Dark Magus Journey is single player RPG focused on tale of mage Garral. In the realms he will visit, he will encounter numerous enemies, few allies, shopkeepers and secrets of all kind. Entire campaign has 1 cinematic and 4 playable missions.

No idea why you posted separate maps instead of putting them all in a .w3n (campaign) file. Because there's no game cache involved. It makes all the effort to get items in a chapter kind of useless in the long run. I presume the tomes are also pretty...

I like it. It's a simple, classic map without any redundand models and i really like your terraining, which is something I lack in my creations. Also i'm glad to see another czech map maker :) I hope, you'll try mine someday aswell :)

So, I don't know, how to survive the fight with paladin, I explored all acessible parts of the map, completed the quest for brewmaster, yet i cannot save the paladin during the assault, there's just too many creeps attacking and there's also shop with items, but i did not find any gold, nor get them from kills, maybe give those creeps small gold drop would be nice, or maybe give the paladin atleast bubble so he can survive just a bit longer. Also the dreadpaw units doesn't give you experience, not sure if its intended or not.

Hi, didn't expected that part to be difficult, as long as you complete both optional quests and find vampiric potion/visit power stones before reaching garrison it should be easier. Key thing is also spamming flame strike on top of paladin as he doesnt get any dmg from magic. Spamming Banish is also viable.

As for the gold, you get drop of 250 gold from Rogue Knight quest, and yeah dreadpaw units are intended to not to give you xp during defence as it would disrupt lvl scaling later on. Spoiler - there is total of 1000 gold around the map ( drop or quest ). GL!

I have both the vampiric potion and also found all 3 power stones, also i'm level 3 however I think this garrison part is still impossible to survive because even if u spam flame strike, once you run out of mana the dreadpaws will overwhelm you and kills the paladin in most of the cases. I guess for the campaign that just started this part is just too hard and it should be doable without optional quests or secrets = thats why it's called optional. I returned back and did the rogue knight quest aswell, but still can't get through the garrison. I had to use cheats to explore the rest of the map, which seems okay after that.

I have only one more note to the Ogre boss: Some tuning here would be great aswell - I think his bloodlust should cost mana, as I was running around him for the good 5 minutes, before managed to drain all of his 800 mana points out, but once i ran out, he just catch me with another bloodlust and killed me in stun. Otherwise if I tried to kill him before draining his mana, he just heals to full everytime, and yes I was level 6 during boss fight.

You can still mana drain from lesser units like Raging bear or Dreadpaw Worshipper, as for the ogre if you banish him every time he casts bloodlust he will be not able to touch you (cd banish and bloodlust nearly same), even if you ran out of mana ur base regen will still make it up to 50 so u can cast banish and simply click him down slowly, best option is to just poke him with occasional frost bolt and drain mana asap as fight starts, yet ofc you might need to reload from saved game if you wasted all of your starting mana through his heals (in case you want to kill him fast) .

Yes, thats what i did, but the problem is they will overwhelm you from all sides before you manage to kill all of them.

I did this exactly, saving banish for lust and drain him in between, I agree this is doable, but it's painful.
Anyway, consider looking at the garrison atleast, because I can't see a win condition here. Otherwise, the map looks good :)

That was a really fun map, can't wait for the rest. :D

IMO the paladin being spell immune hurts more than it helps. You can't banish him to save him from running off and getting himself killed. Had to reload that part 3 times and only got through it - barely - by just bodyblocking him most of the time. He never casted divine shield either - if he even had it.

Nice map.

I want to add that i feel inmolation is useless, flame strike is enough, maybe you want to add some kind of cc or support spell for Garral? maybe a restoration tome(reset spells)

He is a Dark magus but the only dark thing here is his attitude :xxd:

hi, yeah I'll be tryna make the paladin abit easier in next patch. As for the ogre you need to get rid of his mana first before anything, its all about kiting. Agreed the immolation is not great the first level, but i am hoping to make use of it in next maps as flamestrike damages Garral as well. Overral the spell kit is not 100% certain, might do little changes.

And yeah he is supposed to be abit of a rude mage lol

Hi everyone , after long time i actualy managed to finish this little project.

Hopefuly you guys enjoy it, i played it countless times to minimize amount of bugs + balancing issues. But if you find anything buggy or weird be sure to point it out as i am still not skilled with triggers enough.

It makes all the effort to get items in a chapter kind of useless in the long run. I presume the tomes are also pretty much wasteful to search for because of this. Less incentive to actually go and use Kelen's Dagger around the map.

  1. The description/text on the first map's loading screen does not all fit. It's cut suddenly after "But".
  2. Spells don't have visible hotkeys. I guessed they are QWERT based.
  3. The hero should be selected after the scene where he meets Bogdun. After draining his mana, it's just rinse and repeat, no new moves from him, not even after his life goes below 50 or 25%.
  4. Cinematic scenes cannot be skipped (at least the one when you meet the lich can't).
  5. The Enchated Vials don't mention that they are not combat usable.
  6. Are the Destroyer and Gargoyle supposed to appear in the north corner platform when the lich casts Death and Decay over the arena? They are too strong against the hero, much more than the lich. They leave you without mana and if you don't kill the Gargoyle first, you don't get health back. Then when you fight the minions, they don't leave any healing runes. Then, you can't stop the magic shell since the ghost mage armour is Divine. Alright, Siphon Mana kills them. I think, the battle needs a little bit of tweaking. You can easily die if you don't have that much HP when the lich starts the Death and Decay spell again.
  7. Are you supposed to have the orc interface in the Land of Azura map?
  8. Units are sometimes selected during cinematic mode, either the hero or some others the player selected before cinematic mode.
  9. There's simply not enough healing when fighting Lucilla. And when she multiplies and some more minions come, there's no healing at all and you get silenced.
  10. During the fight with Selene, you reach a point where you have to kill 4 Faerie Dragons before you can cast spells without risking to die while Selene and a Wyvern attacks you. There's no healing in this time. The dragons have 1200 HP each.
A lovely mix of classic gameplay and triggered fights that falls short of the proper balance of boss brawls.

Hey there, I just finished the game, except for the selene boss fight, so I have few questions. I searched for the whole map, but I did not manage to find how to get to the last shrine. I noticed there's 2 more caves on the map, but couldn't find the path, even the trees cant be destroyed.
- there's no way to get there, trees cant be killed
- same, no caves leading there.

Scroll of Awkward Resurrection - item looks bugged as it doesn't do anything and cannot be used.

Boss fight - How to survive the infernals phase? You'll get both slowed and stunned, so there's no way to avoid it, the stun persist too long to do something other than lightning shield, but the infernals have enough HP to survive, then the boss came to attack you too, there's no health runes, or drops from infernals so you're just dead.
Next phase with Roar ability - increases boss damage by 900 or something, you cannot kite it, because you're slowed, again how to survive this ??

I bought Scepter of Ristun for more armor, because somehow I didnt find more than 1000 gold in the whole map to buy the lifesteal mask, but not sure if it makes any difference.

All maps looks great, the terraining is just beautiful, but every chapter has a problem with boss fights. I'm clearing whole map everytime, do all side quests, yet the fights are just bad to handle :(

yup, it will surely get some changes and tweaks in the future. But as for problems in this one:

1. you can walk through those, if you used camera edge to sides you can see the path under trees is walkable, its pretty much same thing as in TFT undead campaign when arthas wants to get to little timmy shop.

2. Scroll of Awkward Resurrection, it is not bugged. It has ability to bring dead back from the grave, as the item description said.
( Spoiler - try find some grave around the map )

3. you'll have to dispel the slow with Windwaker first, then do 1-4 hits on infernal and run again, ( they also not invulnerable to magic ).

as for the Roar/slow - it is possible to kite if you get Selene close to corner before the phase, then Windwaker to dispel slow again - then cast banish on her as you land down + Cripple then move to opposite corner while immeaditely nuking her with spells along the way as she is banished (more dmg to ethereal units), if your last spell is Garral's Wrath as banish ticks off she'll get ministuned in middle of her last 900 hit animation, therefore not hitting you at all, or just once.

4. the mask gives you 50% lifesteal and spares you the time of siphoning due to +1000 mp , so the boss fight is easier but its not necessary.

And here the problem starts: I no longer have Windwaker item in my inventory, so how to kill her without it then? I guess you cannot. If it's a mandatory for finishing the game, you shouldn't be able to drop it in the first place.

Not sure theres any reason to drop the item for any consumable item in last chapter, also i doubt theres any item you would prefer over Windwaker as it gets you through previous map and the boss fight. So yes you need it, there is reason in chapter 02 title at shop tells player that only orange items are transferable. Will make it undropabble like the spellbook in next patch.

Well, you can't count on that everyone will use it. I had no use for it for the whole map so I changed it with consumables for the boss fight. So either make it undroppable or change the boss fight to not be dependant on it.

And maybe add a hint into item tooltip saying that you can remove debuffs, when u use it on yourself.

description says it tosses Hero or target unit in air, gives +6 stats and dispels, idk maybe extended description to make it more clear i guess.

although i think there are several parts on map where you need the dispel as you fight Twin Trolls/Satyr Diabolist/Shadow Fiend, they all have plenty of long debuffs you'll need to dispel , otherwise its hard to get bring them down.

Probably, but it was quite easy compared to boss fight as I did not died once or used Windwaker.
