      Hey, i need your help Retera!
      I used the MatrixEater tool to combine 2 custom units into one (ripped off hte "weapon" from B and gave it to A, i imported the textures of both original models and the edited model i "fused". but the model wont show up, im pretty sure its about the textures but i just cant find a way to solve that :/

      btw.: in war3 model editor (malygos) it shows the model correctly when both texture files are in the same folder

        Okay. Are you willing to send me the model in a private message or do you want me to walk you through trying to find a solution? Sometimes with the older version of the Matrix Eater, if I convert to MDL with MdlxConv and back to MDX with MdlxConv it will fix a bug introduced into the MDX by a Matrix Eater formatting issue. I have fixed the source of these bugs on my latest version but many people still have the version that adds the bug to models. It is one possible problem that could cause this. It might not be the problem you have.

        Yeah. Use this tool on the model file:

        It will show paths like "Units\Voidspawn\HeroMawOfOblivion\NameOfTexture.blp" and you can click it, change it to "NameOfTexture.blp" and push save. Then when you import it, it should work if you change "war3mapImported\NameOfTexture.blp" to "NameOfTexture.blp" in the Import Manager.

      Hey Retera, what software do you use to develop your apps? I was thinking of re-writing old stuffs with Java to allow Mac support.

        There's a video posted by my YouTube account called Matrix Eater developer setup that might still work. Basically it uses Java's standard libraries for everything except when necessary. MPQs are parsed by DrSuperGood's MPQ parser, BLP parsed by DrSuperGood's BLP-iio parser plugin, MDX parsed using the parser by Oger-Lord, and 3d is drawn with OpenGL bindings through LWJGL (the game library used to make Minecraft iirc)

        So, these libraries are all already included if you follow the Matrix Eater Developer Tutorial video, but you could go get the latest versions to make your own project.

        For parsing SLK and unit data stuff I use code that I wrote, combined with some code from Deoad's ODE, combined with a port (from C++ to Java, by me) of PitzerMike's object data code used in ObjectMerger and Witgetizer. But that stuff, although included in the project, is more relevant to the custom Object Editor that I was writing.

        In general, yes. I was told by Hayate that he was able to run the Matrix Eater on Mac, but he also said that sometimes he had to resize the window to cause it to refresh the 3d display, and that if he did not the 3D display would be on top of other parts of the program visually. So, it sounded like it was slightly buggy, but all of the libraries were functioning.

        Yeah all my content is pretty much all derivative works of Blizzard Entertainment; I believe deriving works from them had a tremendous beneficial impact on my life. I would never want to stop someone from making derivative works of Wc3 models I make. I believe everyone should be able to enjoy the game as I did, and modifying the Maw of Oblivion falls in that category.

        The Maw of Oblivion was made many years ago almost entirely in Notepad++ and Oinkerwinkle's tools before I created my own model editing software. But hopefully someday it will be a sample of what is possible with a few minutes with good software.

        I'm doubtful that it does. Heavens Fall *did* used to update by using Dropbox. Essentially, it would download a text file from a static URL like "dropbox.com/Retera/hfmod/fileList.txt" and in this file was a list of other Dropbox URLs to download. They were all subfolders in this hfmod folder that was in the Dropbox Public folder. But, Dropbox changed how sharing works, so that sharing creates a very long URL with encrypted hash data, instead of using publicly visible folder names. So, to download a file directly they try to force you to see their website, and they also don't have the URL match the name of the folder it was shared from.
        Since their stuff got more complicated, the old Heavens Fall updater is just not ever going to work again. I would have to provide people with a new installer/launcher. However, there's a second problem. I am not the Nirvana mod's author, and I cannot modify 1.29 in the same way that they modified 1.26.

        For a while, there was a version of Heavens Fall that worked on 1.27 because it was so similar to 1.26 that you could basically have 1.26 stuff running the mod alongside 1.27. It was the same manner in which JNGP worked until Patch 1.28 even though JNGP was a modified copy of Patch 1.21. For the same reason JNGP is dead, having six races on the menu is dead. I'm probably not going to invest the time to program the binary code needed that they wrote in China for Nirvana that Heavens Fall was borrowing. So, Dropbox changing their system to kill my launcher was very timely, because 1.28 also killed the mod itself.

        I have a theory that I could split Heavens Fall into two mods, each with 3 races, and release them for Patch 1.29, and allow them to join each other's game. So, these two compatible mods could play LAN or Battle.net together in the same game, but you would be restricted to 3 of the 6 races based on which MPQ you were using. That is one possible way I could deploy on 1.29, but it's only a theory. And, Computer players would have to inherit their race from the host mod, but would show incorrectly on the joining mod, and so it would be confusing and bad for computer players.

      I wanted to ask what program do you use to record your videos?

        Going okay. Typically I have been using Fraps to record videos, but it only works on Windows 7, and not on newer windows versions, so when I upgrade I will probably have to start using something else. I heard OBS is good but haven't really tried using it yet.

        There might be some way to get it to work sometimes on Windows 8/10. But, in my experience, it was not able to record the graphics of the desktop window manager in the same way, so you could not just record the desktop environment with Fraps like I do on Windows 7 with a lot of my videos.
        It's also possible that Fraps might have made some update that I don't know about. But, last time I tried it on my Windows 10 computer, it wouldn't record the desktop.

      Hey Retera! I wanted to ask you about your Mursoph Emperor model. I really believe that it would make a great standalone model without the murloc as there isn't really many custom Sea Giant models available. So essentially, I suppose I am making a request for this if possible with maybe some swimming animations too? XD Honestly, I'm hoping to be able to use your model for my next race I'm working on. However, it's entirely up to you as I'm sure you're a very busy person! Also thank you again for the Pit Lord edit you did for me a few months back I ended up using it in my Legion's Advance map.

        Sure! Direfury's been working on new Lost Tribe unit models. Maybe you could make some awesome new stuff for the Zear? I had some WIPs for a new Encampment building and an updated Sky Cannon that never got incorporated into the mod, but a lot of the other models in the Zear are very old. I would say make whatever sounds fun to make, and we can probably stick it into the map/mod :)

        This is only a small part of the hundreds of Heavens Fall models I created the past decade. I just had to go to bed last night to stop. I'll probably keep uploading again tonight. Akin to the Spitting Snap Dragon, many were recolors, though -- and recolored ability spells and effects. So although there are hundreds inside the project many of them may not be fit for uploading. I was doing some cherry picking last night, I'll probably do that again tonight.
