The Tavern of the Wise

A long time ago, hidden deep within the heart of a forested village, there stood a humble tavern. On a stormy evening, beneath the flickering glow of lanterns, a lone warrior sat at the counter, his hands wrapped around a mug of ale. His eyes were heavy with sorrow, his posture burdened by a weight far greater than any armor.

“Why?” you may ask. Why did this seasoned warrior shed tears? Was it the memory of comrades lost? The burden of battles fought? No. It was far deeper.

This man, who once wielded his blade with purpose, had grown weary. Weary of the endless evil that plagued the innocent. Weary of the screams that haunted his nights. Weary of his own failures to protect those he swore to defend.

Yet, as he drained his mug and stood to leave, his eyes burned with something new—a glimmer of determination. This was his moment. His time to rise.

It was time to try... or die.

Background Story

In the age of men, humanity's strength was forged in countless battles to secure their lands. Yet, their victories were never absolute. The undead, led by an ancient and malevolent force, would rise again and again, crushing hope and spreading despair.

Generations ago, during the darkest of times, a legendary warrior sealed the source of evil deep within the depths of hell itself. But even his immense sacrifice was not enough to promise eternal peace. The seal was fragile, and whispers foretold the day when it would break.

Now, the seal weakens, and hell’s flames begin to flicker once more. Chaos is on the horizon, and humanity needs a hero as great as the legendary warrior of old. But will they rise in time, or will the world be consumed by darkness?
Your Role

Choose your path. Shape your destiny. Will you restore balance, or succumb to the chaos?

  • Warrior
    Orphaned as a child, you were raised with nothing but rage in your heart and a sword in your hand. Trained relentlessly, you now seek vengeance for the death of your family. Will you become a shielded protector, a relentless swordsman, or a tech-savvy engineer wielding advanced nanotechnology?
  • Archer
    A noble guardian of the battlefield, your people have chosen you as their savior. Quick, agile, and precise, you strike fear into your enemies. Will you master single-target elimination, explosive chaos as a rocketman, or the finesse of a crazy spearman?
  • Mage
    Hailing from the eastern mountains, you are one of the last of your kind. After a 1,000-day pilgrimage, you arrive to aid humanity with your wisdom. Will you heal and protect, devastate your foes with pure power, or cast dark curses upon those who oppose you?

Hey, can you please make version without weather and global enviroment effects, it drops fps in reforge from 130 to 12.

mission 3 to class level up if you dont have a free space it does not drop on the ground. And you can no longer cancel quest and retake it

some of the hotkeys overlap and cant be used it seems

Problems solved. Now Reset really returns to the newbie character.

I can try to do that, only it would really give me a huge job.

mission 3 to class level up if you dont have a free space it does not drop on the ground. And you can no longer cancel quest and retake it

some of the hotkeys overlap and cant be used it seems


I got to test it, and I found no problem with that mission. It is like all the others. hmm ... There are some keys that overlap for some reason to merge with other spells.

i went back and tried it again and it seem to work fine had full inv while killing kobolds got the counter and everything this time. and it dropped right at my feet at 10 kills

Second, you should make every skill usable by different hotkey.

Tree in the left bottom corner of the gold farm is blocking the way.
Quest giver Marcus (missions 22-28) don't have exclamation mark.
Some NPCs have exclamation mark, but have nothing.
Manareg is very slow on tier 2 and 3. No slots for potions. Backpack will resolve the issue.
Digivolution stone have standard description and name in the shop.
Grizzle +1 doesn't work. I have Grizzle and gem from the shop in inventory, then buy parchment and nothing happens.
Arcane Staff description is wrong. Same about gem quests.
Move camera to character, when hero teleported.
Change starfall, poison dagger, rejuvenation and etc to INT based skills. Poison and heal can be percent based instead (like deal initial 6k dmg and 1% of max health per second or heal 5% of max health per second).
Need drop from bosses.

P.S. waterfall dungeon entrance is awesome idea!

Is anyone else getting the issue where you don't get all your stat points when you load a character and your skills are back at level 1?

ADDITIONAL NECESSARY INFORMATION
  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
  • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.

EDIT:

  1. -I guess you could force the creep minimap display off via triggers.
  2. -the Militia you're supposed to select at the start has no description. Learn about tooltips: Tooltip Tutorial

  4. -Newbie the Newbie?
  5. -spells and items seem really Warcraft III. Where's the creativity? Maybe some customization?
  6. -the camera should go after the hero when he is being moved from one map region to another.
  7. -abilities could mention cooldowns.
  8. -skill points should have a different icon instead of the pine and the description shouldn't say anything about lumber.
  9. -also, I guess gold is not mined from gold mines here.
  10. -shop item cooldowns are annoying when you play with more players.
  11. -all Healing Salves and Clarity Potions look identical. You could either use various icons or chage the hue. This program will help with converting from .blp to .other stuff and viceversa: BLP Lab v0.5.0
  12. -gnoll, troll and murloc huts under human control?
  13. -should mention how much Howl of Terror lasts.
  14. -what does Monster Lure do?
  15. -kobolds are in northeast not northwest.
  16. -Upgrade Class quest does not contain all information.
  17. -Pedro's scroll has tooltip missing.
  18. -space orcs and marines!?
  19. -Edmundo and Janaina's quests don't say the required levels.
  20. -OK, good some spells are at least enhanced/edited via triggers.
  21. -annoying that you can't get before first class quests if you're not the required level again.
  22. -not sure if barrels should give xp.
  23. -the Pet Dog needs a better description of the spells, values.
  24. -animals might block the way temporarily and you cannot kill them.
  25. -another issue is not being able to take more quests at once.

It's one of those old school chore crawlers.
The systems are not bad but the monotony of the gameplay is.
There's not much or practically any story.

I just tried to run the map on b.net multiplayer, it was a full-house, but after orange picked the character from Bathroom, no one else could pick, also my load code from single player mode does not fit into the chat.
