Onyxia's Lair

🐲Welcome to Onyxia's Lair🐲

"Onyxia built the lair. The entrance to the lair was carved to look like the maw of the broodmother herself, with its inner pathway being magma-lined and the ground cracked, glowing with fire from beneath. The arching stone ceiling groans and shifts, creating constant rockfalls. The walls spill lava where the heat can't be contained.

Onyxia is the daughter of the mighty Black Aspect, Deathwing, and sister of the scheming Nefarian, Lord of Blackrock Spire. Whereas her father favors brute force, and her brother creates twisted abominations to carry out his will, Onyxia prefers subtle manipulation, and delights in meddling in the political affairs of mortals, using her charm and power to influence such delicate matters between the different races to her own ends. Some believe that Onyxia has even assumed an alias once used by her father - the title of the royal House Prestor. Most recently, she very nearly succeeded in destroying the political structure of Stormwind in the guise of Katrana Prestor, before being unmasked by Marshal Windsor and fleeing to her lair: a fiery cave below the Dragonmurk, a dismal swamp located within Dustwallow Marsh. There she is guarded by her kin, the remaining members of the insidious black dragonflight."

Onyxia's Lair (Map)

It's an OK map, extensively using regular abilities and gameplay mechanics with very little scripting for the boss fight. It's a nice multiplayer experience but replayability isn't that wide. Please don't choose unfitting map tags. Fixed. Approved...
Just finished whatever the standard difficulty mode is, singleplayer, it's very impressive, I loved it, phase 2 is very fun! HOWEVER, warlock AI was a pain to deal with. Before the boss it keeps pulling mobs from a distance and banishing targets for no good reason. Only useful during the bossfight.

Hey! Thanks for playing! It is intentional simulating a WoW Player that pulls everything:xxd:

ADDITIONAL NECESSARY INFORMATION
  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
  • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.

My only gripe is that the Warlock AI keeps banishing mobs preventing everyone else from dealing with them; Otherwise very fun recreation albeit honestly low replayability

@kadakash1 I put a video in the description now of the great HushBook where he did a run of the map :infl_thumbs_up:
You are welcome :)

At first, I expected to see a full copy of the Onyxia Lair layout, but this version is plausible and suffers well. It somehow reminded me of one particular dungeon map from the Founding of Durotar campaign:
In the end core gameplay of map - battling Onyxia felt nice on normal difficulty and beatable without any issues. The original raid is more chaotic.

Like.
