Terraining Contest #3 - Four Seasons

In winter i can see a green circle and is ther any thing behind those trees? if ther is not then it's bad...

yeah indeed. Volvox it looks good but those ferns wouldn't survive the winter

It's actually not the end of the world, it's a cliff. There's more stuff behind that. maybe I'll put some rocks there so it looks more like that.

I'm very glad this made it through. Anyway I'm kinda late (6 days) because I wasn't paying attention for about a week and a half but ill get started right away. I made a practice picture (or rather four) though I cant submit the terrain as i made it before Augest 1st so i better start working on a new one.

add fog, doesnt look like much fog there. No sky is there, get one. Seeing the end of the world is always ugly. to blank in the back with all the grass. and that yellow green tree looks out of place. on the right side, meaning it doesnt look good as yellow green. stands out to much for me.

Ok. so i did my first set there is no winter yet but there will be soon. i think its okey but i don't feel quite satisfied with it. i think it needs more, well just more.

press V for in game settings to apply. For other shortcuts go to the View tab.

And Airhead, i would say you need more in your summer picture, it seems to have less than the spring one. And maybe a light light yellow fog. and no rain hehe, but sometimes it rains in the summer. The fall picture has green rocks icky. And i dont know maybe not enough trees in the fall one. Ill look at them again.

Yeah those green rocks are just icky looking to me. and try holding down control and scrolling out more, seems like behidn the trees the world stops, maybe its the fog.

ok thx i was trying to make the fall rocks the barrens ones so it keeps the fall theme color (brown) but i couldent get it to work i dont wanna re-place the rocks because they would move and stuff and that would look really wierd. and the world ending thats just the fog theres is about 1/4 of the map behind it but the fog is too thick to see. on the rain in summer havent you ever heard of summer showers? well whatever i guess its more like hail. so anyway i was wondering what to put into the summer, after all summer and spring are very similar. ill keep working on it

Well i did say it rains in the summer sometimes i live in oregon after all. And you can do replace doodads in one of the menu options. And on my submissions i actually had to look back and forth between other seasons because i kept changing stuff. Id like to know what you think of my screen shots, they are on page 6 somewhere of this thread.

AirHead, your fog seems spooky, it starts suddenly and gets really dense at once. Try making it more even. An advice; set the start to 0 and end to 20 000, that will make it more realistic.

Peoples spring and summer are so close. I'd try and get them a little more different. Here in BC spring means rain. Not sure if that's the same for most people, but one suggestion I may make is to add rain to your spring just to make it slightly different. The rain won't effect your score for the judging, it's just a suggestion.

i thought the samething between my summer and spring, didnt know exactly what to change, i figured in summer more green and plants, but even then i only made more flowers and made things greener. Maybe i'll change my summer and spring a bit.

I think the most difficult thing is to make the same scenery to every season. It's the point of this contest so I dont think you're allowed to.

The thing is that, trees look VERY different in between Summer and Winter. Many small plants are non-visible, and snow covers all small terrain features. So, it could be the same scene, but with differences besides the doodads replaced with snowy versions.

You make one scene for all of them. Things can change, but I need to be able to tell that it's the same place, just a different season. So no you cannot make different scenes.

Yeah, you are right. I couldn't be able to do winter version. And as said before this is not really fit to our concept, looks like more hell, not summer. Thanks for the comments.

ok i got my next set of my WIP's tell me what you think

in order from left to right spring, summer, fall, winter. i don't really feel satisfied with the winter one, but maybe y'all can help me figure out whats wrong with it.

also i wrote a two line poem about my terrain just for giggles it might be bad i spent like all of 10-20 seconds making it
