Map Description:
Even in their final assault on the Burning Legion, the armies of Azeroth can't put their differences aside.

Neutral Building:
16 Goldmines (All - 12500)
2 Tavern
4 Merc - Black Citadel
6 Goblin Lab
4 Goblin Merchant
2 Way Gate
1 Fountain of Power

Creep Camp:
8 Green (4 respawn)
24 Orange (2 respawn)
3 Red (+8 base)

Information:
-168x153 playable area size
-a crazy game and crazy drop from big guy at the top!

Tips:
Some creep camps respawn after some time as indicated by portals. The creeps after respawning drop a rune of healing. However, the portals can be destroyed to prevent the creeps from respawning.

The northern and southern red camps are very difficult but they offer valuable loot. The southern infernal juggernaut drops artifacts that give the heroes another ability. The other camp is Kil'Jaeden himself. It might take several players' armies to defeat him but it is possible to do in just one player if he's skilled enough. The rewards can really turn the tide of battle but the time it takes to defeat Kil'Jaeden might be more valuable than the loot so keep that in mind.

Knecht's notes:
This map was created as a rework of my old 4v4 map that wasn't that great. As someone with not as much time at hands, I asked Zucth for a collaboration where he would be the one mainly responsible for the layout whereas I would focus mainly on the visuals. As such, I would like to thank my collaborator for the patience since the terraining took longer than I expected.

v1.1 [all the change are base on FFA game]
-Diamond of Summoning change: permanent -> 4 charge.
-Trigger for portal garg/statue bug.
-Gold amount of orange mines between players increased from 12500 -> 15000

For now it's too simple to be a proper altered melee and too much to be melee. If @Remixer and/or @mafe have any other opinions, please argument and change the approval status if you deem so.

While a nice concept, it's really simple at the moment for an altered melee map. However, this is kind of what soft altered melee would be.
Kil'jaeden's model doesn't have a walk animation and the death is very long and static.
He also drops stuff like the Night Elf Flag which doesn't do anything and the Soul Gem which can be used to capture a hero and eliminate the unit from the game until the end.
Respawning creep camps doesn't make that much sense since their loot is only a quick HP recharge, not loot but maybe it's for later heroes XP and bounty?
Heart of Aszune could be a droppable item that other players can access by killing the carrier.

Anyways, maybe you can think of more stuff to add to make it more altered.

ADDITIONAL NECESSARY INFORMATION
  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
  • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.

Well yeah, that was the point 😄 I didn't want to have it as a full on altered melee map so it was set to both Melee and Altered Melee while not really being any of those two.

As for the other stuff:
I'm well aware of KJ not having a walk animation nor death animation but the glowing aura felt epic to me and I wanted the camp to have somewhat of a raid boss feel to it. However, since it's more meant for melee players, I didn't wan't to use custom models as I felt it wouldn't sit well with players (maybe I'm wrong?).
The drops are a bit crazy but defeating the game should give you an upper hand, a big one at that. So the Soul Gem can practically win you a fight. The flags are there just for swag so that you can show off that you killed KJ (or you can sell it for more gold).

Respawning creeps are a thing that's been asked for by the FFA people whenever there's some FFA mapping. For them, the xp and gold is much more valuable I persume. But I guess they could have stronger drops and not be just a healthpack in late game.

Anyways, I'm not sure I want to make it more altered. The "altered" stuff is basically just visual if we don't count respawning creeps. KJ is a reskin of Archimonde and all the custom changes are just visual. Perhaps I should have left the category only as Melee then? After all, Portal Roulette is currently on W3Champions in the 4v4 map pool and it has custom triggers for waygates, so based on this, subtle custom stuff could be in melee?

One last note, these maps (LD and Portal Roulette) were also meant to open the soft altered discussion once more since they have only a little custom stuff that doesn't change the melee aspect too much, I also felt that melee maps were a bit stale lately so this was my way to spice stuff up.

Changes are too altered melee (any change to the object data, that kind of includes "skins" and non-melee triggers) to consider it melee as we don't yet have proper tags for this, like we wanted in the past tweaked melee or whatever. Another idea would be to have the tag ladder for those hardcore melee maps.
