Path of the Damned


The complete Reign of Chaos Undead campaign, adjusted to support up to 8 players.

8-PLAYER CAMPAIGNS
RoC Human: The Scourge of Lordaeron
RoC Undead: Path of the Damned
RoC Orc: The Invasion of Kalimdor
RoC Night Elf: Eternity's End

How does it work?
Players in this campaign share a single base. They are able to use each other's Crypts, Altars, Temples of the Damned, Slaughterhouses, Sacrificial Pits, and Boneyards to produce units. Any research they complete is applied to all players.

To harvest resources, players simply harvest with Ghouls as usual, and assign your Acolytes to a completed Haunted Gold Mine. All resources gathered are split equally between all players.

Everyone who is not playing as a plot-critical hero (Arthas, Kel'Thuzad) is able to choose a hero from the Altar of Darkness to lead their own army.* The maximum size of each person's army depends on how many people are playing, as they split a pool of 100 food between them. Four players would each have a food cap of 25.

*except in the very first mission

This campaign can be played in Classic or Reforged graphics.

How hard is it?
At the start of each mission, players vote for Normal or Hard difficulty. Normal mode uses Blizzard's hard difficulty as a base, and then makes it a little bit harder for every player int he game. Hard mode adds additional defenders and stronger / more frequent attack waves.


Should this really be played with eight people?
It doesn't require eight people. It all depends on how much chaos you want. Personally, I think about four is a good balance, but the maps can handle any number. In fact, if you wanted to play with even more people, all you would have to do is open some more slots in the map editor and place their starting locations, and all the triggers should automatically work with as many players as you cram in between the AI factions.

What in-game commands are available?
"-cam ####" or "-zoom ####" will adjust the camera.
"[Escape]" to vote to skip a cutscene.
"-votekick" will bring up a dialog box to select a player, and everyone can vote.

I liked the concept but it gets kinda boring and slow paced after a while. Also you get invulnerable ghouls on map 4, and the buildings will belong to players in map 5 rather than to the usual "Undead Scourge" team

  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.

My friends group are thoroughly enjoying your 8p Human campaign, thank you so much for creating it! I had a few questions if that's okay!

I'm curious to know if the Normal/Hard difficulty options are coming to the rest of the campaigns? We like the increased challenge in Human campaign.
Also, do you happen to have any plans on creating the TFT campaigns as well?

Yes, I'll be working on the Normal/Hard options for the other campaigns over the next couple of days.

I also just started TFT. I'm shooting to have that done by mid-February. But only the Night Elf/Alliance/Scourge campaigns. I'm not sure I could really make the Rexxar one work.

Thanks for the update. My group is currently enjoying playing through this campaign on Hard difficulty.

We noticed the first player getting Archimonde on Mission 5 which doesn't seem intended.

Really good experience overall with a party of 3 on Hard difficulty (except Chapter 7) ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
We encountered a crash on the Siege of Dalaran mission when playing on Hard. Some seconds after the wave containing Mortar Teams is defeated the game would crash consistently. Playing on Normal difficulty seems to avoid the crash.
Looking forward to trying the rest of the campaigns!
