I would like to shame Rui and some other people, and other moderators for their bad treatment of newbies, due to newbies not knowing about the update button for maps, and negative reputationing them. This will drive newbies away, of which could of became excellent modders or such, or may even put the moderators on a banlist... Why could Rui and Elenai simply warn these newbies?

You may upload your map once and only once.
To upload a new version, update your map by clicking the button above the map's name, or by going to [My Maps] and updating from there.

By uploading a map, you agree to:
Adhere to these rules and the general site rules,
Respect the decisions of the Maps Moderation Team, and
Address all questions and complaints to the Maps Resource Moderation forum.

I personally think that giving them negative rep is good enough, having spam is worst in the resource section.

Site Rules said:
Please do not double post in threads or make two of the same thread. We have an edit button for a reason, if you accidently double posted/threaded, please delete it before we do.
Uploading the same map twice could be considered making two of the same thread, which goes against the rules.

By considered, you mean you are desperately trying to find something to persecute these newbies. However, its also talking about the edit button. "We have an edit button for a reason". What about that? You cant remove your map with the edit button, then delete message, can you?

You are a big bad meanie! They didn't mean to spam! This has more original rules then other sites, and they probably go "No flaming no trolling no porn stuff no hostile stuff etc"...

Posting a new verison of your map in another thread is just so wrong.

Can you moderate all the spam all these newbies give? Do you know how how annoying it is to moderate things that make no sense or are just spam?

What makes you think they didn't mean to spam?

Everything. Did they flame anybody? Troll anybody? Annoy anybody (other then 2 times upload)? They are simply newbies, who don't know something. This attitude must be what is with the DoTA community. Thanks for this breakthrough.

I would recommend that when they first register, that they will be guided to a brief set of rules (not too long) so that they will understand few concepts which they must follow and what is expected from them from The Hive Workshop. Probably a quick learning curve should do so that they will understand and eventually flow off really well. I am seeing good for this reason, however some are just not listening and otherwise continue, not realizing what they have done. Some etiquette would they understand well and apply it here.

I can see from the Members List, there are so many users which are rather left empty. The interface should make it easy for users to understand such things here; when I joined, it was easy to get through and eventually I uploaded a tool and knew I can updated instead of making multiple instances of it.

Yes, I can see some new users have been banned with only few posts, but I have seen some which have been given warnings before they have been given a negative reputation. It seems some repeat and fail to expect what is been told. The only thing I would like to suggest here is that some people will otherwise know what to do, as long as they know the rules firstly. They would become some excellence, however if they don't understand such things then they won't get there.

You said you have read, understood and agree to abide by the rules.

You cannot blame anyone if you failed to abide by it, considering you say yes to the agreement. If you are making a business deal with somebody, you cannot back off from the deal after you sign the contract. The same goes here.

The set of rules is already at the pages where they are uploading the sources.

Elenai is a map mod?

On a serious note, I personally don't think that a few points of reputation loss could be taken as more than a simple warning. I usually don't neg re-uploaders if they do it for the first time, but it's just personal preference, anyone else who does simply does his job. I don't know why people make such a fuss about rep itself anyway.

I think what he is trying to say is that there's nothing wrong with warning people first, if they keep doing it then 'negative rep' (whatever that is) them. I don't see the hive as an elitist website, otherwise I wouldn't have signed up, so lets not turn into one...?

Elenai is not even a map moderator.... Why are you dragging him into this?

Anyway, If they did it once, one of the maps should be deleted and the other one have a post informing him to not do it again.

If he does it again then -rep / infract.

Then again I generally do not punish people.

Shame denied. I'll give them cookies, though, for doing their job.

Yes, that's true. Haven't been in the Tools much lately uploading, but usually you would get that when you want to upload something as such (eg. Map, Tool etc...). I forgot about that, but thanks for reminding me for that. I think that solves pretty much everything ;) .

Actually I have to agree with Ricardo Irving, tho he is a strange guy xD.
Well if newbie didnt FIND "readme" then that's Hive problem now newbie's fault...

Try to highlight those rules somehow. And make them short as you can coz only few read the rules.

When you first joined teh Hive did you take 15 minutes to read the rules? I didn't, and a lot also didn't do that I think. These ''newcomers'' think WAY to easily about uploading their map according to me. When I read a review of a rejected map, its always polite and clear. Its the user reviews like ''WTF GAY SHIT MAP F U 1/10000000'' that make the newcomers angry.

Well Davjo, realize that this site is quite serious. Its not like some random wc3 site. They have their stuff, they do their stuff, good.

If they rejected the map, there was a reason for that related with rules. Hive is kinda strange site... it has 15% of dota community behavior.
