Another screenie, sadly enough after the shot my editor crashed. Reducing over an hour of hard work back to my first WIP...
But I think after a day when I recovered from trashing around my keyboard and yelling at my pc . I'll redo it

Nice idea^^, but 2 things... I see colorful flowers growing near a tree that appearently died of the cold.
And it doesn't looks, gloomy(but that's prolly because of the flowers)

Volvox may i suggest using some brush? Throw them all along the mountain edge and make alot. it will spice it up and make it look more real.

I calmed down. Redone. Got the map. Here is a wip.
I like the idea a lot. The boat looks cool. It is supposed to be shipwrecked right?

They foreground is bad though. You need to improve pretty much evrey aspect of it.

I don't like that arch just floating there.
Me neither. I also dislike the plainness of the ground in the front of the city/castle. It's bare except for a tree. Add grass and tile variation. Try making the water turn into dirt, then grassy dirt, then grass. That's what I usually do.

I spent 45 minutes or so trying something, hope you like it!

Btw, Childeric's gets my vote. That is awesome.

Childeric, it looks really good now. This contest is getting a lot of good submissions!

Karzvitch, that is also good. I would add shrubs and things to the path though.

Also lower the Outland Spire towards the left. Looking close it appears to float.
Also, here's another, which do you think is better?

"You venture toward the realm of nighmares, where demons feed, angels mourn, and death walks freely."

WIP. Can't decide what to cover the mountains with. Suggestions?

Cover the mountains with a red or grayish rock tile, and put a few rocks at the bottom. But don't mass them.

And also, add some dead trees, and get rid of the end of the map (use a fog fading thing)
