Wow ppl, this forum is over a year old and we're still working on it? It seems to me that you guys are not working on it a lot... No affence

"Not working on it a lot"? How can you possibly have missed all the HUGE progress they have made the latest time? This project has had it's moments of "dead" status but right now it seems that they're working quite hard on it.

Edit: Holy cupcakes of doom! I just noticed that 355 people has voted in this poll! Where the hell did they all come from?

Sorry for not posting the Arathi Basin screenshots last night as I had promised I would, I was having some technical difficulty with my computer that evening (Perfect evening to start giving me problems) and I couldn't upload the new shots. However, I'm back now and I actually got more of the terrain done. I also did a lot of work on reterraining Thunder Bluff... what a mess that map is. I think within three weeks Thunder Bluff should be ready to be shown off once again, more accurate version. However, there's a problem with the terrain and the editor crashes every time I try to use the hill tools in the editor in the Thunder Bluff map, so I'm trying to ease whatever I can in there, while still making it look accurate and keep that Thunder Bluff feel.

In Arathi Basin, I worked hardest on the Horde spawn area, the Farm, the Blacksmith, and the Lumber Mill. I hardly worked on the Gold Mine and I still need to place doodads in the Alliance area. So far it looks good, but I noticed that the Horde starts a tad too close to the Lumber Mill and the Alliance seems isolated away from everything. No worries! I'll get to fixing it whenever I get the time to again.

The terrain's looking good. I just want to get my computer back, so I can start scripting again.

@Other guy who wanted screenshots of hero creation, etc: The current selection is very bad, and we're working on a new one. I actually had a semi-working system that followed WoW's UI design... but with advice from MindWorX I decided it's better to wait for the latest RtC to be released so I can make a more 'practical' one (which would be easier to script too).

Surprise!

A nice little surprise: STORMWIND

Here are a few Stormwind work-in-progress screenshots of the Trade District. There will be a screenshot of the entrance of Stormwind when Hawkwing completes the tile that will be used for that area. As for the roof texture of the buildings, Hawkwing is working on improving it, so disregard the blurriness of it.

Dosen't Arathi Basin have a bit more rounded hills?

Stormwind's canals, you don't have any custom doodads to act as the walls?
Is that gold coin... Seriously the bank!?
We can't go inside the buildings!?
Is their a hair saloon?
Vacant city :bored:

@Bonebreaker - I hope this isn't much of a bother. But do they plan to have the next RtC released anytime soon?

1. Arathi Basin does have more rounded hills, actually. Thanks for pointing that out.

2. We're going to use a different tile for the walls instead of the sidewalk tile, don't worry.

3. Yes, the gold coin shows the bank.

4. No, you cannot enter that many buildings in Wc3:WoW, unfortunately.

5. No hair salons just yet. But we probably will add such a place after you can customize your characters.

6. Well it is being viewed through the editor. No AI bots running around or spawning. :p

1. Eventually, most definitely. It will be a very difficult system to make and I expect it to take a while to create and polish. However, I have a few ideas up my sleeve to ensure that such a project is possible to create; at least for a single player campaign. The Auction House is a very big element of Wc3:WoW. Almost all WoW players have go to or often visit it to purchase and sell items for fast and easy money and gear, rather than having to grind for it all. Of course though, it is entirely your choice as to whether you use the Auction House or not. The game will never require you to go there, but will often be a very useful source for income and purchasing near equipment.

Not all gear will be available in the Auction House, however. Items such as Quest Items (Though there are a few exceptions) and certain types of instance gear sets may not be available, to ensure that our instances and dungeons are run through and are not just set aside all the time in favor of the Auction House. We haven't started on this system yet and I am not sure exactly when would be the best time to do so. There are greater priorities for us to handle first before tackling a complex system like this.

2. At the moment, the playable classes are:
  • Warrior
  • Rogue
  • Shaman
  • Druid
  • Warlock
  • Priest
  • Hunter
Though these classes are playable, only the Warrior, Rogue, Priest, and Warlock have had actual refining done with them. The rest of the classes are hardly started or haven't been started on yet.

Today I started reterraining the Valley of Honor in Orgrimmar. It's looking much better and I would like to thank Grummie for the Orgrimmar terrains he had done, which I used for references. I also did a lot of work on Central Mulgore (Bloodhoof Village mainly) and tried to make it more accurate. It's looking very nice so far. As for Thunder Bluff and the rest of Mulgore and Durotar, I'll keep you all posted. Keep in mind that BoneBreaker will be taking the campaign on Saturday to start fixing bugs, adding systems and features, and much more. That's why I'm trying to get a lot of terrain done lately, so hopefully I'll have a few areas nearly finished by the time he gets it, including Arathi Basin.

The Basin is looking good Craka, it's very close to the real thing. SW is also looking awesome, I'm impressed with your ability to replicate the terrain, I found it very difficult.

Although I'm surprised that your doing BG already. Seems like you should add that later. Focus on the beginning areas, and try and get some playable map going to test. Even if it's just The Valley of Trials, and Orgrimmar.

Paladins are a p^$$y class. Their Divine Shield spell is what makes this so. However, Paladins aren't all that bad and are included in WoW, so we'll make them in our mod.

The Warrior class is not finished. It's just the most finished class we have.

If Paladins, according to some opinions, are indeed weaker than other classes, it would be necessary to balance them (somehow) with the classes in War3:WoW.

Wow, some great work guys. Very sexy terraining Craka.

Also seems like hawkwing has moved up in the world since I last spoke to him, good on you ;)

Just wondering if multiplayer was still on the table of possibilities running on the warSoc engine.

Multiplayer is seemingly going to be much more difficult and time consuming to create for our mod, plus we aren't totally positive if the programs will actually work without us having to delete and recreate EVERYTHING. Hopefully there'll be a way to make our massive mod playable online without having to delete a lot of triggers and terrain that has already been added into the mod. But to get to the point and answer your question, yes, eventually we'll take this project to the next level and make it multiplayer. But in the meantime, it is single player and we will continue to improve A.I. players (AKA: Player-Bots) and other single player aspects of the game.

I'm sorry to be the party crasher, but I doubt we'll ever see multiplayer. I'd love to as much as the next guy, but I just don't see it happening.

Is MidworX still around?

He is still around and says he's still working on RtC/WarSoc, but I personally don't think we can rely on his projects further. We'll need to use an alternative approach; too much time has been lost, just waiting on something we aren't necessarily sure is worth waiting for.

It's not necessarily the amount of time that has passed so far which enforces this, but rather it is StarCraft II we're practically competing with. After StarCraft II is released, WarCraft III will have a lot less attention drawn to it. I won't be one of those people and plan on staying with WarCraft III for a bit longer until much more is done with Wc3:WoW and probably Apocalypse as well.

~Craka_J

I intend to buy Starcraft II within the first few weeks of it's release and begin modding it immediately. I hope to see some Condemned Entertainment mods several months after that. It will take the Sc2 Modding Community awhile to design proper icon layer tools, model editing programs, viewers, and such. Once that is all figured out I should be gone from Warcraft III for the most part.
