing else (besides the tilting of head and such). It looks odd.. is he supposed to be spewing the spell from his mouth?

The club he swings on attack 2 hits himself, but thats a minor thing. I like how he appears to eat his club when he dies (properly not intentional, but looks funny.)

A other minor thing, after he have used slam, his head is tilted to the side.. not that its a problem, as it can only be seen for a short period of time.. just thought to note it.

It's a taunting animation that's useful for a taunting ability, or for use in cinematics where he insults the person like "Hurr hurr! You think you can beat up a giant like me, you tiny little shrimp?".

Ah haha :grin: then I get. I had gotten the idea that the spell animation was what you wanted one to use for spells.

Dan van Ohllus, I don't think this is seen ingame.
Because it is less than half a second you model opens his mouth this wide.
But I still suggest you take a look at attack - 2 animation and see if you can polish it.

well im doing my best, 3/4 of the time i post im not on the computer that has all my stuff, (my dad is another reason for why i can't get on it..) besides when i even spent 2 hours on it i always had to move a lot of verteces around to make it look right before moving on, but i think i'll just move on and leave that dead like all other things before it *sigh

This model is only displayed correctly in-game. Ribbons and sounds do not display, and animations don't display correctly in Magos' Model Editor.Mesh and wrap are scratch-made. Has a set of 15 scratch animations. Among these, 5 attack animations.

It has ended now I presume :xxd:

Shame that I due to Christmas never got to finish my idea for an entry.. but I had to play around with my newest bamboo instead.

Anyway this question relates to it; is it actually on Hive accepted to upload models of the size equal to those of this contest, without it being a part of the contest? I assume it is, but I thought to ask while at it anyway.

welp, unknown to me the family was headin up to Oregon for the holidays, no internet for the past 4 or 5 days, :/ finished the model in time but couldnt upload it without a connection, Im at a public library right now, usin their internet to post. Looks like i missed the deadline, i suppose its for the better though, my model was too rushed in the end. I doubt i would have been happy if i had submitted it, modeling contests are about quality not quantity after all. looks like HC's anubis came out very nice. ( ಠ_ಠ) still doesnt have any teeth. BUT its still a great lookin model. Ill remake the colossus i had in mind for this contest a bit later, make it look really solid and polished. textures are a bitch to make.... anyway, hope everyone had a good holiday (i can't say i did) and good luck to the entries we have.

EDIT: for those of you who wanted to know what it looked like... consider this one "VERSION 1.0".... p.s. texturing is a bitch i have a new respect for skinners

Looks good! It's like a better version of Optimus Prime. :D I had no idea you could texture.

And btw, soccer mom socialism ftw. ;)

2nd. Megapod thing.
3rd. Mai model.
4th. Anubis guy. Almost made 3rd, but the arms contrast with the body to much. As if they were UVWrapped separately. (Which they were.) ;)
5th. Shroom Shrek. (Needs custom anims.)

I almost agree - Mine would be like this:

1: PyramidHe@d
2: HappyCockroach
3: Mr. Bob
4: tee.dubs (Its getting four, because that thing is just plain nasty.. its nicely made, but considering usefulness and hive users)
5: Dan van Ohllus (Only reason for this is the lack of custom animations and the flaws in that connection, also of course due to the many other good entries)
6: Time-to-die (The idea is good and I sense some humor about it, but it doesn't appear alive enough due to the mesh/skin and the none connected elements on it. It uses a little too many custom skins for my liking. Animations also miss a certain edge and his head is plain ugly (and should be seen more). I also really missed some particles, which I believe could have improved it a lot - like water dripping from him and thereby making his movements seem smother).

i thought DvO's entry was fantastic. i dont see how a non-custom anim is any problem

Well my main point for complaining about it at all is because some off the animations just doesn't look right. The lip thing is not my style and he collides into himself in certain animations... But indeed its a great entry - and only the other great entries prevents me from placing it higher which I wished I could.... Let me put it like this; DvO's entry would always be high on my list - presumably the same spot even if this contest had more entries and Time-to-die's entry would have stayed rather low (of course depending on what entries would have arrived in this theoretical speculation.)

i think DvO pyra and HC have the best shot at placing, i dont know which order, but pyra had a great, original idea, it had a good custom mesh, animations and texture, all-round awesome
I liked HC's idea, egyptian, 4 arms are hard to animate but i love how each arm attacks in a separate animation so it's a flurry of sword swings, makes for very epic attacks ingame, very well done custom animations and ingame textures were used superbly, great UV map ( ಠ_ಠ) no teeth though
DvO's entry was lulzy, the UV wrap on the arms wasn't the best and the flappy lip animation

was a little odd, but ingame animations were used nicely, not perfect, but at least it has animations.
