i don't know... i'm not trying to improve my modelling skills here, just trying this tracing trick that i hadn't used before on units, i just thought it'd fit the 'colossal" feeliing of it, hmm maybe i'll consider dropping out of the competition though, that way i can replicate it :)

good job on the neck, much better... except (this may sound odd) but he looks to "normal", if you really want him to look muscular and intimidating, you need to give him more pronounced trapezius muscles (the back of the neck), his neck is too skinny. it looks like a regular guy head on a muscular guy body.

like, look at the incredible hulk, the dude is built like a linebacker. If you want that menacing (strong guy) look, he needs all of his upper-body muscles to be pronounced, not just the arms, if only his arms are buff, then he musta been 'batin for like... months

So dudes. UV mapping. I've got loads of separate objects. Should I attach them to each other then UV map the whole thing? Or map each thing separately and attach at the end/

Also, the fingers are cloned off each other. Should I UV map first and duplicate them, then attach to the model, or what?

Other than that, progress is looking ... banana.

mmm... banana.. i like how you have banana and fingers there...very nice. Anywho. yes UV map one and clone it and flip it. it will save you SO much time and so much energy...

PS HOLYFUCKSHITPISS MR.BOB IS BREAKING OUT THE KILT NOW! hes going to lay down some haggis and bag on those pipes until we beg for mercy...

as for my colossus....>.> i havent worked on it since the first day of the contest D: i still only have 1 arm !! GOD im a lazy-fuck :( hope i finish in time

Can I show what I got done so far? :) I have been working on modifying a infernal so much that it could be called near scratch modeling.
(OffTopic: Wow.. so many pages already :) )
It's not much yet, still has other parts to be put together so don't expect it to be epic just yet... I basically only added the particles, it looks better in game then the screen shot.

Slaydon, try Warforger, if you want to make scratch animations, or Oinkerwinkle's Animation Transfer, if you want to add a blizzard one.
Warforger is reaally simple, it's not that easy to animate something with it. This is a the thread about Warforger, in which you can find some help.

You can also try Warshape. Warshape is quite nicer than the ones above, but it just works with non-canonized meshes. (Blizzard-like ones won't work)

But please, don't ask in this thread how to use them.

Number 4 for sure, as I really like how the scales creates a contrast to the red and white scarf (although I find the unwrap on that scarf slightly blurred). It also have some sort of armor feeling to it, making it more soldier/warrior like.

My second choice would be number 3 as its the one with the most Egyptian feel to it. It is also shiny, which I believe creates a gold like layer on the statue, which again would be a likely appearance.

The rest seems too blurred for my liking, although that blur fits the blur on the scarf well.

Misjudged a few bits, but methinks the wrap is clean enough. Actually, it's shit and way too cluttered. HT, I'm never gonna laugh at your wraps again. Seriously, it's like 100 disjointed planes.

EDIT: Disco stick. if i get lazy, it's just gonna be black with glowing eyes and particles.
