PROJECT'S SUBFORUM

FAQ <-- CLICK HERE FOR INSTALL INFO
  • IS THERE ANY COPYRIGHTED CUSTOM MUSIC IN THE CAMPAIGN?
All music comes from Blizzard's games, specifically World of Warcraft and all of its expansions. You can record any footage of this campaign and put it online without risk of copyright infringements.
  • ARE HEROES LIKE IN THE VANILLA CAMPAIGN?
Heroes abilities are the same of the vanilla campaign and the main and only hero of the campaign is Arthas, just like in the original one. The experience system, however, is tweaked to be more rewarding. In other words, your hero needs to be personally involved to gain experience and a lot of killing is usually required to gain levels. Tomes of experience and creep camps to clear come in really handy, so make sure to search for them!
  • HOW MANY MISSIONS IS ACT I?
Act I consists in the first two missions in the game and the playable interlude. Basically, the entire Lordaeron arc of the campaign.
  • WHAT ARE PLAYABLE INTERLUDES/EPILOGUES?
They are expanded cinematic sequences with a section of gameplay, usually reduced in scope with respect to regular missions and with a more RPG style camera and mechanics. In this campaign, the interlude The Dreadlords Convene is now playable. It can also be skipped to experience the cinematics only, if you so wish.
  • ARE THERE ANY KNOWN ISSUES?
Not many, but I will list the few you might encounter:
    1. Opening the codex dialog while a cinematic is starting might have some weird effects on some cinematics. This is because the system I use to pause the game when the codex is opened just emulates Blizzard natives, which I can't use since that logic is hidden underneath the game engine. I will check if there is a way to prevent this, but it's very weird and low priority, so I can't promise on when it will be done. Don't report this bug to me because it's not really a bug, but just a very rare unintented behaviour that can be avoided very easily.
    2. Difficulty might not be retained between missions. Use the cheat code "howhard" to display the difficulty level of current mission. If it's not what you expect, just quit mission, select the new difficulty and then load it up again. Blizzard should have fixed this by now, but in case it happens again, you know how to deal with it.
    3. Sometimes facial animations of characters might stop working (partially or entirely). Usually restarting the game and reloading the map should fix the issue. It's also been noticed that facial animations tends to break more when alt-tabbing. This is due to Blizzard code, I can't fix it. If anyone knows a workaround, just let me know.
    4. In some locales, loading screen crest might be smaller or not fully centered. This is due to a bug in how the game client handles the loading screen crest, whose partially depends on the amount of text in the loading screen.
    5. If you reload a saved game, the crest might appear of the wrong race. Again, this is a Reforged issue, tell Blizzard about it.
    6. Some crashes might happen due to unpredictable circumstances. Just deal with them. It's not Re-Reforged, it's the game client.
    7. If the game crashes often, make sure to check your graphics settings, for Re-Reforged might be a bit heavier than vanilla Warcraft 3 Reforged:
      1. Reduce graphics quality in settings (make sure to not open options from in-game because, in rare cases, it could freeze the game);
      2. Set game to fullscreen mode;
      3. Close all other applications you can close, to reduce RAM and GPU usages.

My name is Luca Pasqualini and I'm an italian software engineer and teacher. I was a researcher with a PhD in AI. I love developing games in my spare time.

I have partecipated to the Rock The Cabinet 2017: Co-op edition contest for Starcraft 2 and my map, Mercenary Business made it to the top 10.

I was hyped beyond any imagination for Warcraft 3: Reforged, and while the disappointment was there, I saw great potential in the art assets and in the few but key changes Blizzard made to the engine. Mostly for fun, I tried re-reforging the first map of the prologue with better cinematics and now... well, now here we are. I guess it's already been a long journey, and I am really excited of what's still ahead!

The following list is a definitely not comprehensive list of assets used in some form that you can find on Hive Workshop.
In general, many models are built specifically for Re-Reforged and you can extract them and use them so long you give credits. Many of the following models have also been edited/improved to better work within the Re-Reforged ecosystem. Let me know if you see some assets (models, textures, icons...) in the campaign that are available on this website in some form and that are not credited here, I'll immediately add them in the list and give proper credits to their authors.

All the model designed for Re-Reforged are made by Mr. Ogre Man (main modeler) and Furgrim (fixer and animator).
All the icons and the loading screens designed for Re-Reforged are made by Handclaw.

Rly rly good as before ! :D
-Sometimes in the first mission I don't know from where but guards increased "alone" 1-2 times on the map ( or I don't understand something^^)
-Love the second mission, your vision is way more fun to play and well executed
-Amazing ambiance in the interlude <3

Well... I completed it and what can I say...
Here's my review without any spoilers, so don't worry:

  • Chapter 1 felt so unusual and sick. In a good way, of course. However, I think that most of this mission Arthas can solo, cause the army to cause more problems than help.
  • Chapter 2 - I liked visiting the same places as we visited in Scourge of Lordaeron. The final fight wasn't hard even on Hard, dunno why. But I thought that the enemy has decreased train time, is it true?
  • Interlude - It's hard to tell about it without spoiling, but I liked that extra part like in Scourge of Lordaeron. And I constantly thought that we would meet Diablo again :D

Overall - awaiting for new Act, I saw you are working on it right now on streams and it looks snazzy.
Gladly recommend playing for anyone, cheers!

Hi. Thank you for such a great job, you can really see the difference between the versions and your work.
I have a question .
Previously, each map had one file separately, e.g. 5 files.
Now it's all in one and the game doesn't see any map.
How to load these files?

Incredible campaign so far. I was left hungering for the next chapter but was disheartened to find out Act 1 is only the first 2 missions.

That being said, it's clear that this is a labor of pure love, and the amount of effort put into it is nothing short of outstanding.

That being said, I have included my comments about the two missions below:

Chapter 1.
- Ring of Regeneration is MVP. Without this ring, Arthas would be in a LOT more trouble, especially on hard.

- I like that Arthas has Chaos damage now, tying closely to his Frostmourne variant in HU09.

- I feel like there should be more of a reward for killing the patrols (or at least the two captains). Runes are nice, but it would be cool if they granted a more permanent item (even if it was something as small as a +1 stat item).

- Hiding a Potion of Omniscience was a very interesting decision, considering you could carry it into Mission 2.

Chapter 2.
- I was hoping the secret panda relaxation area would give more of a reward, kind of like how the Pandaren Brewmaster in NEX04 gives Maiev a Slippers of Agility +3.

- The starting base is situated in a fantastic defensive position, making base defense much more forgiving than the original.

- The Tomb of Relics is a very welcome addition.

- The villagers that escape from the collapsing houses should, in my opinion, be part of a hostile team, rather than Neutral. In the RR Culling, the villagers were neutral as you had to make the decision to cull them or not, whereas now Arthas is full on Scourge and should be killing on sight.

- The Uther fight is as intense as it should be, and the cutscene where he hesitates in finishing Arthas is amazing.

- My only suggestion would be to require the player to move towards the barricaded area to initiate the Uther fight so they can explore/clean up the rest of the map after alleviating themselves of the Paladins' onslaught.

I can't overstate how excited I am for Act 2 and the rest of the campaign to release, these 2 missions were absolute masterpieces.

Keep up the amazing work, InsaneMonster.

I completed everything, I liked everything :) I also destroyed the plague cauldrons, but there were no consequences =D
The design of the maps, as always, is excellent, I liked the cinematics in the interlude, and the location itself is very atmospheric.
In the first mission, saves often do not work, but this has already been written about, and in my opinion, the difficulty can be increased a little in each of the missions. In any case, I’m looking forward to the continuation, I hope they will come out faster now.

After having played it (on Normal), I gotta say that this was a good comeback with the re-reforged project.

- Not much to say for map 1 except that it was terrained beautifully and that the whole alert and being detected was executed in a nice way. Despite those mechanics not really fitting warcraft 3 as a whole in my opinion; but you managed it nicely.

- Map 2 was pure awesomeness! Exactly what warcraft 3 is supposed to be (in my mind of course). Nice amount of creeping, and not for the sake of creeping, but because it makes the world of warcraft (3) feel alive! Just some gnolls living tha life until you brutally murder them etc...
Killing Sage Truthbearer and Ballador the Bright was fun but they were lower level than the Gavinrad the Dire? Wut
The only issue for me was that I ended up killing both altars and the paladins and the map transitioned to the last stage vs Uther, not allowing me to fully explore the final parts that I had to explore.
The zombies were fun and decently useful.

- The interlude was fun as well and that Anetheron model is sickkk!

All in all, really a great comeback!

PS: just 1 thing I guess; Arthas having chaos damage is understandable but him starting with hella op items right off the bat seemed a bit weird. Not that I'm complaining but maybe have those items be in barrels or idk

Amazing job! I didn't know that there was a re-reforged campaigns until now
Loved every bit of detail from the camera angles, the map designs, the side quests to the little mouse under the able in the interactive interlude which itself is outstanding!
Gonna try your previous campaigns and can't wait to see the full release of this one
Great job, InsaneMonster!

I'm really sad. I really want to finish the second mission, and while I know it's not the fault of the map/project, unfortunately I simply cannot fight the north of the two Paladins' bases without the game crashing. I've tried a good five times now, and it crashes every time.

Damn you, Reforged. :(
