(2)Lost Lake

Story

Revenants have sealed themselves within the Water Temple.
Once deemed a mere myth of magical potential, it is now obvious the legends were true.

Will you crash the gates and stop their nefarious actions? Harnessing the temple's energy for yourself?
Or simply destroy your opponent before they do so...

The choice is yours on.. Lost Lake Lake Lake

Layout
Two waxing and waning crescent moon shaped islands border the lake containing the Fountain of Mana.
Two Sea Giants employed by the Revenants guard the gates and the small island used to pull them out.

Each island hosts a Mercenary Camp, an Alchemist Lab, a Tavern, and one Expansion Gold Mine.
The Marketplace and Goblin Merchant are central near the Taverns at the end of each island.

A small 1v1 melee map designed for both competitive play and casual play vs computers.

Tactics
The closest creep camp are the Sea Turtles; the level 4 turtle holds a level one permanent item.
You can follow this up with the Stormreavers (Level 2 Tome) or the Sea Giants (Level 1-2 Item). Either route will grant your hero level two rather quickly.
Or course you can play more aggressively and harass your opponent/steal their green camps if that suits your play-style.

Combining the three green camps mentioned above with the closest orange camp contained in the river will get your hero precisely to level three.

If playing Night Elf you can use your Ancient of War to clear the Lab or the Merc Camp for a fast level two and a potentially clutch consumable item.
Both are slightly difficult and/or slow to clear but well worth going for in my opinion. Especially the Mercenary camp if you can pull that off successfully.

Skeletal Orcs guard the expansions. Led by the level 8 Champion (Greater Potion Drop).
He is very strong but there is plenty of space to pull them and break their damage output.

The Makrua camp (lobster dudes) along the top/bottom hold a strong permanent stat item and possibly a cloak of flames.
The Crab camp in the far corners led by a Markura Deepseer hold a consumable mana item which may come in handy.

The Revenants in the center guard the Mana Fountain and are sealed via destructible gates.
They are also elevated so it is recommended that you pull them with a ranged unit or hero from the tiny island adjacent to the entrances.
Their leader is a level 10 Deeplord Revenant and is no joke. He can cast both Frost Armor and Crushing Wave which hits both land and air units, and hits hard.
Consider units and heroes that can take advantage of the fountain, or an army that counters said approach if you suspect you opponent will be doing so.

Authors Notes
Now I know what you're thinking..
Can't I just get a gang of flying units and cheese the red camp in the middle??

Well.. I've tested this with each race and its not as effective as you might think.
The level 8 Revenant summons Water Elementals that fight back, and more importantly the level 10 will cast Crushing Wave repeatedly, melting your flyers.

It is however quite effective with upgraded and buffed tier 3 flyers like Griffons or Chimera.
But at that point, you can crush just about any creep camp in the game with such an army.

Enjoy the map and as always I'm open to feedback and criticism constructive or otherwise.
Cheers!

ADDITIONAL NECESSARY INFORMATION
  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
  • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.
