Ive seen people do Creep races like Bandits. Quillboars. Furbolgs. and even now stuff like Revenants (or just elementals) and Critters.

So since nobody did that before. Heres a race based on Sasquatches. (Also includes Wendigo's and Jungle Stalkers.)
i actually made alot of Icons for this map using Button Manager. i hope anyone who plays this map will enjoy it. if you find any bugs or mistakes. tell me them.

Version 1.1
  • The Hut is no longer able to Summon chimps
  • Some shop items nerfed. Made the Pocket Chimp item cheap from 350 to 125 gold. and the Great Claw now deals +5 Damage and adds cleaving attack. (still gives you +3 armor)
  • Changed a bunch of Hotkeys.
  • Added Hero Glows. and a hero limit (Kind of)
  • gave the Yeti and Sasquatch Chieftain new icons. (also gave the custom heroes Score Screen icons)
  • Nerfed the Chimpling Cage. From 1500 Mana to 350 Mana.
if i missed anything pls let me know (gotta comparison this between versions 1.0 and 1.1)

  • Most buildings being able to summon Chimps is kind of too op in my opinion
  • I can train infinite heroes
  • Items from Shop seem way too strong. Except for the Chimp item, it's so weak. Literally 350 gold for a very weak unit that lasts 30 seconds.
  • Hero abilities are quite interesting, good job on that regard.
  • The Chimping Cage in my opinion is way too broken. At least players shouldn't be able to have more than one at the same time. And it's so cheap too. At least reduce its max mana by a lot or increase mana cost of abilities by like A LOT.
  • Huts being able to train Gatherers is pretty interesting in my opinion, but it doesn't feel right idk
  • Banana shouldn't last infinitely of the Orangutan
  • "S" button for abilities doesn't work since it's already used for the "Stop" command

Genuinely a cool idea and done for the first time ever in 24 years, at least I think so.
Overall the race felt pretty strong, but I like the drawback of not having air units for example and basically no ranged units either (just enough).

Okay...

in my playthrough tho. The Chimpling Cage was not really that OP for me. maybe its because i suck at the game or smth idk. Welp i guess in the Next update for this map ill try my best to fix those bugs. So yeah any member pls mark this as a Awaiting Update for now.

Awaiting Update on author's request based on @raypack's review.

The map approval badge/status depends on various criteria overlapping but not superior to the map submission rules.
Please write a changelog in the map thread description and remove the old/previous map file (if not necessary).

Curious, is the AI tested? I didn't manage to get any of the AI of the 4 main factions (Human/Orc/Undead/NE) to run in Reforged

  1. All of the abilities are rehashed Warcraft III abilities. Not saying it is bad, but perhaps make some interesting tweaks to them would be nice :)
  2. Rock Thrower being land only makes effective early anti-air inaccessible for this faction. Is this intended? Crypt Fiend has Web to compensate, but not this faction
  3. I still manage to summon all 4 heroes in the new 1.1 version
  4. Ideally, Hut should not have access to training workers. It makes snowballing really effective early to mid game
  5. Clobber ideally has 3 food with that stat, probably same applies to Rock Thrower
  6. How does Banana Peels actually work?
I think these are what comes up in my mind during my testing. Hard to analyze further with main faction AI not available

Maybe this map isnt made for reforged?

1. Hero Abilities?. i mean im not that great at making Hero Abilities.
2. yeah maybe i should give some unit a Ensnare ability.
3. i dont really get Hero Limits honestly.
4. atleast i wanned the Farm to do smth
5. "3 food with that stat, probably same applies to Rock Thrower" no? they both take 2 food. i dont get what did you mean
6. Its like the Goblin Landmine.

Edit the map thread description of this thread and add it there. Check how other map threads do it.
Map Development is for works in progress, not finished or closed to finished ones that were already uploaded to the Maps forum before the Map Development one started.

Curious, does the computer players work in older patches then?

1. It doesn't have to be self-made, Custom Warcraft 3 Spells & Systems GUI / JASS / Lua has quite a selection to choose from, or just combine existing abilities with simple triggering. It's optional. For me, it feels bland at the moment.
2. You can also go with a dedicated anti-air unit, so there's no need for Ensnare or Web
3. World Editor > Advanced > Gameplay Constant > (scroll down) Techtree - Dependency Equivalent (Hero) > add your heroes to this list
4. It can do something that doesn't snowball hard like workers. I also made my farm train worker in a campaign I used to worked on and oh boy, base missions are pure torture hunting every last farm.
5. I mean, I think they should take 3 food instead of 2 food, or they need to be slightly weakened so they are equivalent to other 2 food units.
6. Ah, no wonder I was confused :xxd:
