Here's the new post you'll see on the Hive's news page regarding Wc3:WoW (Will also be about the other hosted projects, but here's the part about us!):

Craka_J said:
Wc3:WoW has recently been revived and is now being worked on by Craka_J, BoneBreaker, Hawkwing, and Skrab. The first things we'll attend to as far as triggering goes will either be the Inventory & Equipment System or the arsenal of bugs we have yet to fix. Most likely we will fix the heap of bugs that lay around in Wc3:WoW to make BETA testing more pleasing for our testers and an easier experience for us to smoothly test and develop our own works. This means the Inventory & Equipment System will have to be put on delay, but since the project was inactive for so long anyway, we doubt that will impact many of you as surprisingly uncalled for. We will continue to work on the Inventory & Equipment System after a good number of bugs have been fixed or at least tinkered with to make less noticeable in the game.

It also tells you that we're going to focus on fixing bugs again, this time for sure! Bugs and glitches with Wc3:WoW is a major issue which the Wc3:WoW Team had been striving to get to work on for a while now. Hopefully we fix all that can be fixed and testing for both the testers and us will be much easier and enjoyable.

It's not all that bad. Depends what you're working on. Items aren't very fun to make, though.

Condemned Entertainment apologizes for the terrible inconvenience of not actively answering emails and posts regarding Wc3:WoW. For some time, it was on hold due to the lack of members working on it. However, recently a new member named 'BoneBreaker' joined the Wc3:WoW Division to help recontinue and develop Wc3:WoW. We are currently working on fixing a great number of reported bugs and are working on the spells for all classes as well. BoneBreaker is also cleaning up a lot of the trigger work to reduce the chances of memory leaks/lag.

As for when you can expect the next private/closed or public open BETA, it's still a mystery for us. When all the bugs are fixed and when we've added some new stuff, you can look forward to seeing some posts about the BETA then. We're not looking into BETA applicants very much yet because the majority of them never do as we ask of them to do: to report bugs they find. Instead, they join, take the campaign, and we never hear from them again. That is why we are hand-picking BETA testers that we believe have the loyalty and potential to do as we ask.

Yes. And it happens very often, too. Often enough to ruin it for the rest of the people who want to/could be loyal BETA testers for Wc3:WoW. Maybe I'll make a list of those people and post it so we all know who to blame.

Sure thing, NinjasDontFight. We'll show some screenshots of the new character creation system for sure sometime this month too. As for terrain screenshots... not entirely sure. I will be working very hard on fixing terrain again and improving Orgrimmar.

Hmm... I'm thinking of not only improving most of the areas terrained in Wc3:WoW (Especially Valley of Trials) but am also contemplating whether I should begin working on Dun Morough/Ironforge or not... The goods of this are:
  • Another Alliance race may be enabled in the public BETA.
  • We get an early start on more of Lordaeron.
The bads of this however are:
  • Work on other areas will be less focused on and will be finished slower.
  • An even bigger filesize to handle the new models and textures for the dwarven area of the game.

Either way, I will still be working on revamping Valley of Trials to be more accurate (HernanG did a good job, but it isn't accurate to the real game) and other areas as well. However, this decision will affect the progression rate.

hmm,

wait the areas are gonna located like exactly in the Real WOW?

i think you should move it around a bit. otherwise, things might get obvious.

because i played the real WOW so many times, that i memorized all the secret passage ways in crap ( especially in the human areas [ elewyn, stranglethorn etc ]

and by the way, dun mourgh would be the most awsome place ( since snow iz alwayz cool )

but u should stay pay more attenion on finishing terrain. but u should start ironforge ( for inspirational purposes maybe ?)

If it's Warcraft 3, anything is possible.

Even small details in terrain.

But only if your computer can handle that much.

BTW, speaking of which, how are you going to reduce lag? If you're going to have even moderate terrain then there must be alot of grass models, and on most non-alienware computers this will cause massive lag.

Lol, trust me, you won't need an alienware PC to run this mod. We have created a few triggers already that allows the player to change the FoV value, making it show more or less of the terrain and improving performance/quality. Lag shouldn't be much of a problem in Wc3:WoW.

There will be plenty of other anti-lag and low-end PC friendly triggers to help improve the satisfaction of ALL players. My PC can run the mod at best quality with best performance, but I am still very used to my old PC that sucked terribly. Therefore, I know how much a person can get irritated at a game that's awesome, but sucks because of the technical problems as simple as lag. The mod runs fine and the only thing that I've found to be slow in most cases on slow PCs is loading through maps, but that's only because of the massive amount of content in the campaign. We're starting to use .wtg and .j files now though to decrease the filesize of each individual map caused just from the triggers. Loading times are expected to decrease after we do this to all maps in the campaign.

The Escape Key is being used as a key to toggle through camera modes. There are currently two camera modes. They are:
  1. The first camera mode (default) is a third person camera that follows behind your character and the camera automatically turns when the character turns - relax, it's a very smooth system. When this mode is enabled, the Arrow Keys serve as character movement command keys. For example, Up runs forward, Down walks backwards, and Left & Right turn. No strafing in the game just yet.
  2. The second camera mode is a third person camera that follows the position of your character, but the Arrow Keys can be used to adjust the rotation, angle, and height of the camera focused on your character. You can even scroll to zoom in and out!
The chances of us changing the function of the Escape Key to serve another purpose is very unlikely, but the chances of us adding more camera modes is probable. We used to have a RTS view camera mode added, but later felt that giving the players the freedom to easily see everything took away the excitement of exploring the world of Warcraft.

Who knows. Maybe we will end up changing it if enough people complain about it. However, it's the best option we have for now.

More good news!

I've been working very hard on the terrain of Stormwind, Thunder Bluff (I am going to redo Thunder Bluff's terrain to be more precise), Durotar, and Orgrimmar. Pretty soon I'll also begin working on The Barrens and Ragefire Chasm. I should be able to put up one or two new screenshots soon.

We're starting to use WoW loading screens to help make the game feel like WoW. Here are some samples of what it looks like:
WC3ScrnShot_110908_025042_01.jpg
(Loading Screen that is used when zoning in Lordaeron territory [Thanks to Hubcool])
WC3ScrnShot_110908_121247_01.jpg
(Loading Screen that is used when entering the Ragefire Chasm instance [Thanks to Hubcool])

Although the loading screens are low quality, mario_64 generously offered his help with getting us much more high quality loading screens. Hopefully he can help with exporting and importing WoW sounds and music!

Yes. Lordaeron has their own loading screen and Kalimdor has their own. So basically, zoning to areas will bring up the same loading screen within the continent except for instances. So if you are zoning from Durotar to The Barrens, you'll see the same loading screens. But when you zone to Ragefire Chasm, you'll see the Ragefire Chasm loading screen. Instances are the only maps that will have their own loading screens.

We're currently building up the next closed BETA which will be distributed amongst our still loyal BETA testers. After we've finished fixing a number of bugs, added a number of spells, and added a few features to the project and after the BETA is handed out, I'll begin terraining a new and Wc3:WoW's first PvP Battleground, Arathi Basin! Stay tuned for more information about it...

The Burning Steeps and Molten Core were in the original World of WarCraft, weren't they? Thus, they'll eventually be added to Wc3:WoW.

Want to be a BETA tester, huh? PM me a well written and extensive report about yourself and why you think you can be a good BETA tester choice. You must remember that we're accepting only loyal and active Wc3:WoW users now, so if you show up out of the blue wanting to test our project, it simply won't happen.

To all BETA testers: You must be registered at our official Wc3:WoW forum so you can access the private Wc3:WoW Bug Database. Once registered, send me a PM at that site so I know that I can give you BETA Testing authorization. You must be a BETA tester in order to be given the BETA tester membership, obviously. Thank you!

In other news, I've been making tremendous progress on Arathi Basin and it's almost done already. I'll show off screenshots when I feel comfortable with it. Hawkwing has made a Horde, Alliance, and Neutral banner for Arathi Basin for when players need to capture areas. He has also been working on some building textures and a new Stormwind tileset. Screenshots will be shown off soon!

[EDIT]: Attached a screenshot of Hawkwing's three new flag models/textures made for Wc3:WoW's Arathi Basin battleground.

SO you going to re-do the Valley of Trials still? It was nothing like the real thing.

I got lost. :bored: ... I'd be glad to see it changed.
