I got bored waiting, so here it is. Yes, I know Planetside is the name of a game.
Anyways, this RP is an RP on a planet (or multiple, depending). You control yourself and a squad, strike team, or just you. I'll say no armies, but if Var or whoever say we should be allowed, fine.
I.E.:
"Squad, move in to position."
"Orders received, moving to position."
The commander looked across the barren landscape and wondered why they were sent here.
Alternatively, it could be:
"Strike team, report in,"
"Tactical marines ready."
"Heavy support weapons armed."
"Close combat squad standing by."
"Autocannon loaded, flamer functioning. Dreadnought ready for combat."
Or:
The commando looked across the landscape, seeing nothing but desert in his view. Checking his equipment, he walked off towards the first waypoint.

Rules:
1. No godmod or metagaming.
2. Weapons will be balanced by type. I.E. a boltpistol will do the same damage as a laser pistol, but the laser pistol cauterizes the wound, while the boltpistol leaves the wound open to bleed.
3. Be realistic. A nuke is going to wipe out a wall, unless designed otherwise. A 50 ton object is GOING to smash you, unless you move out of the way. An entire city isn't going to be totally nuke-proof.
4. Characters may only carry a certain amount, judged by their physical strength. Using Dawn of War as an example, a Space Marine can carry much more weight than the average man- about 3-4 times as much. This is because their strength is augmented through cybernetics.
5. Main characters CAN NOT BE KILLED. They can be severely wounded, captured, taken prisoner, and interrogated, but they won't die.

Travel: Strike Cruisers you ride in use Warp Tunnels to travel from system to system, taking 1 day per 'jump'. Each system is surrounded by an asteroid sphere.

LORE: (Due to request)
You have been sent to Sector Bara Magna. It contains three planets:
Aurora, a paradise world, and it's moon, Layonara,
Miranda, a cold, resource rich planet,
Ophelia, the tropical planet, and it's moon, Celesta.

You have orders to conquer. Alliances may be formed, enemies made, and war is a certainty.
But be warned, each body has it's own deity, and they most likely will not take kindly to aggressive occupation...

And, don't forget, each character is from a different faction, so there will be no starting alliances.

Characters in the other thread...

So, each one has a gaurdian that poses as a diety of sorts?

Now, what may be the form of transportation? Perhaps, if ships are allowed, there could be the idea that the sector is heavily guarded by a massive asteroid field that covers the entire system, with strange drone-like turrets gaurding the system from fleets. Since Black Sun has no portal or teleportation based technology, they have to send a shutle through, likely a cloaked one to hide from prying eyes :)P) and set up on one of the planets. A further series of transports wil form a supply route of basic equipement and ammunition to begin, just to get them started. Yes, I am trying to create a good reason for there to be a no fleet policy. :p Turrets hidden in an asteroid field, shooting from unknown areas? definetly not using a fleet :p

Freighters will have a hard time getting past the millions of turrets spread across the system, as well as the asteroid threat themselves. Military vessels of cruiser size or larger are going to be royaly screwed. My Drones would require the presence of a military vessel just to be able to operate, so they are out of the question as well.

Just some ideas. Hope they can be implimented :p

The 'Sector' is actually three systems, each surrounded by an asteroid 'sphere', which prevents ships from entering that way. However, there is a series of 'warp tunnels', with two in each sphere.
Think of it as a two-way train, except the travel is much longer.
So,
---------------------------------System 1

-------- System 2

------------------------------------------------------------------ System 3
Using that as an example, System 1 is connected to S2 and 3, and so forth.

You ride in Strike Cruisers, which holds some form of space-ground transportation. For instance, mine use transport gunships to ferry my squad back and forth.

So, each one has a gaurdian that poses as a diety of sorts?
No. They ARE deities. Actual gods and goddesses. Each has their own tastes and abilities.

How bout this? an alien species comes to pick contestants for the games. the winner gets something very nice, I wouldn't know what it was. Maybe power or new technology. The contesants are taken in a large transport with all of the things they'll need. (weapons, shields, armor, possible vehicles, food, and entertainment)

meh. the contest is sounding worse and worse. If each planet had a god or goddess, you'd think they would just eradicate any who even harmed their planet...

So... we ride in Strike Cruisers? Do you have a concept to show what they look like? I was just going to go with a simple transport (the BST Mirona, found in my gallery) that isn't used much at all, and needs some love and attention :p It's a marine transport, able to carry up to 30 marines as well as required supplies. BUt, for longer missions, most of it will be supplies instead of marines :p

Whatever you want, but Strike Cruisers aren't really that big, probably only about 2 times the size of the Mirona. They include med bays and other stuff.

lol I was going to start with resources too! :p So, you and I are headed to Miranda :p

Squad: General Skyguard, wielding a high-grade laser pulse rifle.
Technician Specialist, trained in combat and is a marine, but is majored in mechanic and computers. (Never know what you'll need to hack or build :p)
2 snipers, each with standard scoped sniper rifles.

As well as about 8 other marines carrying standard laser rifles, everyone has 10 glowing concussive grenades, and 5 sonic grenades. Everyone has an enhancement suit with mechanics that boost the performance of the wearer through mechanics. (like the Marine's armour in Starcraft, but a bit lighter due to the use of nano-steel armour (very thin in this case. like paper :p))

Technology:
High-grade laser Pulse Rifle, a clean weapon, if really just a laser rifle with a higher energy level when fired. Extra cooling is required, and is a bit heavier than the standard laser rifle used my marines.

The Scoped Sniper Rifle, is in short, a typical laser rifle, but with a longer energy tank and cooling system. A longer barrel leads to greater accuracy when firing at a target, and is otherwise lightweight compared to a high-grade rifle.

Concussive grenades, about the size of a pineapple grenade, but deadlier, due to the fact that Chozo technology is more advanced than current day technology.

Sonic Grenades, effecting the immediant area, causes the inability to hear for 30 minutes to 2 hours normally. Leaves those affected, confused, surprsed, otherwise disorganized.

Okay, this post is for Var, myself, and anyone else starting in orbit above Miranda.

As your ship exits the Warp Tunnel, you find yourself in orbit above the planet Miranda II, with it's frozen, resource rich areas scattered all over the poles.
However, your scanners pick up the signal of other ships-
You'll have to be quick.

My squad's action is to wait aboard the Guardian and prepare for a drop tomorrow.

If anyone can find a map of a frozen area, please?

Well my squad is called Squad: Asherian's Avengers (yes i know)
This is a 13 man squad there are 4 main characters (scout, heavy, assualt marine, tacitcal sgt) there are 9 others, 3 normal marines, 6 scouts (scouts are the ones that guard the warp gate when the 7 man squad goes on a looks for items. Space marine armor is Ceramtie? is that rightn or is it adamanitale. but its pretty strong but scouts wear normal noob equipment. imperail guard pretty much with a upgrade.) these are the 4 characters, Scout: Chorizan (not your race Varsaigen it means keeper of secerts), Assualt SGT: Talvin, Tactical SGT: Rale Val, Heavy SGT: Gargonus. each one is a accomplished warrior and stratigest. (Each space marine and scout is armed with a combat knife.)

Storm, aren't scouts supposed to "SCOUT". The marines do the guarding, scouts search for things. It's what they do, and if you switch roles, you are going to confuse people. also, it seems that you have four people with the rank of sgt. If that's the case, who's in command? Sgts don't take orders from other sgts.

ok then, I shall begin...

*The transport was doing well, navigating asteroids while taking the clearest path availiable on radar. The planet could be seen on the otherside of the asteroid field. Their 5 day trip was almost over. When they finally escaped the asteroid field and entered a bubble-like space around the planet, their eyes widened. It was... beautiful. It was all being recorded by the ship's computer. The world, glowing on their screen, was a perfect sphere of blues and white, like blue-tinted ice. Though it wasn't a tropical planet or green with forests, it had an icy beauty like no other. The transport moved on, headed towards the atmosphere of the planet.*

they are neyphotes some scouts fit the heavy support rule, some the scouting. They are nicknamed scouts, but they are really called neyphotes. but it is suspected that their are other scouts that travel with the other space marines.
*The Space marine squad jumped off the thunder hawk and it roared over them, and it speed up into the sky majesticaly like a bird. The squad looked around and put down a teleporter beacon. A Massive figure appeared as the flash of light appeared from the sky. it was a terminator squad, but most imposing of them all was the one claded in midnight blue armor. His eyes flashed a cold green as he walked past the squad.
"Brothers we have found are location, Begin the creation of a fortress here. Valor of War, we need the fleet to guard this planet at all times, Brother Celistian gather your tactical squad and mark the areas for our camp."
Celistian bowed and walked away with his squad following him from behind..

OOC: What... planet are you on? Haven't I made myself clear that the entire system is heavily protected by a dense asteroid field, and turrets are spread through the millions throughout? (likely shielded and cloaked, some clamped to the asteroids) You would NEVER be able to get a fleet through safely without losing a vast majority of them and the remaining ships being heavily damaged. Only small ships can safely get through, and must be is small numbers or they trip the sensors of the turrets. And a fortress from what? Your kinda rushing the process of securing the area and beginning to plan and everything required for STARTING a base! D: Your just... rushing everything D:

Sacrid, he's using Space Marines. Scouts are the basic noobs.
Storm, which planet are you on? Until I know that, you can't have a fortress.

ok, storm, this isn't a spaceship rp. this is a plnetside rp, so only planets. space would be for ships traveling between the destinations. Tahril, I'm assuming you're leading this RP on, kindof like a DM. If so, shouldn't you invite people to the games? otherwise, it's all randomness. maybe have a message saying, "Greetings. You have been selected to join in the *pick a name* games. If you decide to join the game, be aware that the competition is tough and the prize beyond your wildest dreams." I guess it could be called the planetside games. XD

Storm, pick a planet that's in the sector. They're on page 1.
Sacrid, it's more like a Great War for a critical position. Although, they could be games... war games, that is.
Var, too bad. You're gonna have to face 'em. Also, pick your actions for the day.

But yeah, I am sort of the DM.

Day 1 has passed in sector Bara-Magna, and with dawn approaching fast, those already stationed must choose their targets wisely, as new ships approach the sector.

Sacrid, Tleno, and Storm, you all get the below message:
"Greetings, warriors. You have been contacted to participate in a war game, stationed in Sector Bara-Magna. If you accept, you will be faced with formidable foes, but offered great rewards should you succeed."

1. Re-outfit the squad to:
Powerfist and boltpistol for me,
Heavy Bolter for Ethalia,
Tactical Boltguns for the Sisters,
Powerfist and boltpistol for Xenia,
with a Longbolt sniper for Aella.
2. Take the southern-most region of Miranda.
3. Station 3 Heavy Support squads at the region, holed up in bastions for defense

Oh what the heck, let's just say invintations were given out, ok?
IC: "Greetings, warriors. You have been contacted to participate in a war game, stationed in Sector Bara-Magna. If you accept, you will be faced with formidable foes, but offered great rewards should you succeed." Nova replayed the message again. They were coming close to the massive asteroid field.
"Are you sure you want to go through this?" the engineer, Rane, asked.
"How many times do I have to say this? Yes, I am. We have nothing better to do, and we can at least take a look at the planet behind this massive sphere of asteroids."
"*Sigh* I guess so. Well, I guess I'll take the helm. You gonna cover us?" asked Rane.
"You know it." replied Nova.
Nova walked turned and walked out of the bridge. He walked through the hallway and reached the hangar bay. In front of him lay four ships with their cockpits open. He walked towards his fighter and jumped inside.

He grabbed the headset and put it on. He looked down and pressed a few buttons on the screen. The ship activated and the systems turned on. "Are you ready?" said a voice in the headset.
"All systems are green." Nova replied.
"Affirmative. We'll be counting on you to stop those rocks, you know."
"Yeah, yeah, I know. I already had this conversation with Rane."
"Ok, I'm just saying. Be careful though. If you miss one, we'll take care of it. Also, only go for the ones coming at us."
"I will. Don't worry."

*Landing upon the planet, the engines die down, and the doors open. Emerging from the transport, metallic suits crunch down upon the snowy ground. And as the leader of the group looks around, his eyes shrouded in the darkness of his helmet, he pulls out a binocular and scans the enviroment around, checking the icy mountains, and the deep deep valleys below. His computer in his suit provided further data on the conditions of the planet, and the door to the transport sealed itself, keeping itself warmer than the exterior. The gear was in the transport for the most part, and the group began to explore.*

IC: Nova turned on the boosters and shot out of the hangarbay as soon as the doors opened. Nova made it out of the Kestrel's shadow and began blasting at the asteroids. As soon as the kestrel was inside the asteroid field, its turrets were turned on and they began shooting at the asteroids. The kestrel weaved between the rocks, dodging the larger asteroids as they blocked paths.

Days passed, and still they continued. the ship's robot controlled the turrets and the ship's movements. Finally, as they reached the end, they could see the planet. The three Ketairans looked out of the bridge's windows. "Well, you can't say it isn't beautiful." said Rane.
"true." Nova said.
"Well, we're finally here. Rane, scan the planet for lifesigns. I'll go look for a good landing spot."

it's to protect my ship from the asteroids, not them. besides, I was going at full speed to get through it as quickly as possible. btw, wouldn't the planet be basically dead? It has asteroids all around it and that would block the sun. I'm assuming that the asteroid field is throghout the system, and sinse there is so much, there must've been some major problems where the planets were broken apart.

will we? I'd say two systems collided and the planets began smahing into eachother. If there are enough large planets, I guess it could cover the entire system, but I'd prefer it if there were a gap between the inner field and the out field for the system. somewhere near the middle. and besides, it'd have to be a disk, not a sphere. they'd be orbiting the sun and planets.

Meh. He could have nuked every rock in the sphere, but hey. And Sacrid, they're (loose) spheres around the planets and their moons (if they have one). But yes, you will find out about the entire sector later.
IC: On the surface of Miranda, the Lowlands in the south has been changed from a frozen wasteland to a frozen wasteland with resource facilities and a fortress. Marines with heavy weapons stand guard in the four bastions, ready for anything. Occasional pods fall in to the Bay, with large mechanical constructs moving parts from place to place. Two buildings stand, not yet fully built.

Pleasant. So its already inhabited...

*As they walked downthe frozen paths hours after landing, they still admire the towering cliffs opposite them. When they finally reach the bottom of the gorge, they begin taking core samples, and scans of the area. When done, they head back for supplies and lunch*

And lunch... I thought they'd have feeding tubes that feed them nutri-slime or something.
Actually, we both hit around the same day.

gads, I can't imagine anyone wanting to use those tubes. I know some people have to, like those who get broken jaws, but that's about it.

"Hey, I've found a good landing spot!" yelled Rane
"and the sensors picked up some objects down there. I'm willing to bet there are people down there, maybe a ship." said the engineer. (still need a name for him. DX)
"Really now? WEll, we should be cutious. We hae no clue what they are doing down there, and for all we know, it could be some sort of secret base. They probably wouldn't have to hide it because of the huge asteroid fields. You wouldn't fly through that just to check a planet would you? It'd be too dangerous." said Nova.

The Company Started to disembark from their thunder hawks and they were all carrying materials. All around them were vechiles logging massive adamatuale materials. The area which was once a dense forest was now cleared of the area surronding the mountain. Immediatley the servitors and serfs were rushing over to the sides of the marines taking the materials back to the consturction zone.
"Sir how long shall this take?" Asked one of the Squad SGTs who was waiting patiently. "because my men need to perpare for any attacks from any Xenos Creatures."
"Calm Down Brother, do not be so hastey and to disregard the vale of secercey in which we commit our forces here. Their is a strange energy reading here on this world and we are setting up a outpost here to ensure, its protection, I say at least 3 days for it to be complete."

How do you know that you are suppossed to protect it, not take it? I don't recall there being anything saying tha there was a strange, yet powerful energy source. Tahril should explain what we're doing here and set up some goals for us.

*The Kestrel entered orbit and began its descent to the landing spot. The ship eventually cleared the clouds and landed on a plateau. Nova got out and looked around.
"Are you sure this is a good place? There's not much here."
"I don't get it. The scans indicate that there is a lake here. But I see nothing." Rane said.
"Show me." Nova began walking back into the ship, and Rane followed.
"We should be about here." Rane said, pointing on the map.*

*"Ok, let's see. You're saying we landed here, and there's a lake really close by?"*
"Yeah, if what we saw outside is any indication..."
The two looked at eachother. Nova smiled. "We're right on top of it." Rane smiled too.
"ok, so first thing we do is tunnel our way down to it right? then set up base inside. If we can hide the ship, that'd be great, though if we an keep it in the center, that should hide it from the ground."
