Moonlight Grove

This bundle is marked as useful / simple. Simplicity is bliss, low effort and/or may contain minor bugs.
This is the last map that I will post until I finish this campaign which is the first one in a serie. This map is called Borderland of Ashenvale and it is a prequel to the map the Moonlight Grove (check out the updated version, the more recent one) and please tell me what do you think about it. If you like it please let me know, it means a lot to me and please feel free to tell me about improvements. I am pretty new at this, but I am trying. No cinematics yet... I have to learn how to make them

--- MERGE ---

Hello, I am Elusirei. I am a new mapmaker and I am working on a custom campaign called Elune's Daughters, that focuses on the night elves situation in Warcraft 3. I have plans for sequels too. Here it is a chapter of the story. I don't know how to make cinematics for the time being, but I am learning. The characters you will see are part of the story alongside the canon ones like Tyrande for example. Tell me your opinions about it and please if you have some advice, I am full ears (get it? cause night elves have big ears... anyway).

Hope you like it. If there are any bugs, please let me know. Also, some of the technical names might be messy, but don't worry about that.

The abilities might seem ridiculous, but there is balance between what the player faces and its forces.

- You've got some fancy-looking items on that elf girl! Reminds me heavily of the heroes from the 𝐓𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐧𝐝 Campaign.

I have a suggestion for you tho. Try separating the tooltip of the item into two parts. The first part can be a description of the item, its origins, and any story-related information. This part can be in a smaller font and a different color. Then, in the second part, you can provide the item's stats in a bigger, normal font. This way, players can quickly spot the stats without having to read through the entire story description of the item. It's a quality-of-life change that's commonly used in all the great campaigns and maps.

- I didn't enjoy having to search the entire forest for these elite units, so I had to cheat and use "iseedeadpeople" to see where they were. I suggest giving some hints to the player about where these elite units are in the forest, or just marking them on the minimap.

- I encountered some glitches during the quests. For instance, when I reached the first hero, the speech text repeated twice for each sentence. Then, when I reached the warden hero, the text kept repeating each time I got close to her, and she never joined me - she just stayed neutral.

- In terms of spells I enjoyed using them, especially vs the Ogres, but not so much against the lvl 9 golems and lvl 10 dragons since they were immune to magic.
I assume you placed those monster groups there to test her spells, as the entire map was mostly empty, with neutral units and buildings scattered everywhere.

Not sure what the story is about or where is it going, I suggest just uploading the whole campaign no matter how bad it is, and just letting ppl play through it from start to finish, this way people would have a greater understanding of the story and of what you want to make of the campaign instead of just uploading random missions like this one.

Thank you so much! The second hero is supposed to be not recruitable. But it is used later quite a lot. I wanted for the player to explore and have this mission as more of a relaxed one, admiring the scenery as much as I could model it. The ogres and the whole magic immune group I thought to be like a surprise and not be an entire peaceful mission.

Those glitches are a little weird because sometimes they happen, and other times they don't, I need to work more on that.

I know it is not worth exploring because of the items but after you defeat the whole magic immune group you can see an ironwood branch that is there for the memes.

This hero is used in previous chapters, that is why she's level 10.

Thank you again a lot, it's very important to me!

  • All units except Mirana join your forces
  • Only Kate can cross the bridge using the Circle of Power (I don't know if that's intended)
Thank you! I updated and fixed everything with a few changes. The quests are now functioning perfect. I think of publishing an updated version, but I think about finishing the campaign and publishing it in one go.

Sorry for not displaying description. This is the updated version of the map ,,The Moonlight Grove". Please tell me what do you think and if you like it, please let me know. It really means a lot to me. I will post another map called The Silence of the forest and after that there will be a break until I will post the full campaign (the first campaign).

Should use black mask instead of hiding the terrain via ALT+TAB feature.
Since the hero starts with max level, abilities should already be learned.
Healing Aura's icon looks active. Could be made to look passive with: Button Manager v1.8.2 Similar with Umbral Crescent and Storm Glaive.
What's the point of items if Kate can't remove any and Felore hasn't any inventory? Alright, Mirana has one.
Kate can't get back from the "alone" part of the game and you might not get the chance to explore the southern part before that.
Enemy units are stationary and cluttered in places on the map.
Quests don't have all their requirements checked and aren't marked as completed.
In chapter 2 Kate is level 6.

Quite rudimentary. No cinematic scenes, proper story/character introduction/interaction (there isn't really a story or something going on; it's more of few generic dialogue lines; usual abilities and gameplay.

Simple.

ADDITIONAL NECESSARY INFORMATION
  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
  • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.
