Invasion of the Unknown 17.5

Invasion of the Unknown is an original scenario and will continue to receive updates over the next few months. I will be very explicit when the final version has been reached. Once in-game, you can select 1-5 players for the map to adjust itself to make enemy numbers, experience gain, and gold gain fair for the players.

The in-game description goes:
"You are a peasant and wake up in your village home. It's time to start another wonderful day! You start to wonder what work Pacha needs done."

You start the game by completing simple tasks for the village leader, Pacha. During one of your tasks, you encounter Dyluck, who shares his intention to harm the village people. To protect your fellow village people, you rush home to obtain your old equipment that you have not used in a while. Your intentions are to kill Dyluck and then kill anyone else associated with him.

Let me know what you think! Thank you in advance!

You can access all previous (and future) versions here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1te_VIhFmSbttdzVDPmjRVBGKuUI7R3tm?usp=drive_link

Hello, I've tried to play it some 3 times or so... haven't finished it once yet... I'll do my best to finish it today...
I think the 3 classes of heroes that I tried are sooo slow that it is unbearable... I bought boots , still feels slower than a meat wagon...
maybe the other classes are faster?
I tried the first, melee warrior class, the archer and the magewizard...
You start and you have a child and wife and another child, do they serve any purpose, they being on your team and not neutral ally team?
I picked a class and I got the text kill dyluck... who is dyluck? where is he?
maybe give the players a ping in the map so that they know where they have to go...
moving to anywhere is a slooog, the hero moves slower than a meat wagon... it is soo boring , I don't want to explore the village or surroundings if it will take two minutes of walking along a desert onnly to see that the desert was empty... Oh, I found a tree that seems out of place , there may be a secret item or pot or something behind that tree, will I check behind? NO. I'm afraid of moving , waiting 2 minutes for my hero to get there and seeing that there is nothing there and that I lost my time...
I go to pacha, I have to give him lumber.
Ok, I went and got the lumber. I found old boots where I found the lumber... still meat wagon seems faster than this fat bastards... I got the lumber to him... nothing happens... I dropped the lumber and picked it up again... nothing happens
...is the first quest that I completed already busted...?!? is it already...?
no, you have to pass the lumber along to pasha...
Maybe make it so that if the hero gets close and has the requisite lumber in their inventory , the trigger quest complete runs...
or specify that you must give ,pass the lumber along to pasha.
also, what is with the low values of hp and mana... and low values overall... 1 - 1 dmg ... 10 hp ...
I'm sorry but it is so boring and annoying to be suuuuuper slow... maybe give a speed boost to the movespeed of the heroes or spread a couple of speed runes in the village? maybe that would help.
Going to kill dyluck. hmmm, a text said go to the backyard and open the barrel... I already did and I already chose a class. so, that shouldn't run , I think, if , like I did, you explored and got your stuff and class before getting to Dyluck.
Combat! yes! that'll be interesing...
Oh my god! my attacks are even slower than mmeat wagon attacks... also dyluck, the first enemy I encountered almost ended my life... I wasted all my mana on him and almost died figthing... the attacks are soo boring and slow... I noticed that every attack was followed by the sound of sword strike even if the wizard normal right click attacks are priest attacks, energy beam like, not sword like or slashing of anytype... so, maybe, some sound of the attack of the wizard has to be fixed...
also, I see that my house has a new ability. a teleport to my house. why did i not have it until I killed dyluck? it would have made getting the lumber and getting to pasha a bit less of a sloogg...
I see that cool, like a moonwell ability, I can heal and get my mana back. that's good...
While I got healed and back , the bandits men killed some villagers and pacha... should he be invul? and those villagers?
I hope i don't get screwed because the villagers and pacha died...
holy hell, they bashed and killed me...
and the shop guy... shops are usually invul... well, I guess I won't be buying anything anymore...
and I see that my gold is now 0... welll, sh**!!
those two surviving bandits killed evrry fuc***** one...! they went on a rampage! worst than that dyluck guy!
Well... I' ll return to this some time later...
...
the first thing that has got to be updated or fixed is the movespeed... it is a sloooog and boooring as f*** if your char moves so slow...
the two cinematics that I saw, the dyluck intro and the pacha ones are good+.

Sorry for my bad English. I ' ll keep trying in this map.
Don't let me be the killer of your map and your hope. It is not my intention. I really think that you can improve it and make it the map really good!!
Question: How much time did it take you to make the map?

edit: I see now that the fireplaces that spawn once dylucks men come to the village function like moonwells also... maybe tell the players about it, that fire can heal them and restore a part of their mana...
Are the villagers and pacha saveable? they seem to die and almost be willing to die as soon as the bandits go a bit near them, same goes for pacha and the shop guy...
are there any strats I should be trying? any items or quests that I should finish before dyluck and his men?
I tried buying the hp and the mana ... still, no luck... I keep dying...
pacha's acquisition range seems to be at least double that of ordinary villagers... he keeps rushing the bandits and getting killed...
Is it possible to save him if you are the Wizard hero?

Hello, I've tried to play it some 3 times or so... haven't finished it once yet... I'll do my best to finish it today...
Thank you so much for the in-depth review! I will take your review into serious consideration and release an update today!

- The game is in fact beatable. However, it is not meant to be very easy.

- I understand your frustration with the movement speed as the map is quite large. I will make every class a little faster (the Knight is the fastest) but still slow enough for new players to react to what's going on and not just outrun the enemy every time they're in trouble.

- For now, family members are just a fun aesthetic touch, but they are meant to serve a purpose (in a future update).

- Sounds like the version you downloaded had the mistake of the Barrel initially belonging to you, which triggers the "Kill Dyluck" quest. I fixed that in the last update.

- I will adjust how giving Pacha the lumber goes, I understand your frustration with having to give it to him instead of just bringing it to him.

- Every class will feel very weak in the beginning, hence the very low HP and Mana. The in-game explanation for that is that you have been out of that combatant profession for so long that you are learning how to use your weapons, armor, and skills efficiently again. It makes defending the village a lot harder. By level 4 - 6, classes start to feel very potent.

- The shop guy is also meant to be just another member of the village: you want and almost need to protect him. Failing to protect him makes the game much harder for you (there are still more items to buy later in the game).

- Sound sets will be worked on at some point! I commend you for noticing a detail like that.

- The teleport function works as intended: you do not get to teleport until your character feels the need to rush back to their home.

- Version 1.0 took about a week to make. Every update thereafter usually takes between a few hours to a week depending on what I'm working on.

- The fireplaces are meant to be an unknown reward to the player(s): they will heal you without you trying to trigger and serve as structures that the enemy has to get through before reaching especially your shop guy. You can complete the game without the fireplaces, but the consequence is that it will be very hard to fight off the enemy without the fireplaces.

Strats:

- Most classes specialize in something specific. It sounds like you are playing in singleplayer mode, so you should try a class that is meant to be independent and not a support. Swordsman, Ranger, Knight, Samurai, Ninja, and Demon would be the classes to try to solo the map. The Zombie never dies, so you will theoretically guarantee a win if you use him.

- In multiplayer games, support classes start to shine such as the Wizard, Guardian, Cowboy, Pirate, Priest, Illusionist, Scavenger, Demolitionist, and Necromancer. The game is still winnable with those classes in singleplayer, though.

- Defending the Village: Sometimes, potions are a lot more effective than permanent items. Try using a bunch of health potions in conjunction with fireplaces in order to defend the village a lot easier. Using skills can be tempting, but they might drain the fireplaces too quickly. Try relying on your basic attacks so you have more health to tank damage.

- When you reach Meet the Marauders, don't feel discouraged! Keep nibbling away at their health, they are meant to be the second huge obstacle (the first being defending the village) in the game before something BIG happens!

Can't wait to hear your thoughts when you beat the game! Good luck!

I'm playing single player. I forgot to say that in my first post about the map.
  • update seems to give a small boost to movespeed. that's good+.
  • The game is in fact beatable. have you tried it in single player mode? I tried 4 times and I could only beat dyluck and his men once without having pasha killed or shop guy killed or both killed... I haven't been able to go past them more than once out of 4 times that I've tried. they seem too fast and strong, they kill the villagers to quickly and get to pacha very quickly... I' ll try to post a video...
  • For now, family members are just a fun aesthetic touch, but they are meant to serve a purpose (in a future update).
good. could be fun+.
- Sounds like the version you downloaded had the mistake of the Barrel initially belonging to you, which triggers the "Kill Dyluck" quest. I fixed that in the last update.
you took care of that. good +.
- I will adjust how giving Pacha the lumber goes, I understand your frustration with having to give it to him instead of just bringing it to him.
hmmm, it still works as before, nothing happens , until you give, pass along the lumber to pasha.

ok, I wish I could get past the first dang boss... so I could see if they get more powerful...
- The shop guy is also meant to be just another member of the village: you want and almost need to protect him. Failing to protect him makes the game much harder for you (there are still more items to buy later in the game).
ok.
- Sound sets will be worked on at some point! I commend you for noticing a detail like that.
yes, it is a detail. nothing too important , I just wanted to point that out bcuz with every arrow of beam like attack it felt out of place. good that you 'll work on that detail +.
- The teleport function works as intended: you do not get to teleport until your character feels the need to rush back to their home.
OK. what about spreading one or two runes of speed (specially around the corridor leading to the forest where you get the lumber and in the lumber area) so that the beginning of the game is a lil quicker. dunno, maybe it is a good idea, last time I float the idea...
- Version 1.0 took about a week to make. Every update thereafter usually takes between a few hours to a week depending on what I'm working on.
only one week! well , congrats, my map making skills are too low compared to yours, im a total newb. but i'd like to learn. it always seemed interesting and challenging. do you only use the GUI triggers thing or do you use the (as I undestand it) more advanced JASS or other scripts?

- The fireplaces are meant to be an unknown reward to the player(s): they will heal you without you trying to trigger and serve as structures that the enemy has to get through before reaching especially your shop guy. You can complete the game without the fireplaces, but the consequence is that it will be very hard to fight off the enemy without the fireplaces.
ok.

Try relying on your basic attacks so you have more health to tank damage.
can you get to pasha before he is killed by dyluck? I get the quest and he rushes to the center of the village to kill pasha... I use the tp ability and have the boots on, still he takes care of pasha very quickly , and I can't get to him before he does... not to mention that it would seem that it is imposible if for any reason you decide NOT to use the tp and rush rush rush to your old belongings...

- When you reach Meet the Marauders, don't feel discouraged! Keep nibbling away at their health, they are meant to be the second huge obstacle (the first being defending the village) in the game before something BIG happens!
intriguing. that something big. mystery! don't tell me! I'll try to get past and go forward!
edit: I wanted to post a minute video taken with my cell phone but I can't. tried to attach the file some 3 times. it loads but when i post that , the post is empty... if anyone know what is happenenigning tell me how I can post this video in here, thx...

it seems that it takes dyluck some 33 seconds to get to pasha and 1 or 2 blows to kill him while it takes some 50 seconds to go to your belongings and back to the place where pasha is, more than enough time for dyluck to kill him. and this is even if you tp , go to your belongings , DROP THE OLD BOOTS TO THE GROUND SO THAT THEY DON’T DISAPPEAR WHEN your HERO GETS THE CLASS CHANGE. CLASS CHANGE PICK UP THE BOOTS and rush to dyluck . even if dyluck has to kill one fireplace and some peasants that dont run like cowards...

I'm playing single player. I forgot to say that in my first post about the map.
If you like, I can share a video of how I get through the first part.

- Saving Pacha is not required. It is sad that he dies, but it is not required that he lives. Saving the shop guy is not required either, but I personally would prioritize saving him above anyone else.

- The Lumber mechanic has not been changed yet; you can expect that in the next update.

- Some classes become very strong even at level 2 (try the Necromancer!). If you get past the first part, he kind of breezes past the mid-section of the game. He has a hard time in early-game, though.

- Sound sets will be at least started on in the next update.

- Runes of speed seem like a great idea! I'll implement either that or some similar mechanic to get the first quest done quicker.

- I only use the built-in trigger functions. I haven't run into any issues that require getting into JASS.

- Maybe the Knight can save Pacha since he is much faster than the other classes. I personally have gotten close to saving Pacha but never successfully. As stated above, it is not required to save Pacha.

I appreciate your reviews!

Because Pacha is the one that gave the first quest I thought that saving him was a must. how else would he give further quests...? rewards for quest completed... my bad... I was so intent on having him not die that I didn't notice that rescueing him is not required... I had it stuck in my head...
I got to the marauders I killed the one guarding the gate and opened th gate. how do you kill ronan and his soldiers? his soldiers are extremely powerful alone, and ronan is extremely powerful too. I tried luring him so that he is alone, still it seems impossible to kill him...
I killed the elite soldiers at the most right, the elite trio... I'm level 4 ... it seems like im going to kill someone that i shouldnt this early in the game. I explored around and there is noone , that i can find , that is weak so that i can klil him and get exp and lvls... I'm playing the knight...
edit: oh, nvm, a cinematic plays and he is not my enemy anymore, furthermore, he gave me some units...
I'm getting some free archers... I'm almost sure that some are changing teams and I can't control them anymore, is that working as intended?
would you consider lowering the hp of destructibles to 1? I having to strike a destructible like 5 times only to see that there was no secret item or unit to be gained from doing that... there's a lot of crates, some cages and rock chunks, dang rock chunks that have some resistance to being smashed and there is no reward for doing any of this work, thx.
I gave lothar's amulet to ronan (not lothar) and the cinematic run anyways, is that intended?
I noticed that quests get updated and you don't get a notice. I got the shimmering quest thing , yes. but I didn't get the "Quest Update" text and sound that is characterical of new quests and quest updates those are so nice in the campaign and custom maps. maybe you could implement those.
I seem to have misplaced the key that is used to open the eastern gate... where could that be...? I can't find it...
edit: found it.
also would you consider having a teleport for your troops as well as your hero? maybe make it a separate teleport. one for your hero and one for your troops, in the house...? the recall ability...
hmmmmmmmm, OK, I seem to be stuck again. The new commander , I forgot his name , was it ronan lancelot or someone other...? ok, he is ammassing forces and I have to kill XyZZy the red infernal, the judge, I guess I have to lure him into the enormous ammassing forces right? I can't hope to fight him head on and win. he's got 19k hp and a strong attack.
he is miles away from the allied army and I can't get him to go that far, I died already trying to fight him... I couldn't even scratch him... at most, he must have lost 500 hp...
oh, and would you consider adding a floating text to shops? I'm so far into the game and I totally missed the shop near the commanders and the one in the church like structure, thx. or a ping or a signpost.
oh, I think my allies who are not playing, I'm in single player mode. only 1 player, I think my blue, teal and orangge allies are getting there reinforcement archers, marauders and swordsmen even if they are not playing. maybe that should be off when those players aren't playing, like is my case. im only RED and no other player is playing. seriously, this is getting out of hand...
edit: well, after using the ult 10 times, and going back to heal and using the ult , I finally killed the judge... is this how this fight is supposed to go?
I think I must have missed a spiked trap or an upgrade to your periodicall units or something ... or an engineering upgrade for the knight hero bevause this fight was a slooog ... also, I seem to no longer get periodical units... and my allies, blue, orange, etc, are getting higher entity (the voidwalker unit) and I haven't got squat... not one... those would have helped... maybe im missing a powa item... the considerable damage comes from my ult which has a more than 100 s cooldown... my normal right clicks do squat, my sorta warstomp does squat... my self heal does squat and is slow to cast... the movespeed charge is ok for travelling... the mana shield is ok but my normal attacks do next to nothing so why would i want to stay in the fight...?
I must have missed some OP thing, like an upgrade or a unique item...
I must have died like 50 times already... while we are talking about dying, would you consider not taking every piece of gold and reputation on death...? placing a temporary ward so that the player can see where they died and having some vision of the surrounding area and the enemies lurking there...?
OK, now I have to kill what looks like the final boss... and it's got crazy hp... aw man, this is going to take a while... again the strat of using the ult and going back, I suppose...
OK, he summons infernals that stun and are superpowerful... and the lord possible final boss guy is incredibly powerful and he is going to kill the commander and should he die, it's instant lose... hmmmm

I used whosyourdaddy and it still took me a couple of blows to kill that final boss... without it, it would have been imposible, I fear... I saw the final cinematic, nicely done+.
when it was all over, I started getting the voidwalker guys that my nonexistent allies, orange, teal , etc, were getting... it wouldn't have mattered, the final boss would have rampaged through, nontheless, even if I had ammassed 20 of those voidwalker guys and archers and swordsmen and tanks...
I may have missed some items and or upgrades , but , DAMN...
Maybe if I play a different class, it will be easier...? I played through as the Knight... dunno... I'll try maybe tomorrow...
Anyways, nice map. It must have taken a lot of effort.
the cinematics with custom audio were very good+

It sounds like you got super close to finishing it on your own, great job!

- Great job on getting past the Marauders! It's meant to look like a very daunting task but isn't, really.

- I intend to add smart AI allies so the troops spawning for your allies will eventually know where to go to help you complete your quests. However, they shouldn't be spawning in singleplayer, unless using the greedisgood cheat.

- I'll adjust the destructibles' health but not so that they are always 1 hit, it's supposed to be some tradeoff between time and the chance for a free item.

- Giving the Amulet to other allies is a protection layer against the player accidentally giving the item to them and then having to kill them to retrieve the item again. This will be adjusted so that the amulet must reach Lancelot or Ronan.

- Proper quest updates will be fixed on the next update!

- You can set your home's rally point so that newly spawned troops will travel to that point. Some heroes are able to teleport their troops, so I don't intend on making that a function for everyone.

- The difficulty of fighting XyZZy depends a lot on which hero you picked, the items you have, and your reputation. Particularly high entities and blast machines help a lot in the fight. Marauders, Archers, and Swordsmen at that point serve as meat shields to prevent XyZZy from targeting you so you can keep dealing damage. See the next few bullets, they might make your next fight a lot easier.

- While dying does not end the game for the players, it still has severe consequences that can make the game a lot harder than it really is. You lose all your gold and 500 reputation per death. Avoid dying and you will have a lot more gold and stronger troops to help you. I will change the gold penalty to half of your gold to be more forgiving.

- If you don't have troops, the Marauders will keep sending troops to fight XyZZy, time your engagements with when there is a good amount of other troops so you can keep dealing damage without taking the bulk of the damage.

- Artifacts can be crafted, not just bought; just read their tooltips in the shops. On top of being a very strong item, they also free up space for other items (like other artifacts or potions). When you find out how to craft artifacts, remember that you can also craft those artifacts into an even stronger item.

You should be able to beat the game with any class aside from the priest. To me, it sounds like the high number of deaths made the game very, very hard for you. Try again without dying as much and you should have a lot more gold and a lot more troops that make the game a whole lot easier.

Thank you for your positive remarks! The game did take a lot of effort, but I'll keep updating it to improve the players' experience. I hope your next game goes very smoothly! After killing the final boss, there is still something extra to do, so keep an eye out for it!

I wasnt able to craft any item. I didn't find a forge or a blacksmith anywhere.
I did notice some items that the shops sell that are named something like, "gloves, crown, blue, red..." ( etc) or something like that... I bought those items and those items didnt merge into 1 special item... maybe that is why i have been having such a hard time defeating enemies or standing up to them...
today I tried again the wizard. I got to the final boss... I had more than 10 tanks, marauders, archers, swordsmen, I used my ult , the elementals, familiars and tornado summon and had like 100 or so of my allies troops and towers waiting for him... they all melted , not only does the boss has lots of armor and does a lot of dmg, he summons and even his summons melt away my troops and my allies troops...some of my troops got gems and other items too ... didnt do a g** damn thing... I got the commander 5 red hp gems, cuz i know he kinda sucks and i didnt want him to die within 5 seconds... still he died within 10... I had pots, the red hp gem, the circlet item and whatnot, evertything bought from the final shop that is inside the church like structure that is sorta near the xyxxyx judge infernal... I got destroyed... didnt have a chance... neither did my allies nor the commander...
I used whosyourdaddy. I killed him and this time , I entered the portal. It led me to an area where Ryu and other characters like Robin Hood where standing in front of those doodad statues of outland (i think it is an outland doodad)... nothing to do there , I guess, it is something that is under develeopment... not completed yet ... after some time, maybe under a minute, I got tped to the real final boss... super imposible, even with the help of the unique ring item... i couldnt even get close to the final boss, I got murdered by the judge red infernal guy... I whosyourdaddy it and killed all the enems in my path...

I was able to buy some of those items that cost reputation (wood resource) but i wasnt able to craft those or merge items into those... dunno what happened or how to do it...
also, this time around, I noticed that the trio of uniques that are to the right of the map, that sano guy and the archer and the other one... I didnt got the quest to kill them , instead they joined me... they suck, but they did join and provide meatshield for me for some time... was that quest changed or does that quest change depending on the hero class you chose?
the time i fought them i was the knight and now that i was the wizard they allied with me. has that got anything to do with that?
or is it that you changed it in the new version of the map?
I got some white floating texts that saied something about a Red Rescuer or a Red Hero or something of the sort. I didnt get a quest or anythung... I couldnt understand really what was up with that thing... am I the Red Rescuer or a Red Hero?
also, would you consider stating in the spells the range of the spells? the fire breath i noticed sometimes that couldnt hit some enemies even if the animating did appear to reach those enemies... and the starfall, it did happen to me that i casted starfall to far from the enemy once or twice...
oh and i noticed that the tornado summon duplicates, (maybe with hits , like the TFT's Firelord lavaspawns) could you consider giving that info in the summon spell info box? so that we know. that could be useful...
another of my nitpicks, the worst of all of them, maybe, the fire breath spell is called fireball. you cast it and there is no fireball involved. maybe call it firebreath or change the animation to several fireballs as it is an AOE spell . or
anyways, nice map.
oh, and I don't think I have mentioned it earlier, I will now, those custom models are the bomb.

I wasnt able to craft any item. I didn't find a forge or a blacksmith anywhere.
- Try emptying your inventory, and purchasing the items in the order that they are mentioned in the artifact tooltip. Again, remember that after acquiring all artifacts, you are still able to combine them into an even stronger item.

- Soloing as the wizard can be a little more difficult since he is more of a support type, meant to deal a lot of damage but to multiple enemies, not to a single target. This makes killing the final boss very difficult, but it becomes very doable with enough artifacts.

- When entering the portal, there should be an empty slot where your hero belongs. Stepping into that rune teleports you to the final boss.

- The alternate timeline is meant to be extremely difficult even compared to the first time you face the final boss. It requires a lot more strategy in order to challenge teams of even 5 players.

- The elite trio quest adjusts according to whether you killed them or not. It is not based off of which class you choose.

- The Red Rescuer text is a signal of you now receiving troops and when you start receiving better troops such as Marauders, Blast Machines, or High Entities. This is so that teams of multiple people know who has a good reputation. The name is based off of the color you play as. There is the Red Rescuer, Blue Bravery, Yellow Yin-Yang, Orange Overcomer, and Green Guard.

- I may or may not include range and cooldown descriptions for spells. It'll take many hours to adjust it for all the spells so it's on the back burner for now.

- No custom models were made by me; they were created by those accredited in the main post.

Do keep in mind that this game was not made solely for singleplayer mode. A lot of the difficulties you are facing is due to the fact that you don't have allies to support you. During my tests with my friends, I've found out that it is so important having someone else watch your back such as healing you, stunning enemies so you can escape, taunting enemies to take attention away from you, and sharing potions when someone's in a pinch. Imagine if you were the Wizard, casting your AOE spells and killing the many, weaker troops while I was the Samurai or some other class that specializes in killing single targets so I could focus on the final boss. We could also have a Priest that heals us over the course of the entire battle. We may have a Guardian to tank all the damage especially from the stronger bosses. And for our 5th member, maybe a Pirate that helps generate more gold and thus better items for the entire team. The game was meant to be played in that manner.

Still, I'm very glad you've played the map multiple times and I'll keep continuing to update over the next few months.

If you want to see how far the map has come along, try playing version 1.0 and see how much it's changed! The link to it and all other versions is in the main post.

- Try emptying your inventory, and purchasing the items in the order that they are mentioned in the artifact tooltip. Again, remember that after acquiring all artifacts, you are still able to combine them into an even stronger item.
Yup, it worked. I suggest making the merging of items easier/faster... in dota , eota , footman frenzy games and other custom games the most used systems for recipes or merging items dont take into account inventory slot number 1 or 4 or 6, items only take into account if the hero is manipulating said items... arrainging the items into the correct slots is boring and a slog... I'm sure it is quite easy.
- Soloing as the wizard can be a little more difficult since he is more of a support type, meant to deal a lot of damage but to multiple enemies, not to a single target. This makes killing the final boss very difficult, but it becomes very doable with enough artifacts.
yes. today I tried playing as the ninja , single player and the difference is noticeable. ninja is easier and faster, i'd say... amd being fast is always cool and fun.
- When entering the portal, there should be an empty slot where your hero belongs. Stepping into that rune teleports you to the final boss.
ok.
The alternate timeline is meant to be extremely difficult even compared to the first time you face the final boss. It requires a lot more strategy in order to challenge teams of even 5 players.
yes. i figured. maybe you could add a trigger that checks, if you clicked on the only one player is playiong the game button , when you -start the game... handicap the last boss a bit... same for if only two players button is pressed and so on...
- The elite trio quest adjusts according to whether you killed them or not. It is not based off of which class you choose.
oh, ok .
I want to try that. next time I play solo i ll go with green or some colour othjer than red. very nice touch.
- I may or may not include range and cooldown descriptions for spells. It'll take many hours to adjust it for all the spells so it's on the back burner for now
yeah, I realise that will be intensive and labourious task with not much reward. ok.
- No custom models were made by me; they were created by those accredited in the main post.
well, you chose them out of thousands out there, you made all good choices.
The game was meant to be played in that manner.
note taken. I havent tried multi player ,yet. but will do in the future!
Still, I'm very glad you've played the map multiple times and I'll keep continuing to update over the next few months.
your perseverance in updating the map is , I think, a very good quality. some other map maker could fell discouraged or think meh, I realeased the map, and I wont change a thing on it... I think it is perfect the way it is. so , congrats for sticking to changing and adding stuff to your map!
If you want to see how far the map has come along, try playing version 1.0 and see how much it's changed! The link to it and all other versions is in the main post.
hmmmm, Im sure it has come a long way. I prefer playing the latest versions. :)

I always like custom audio in cinematics and custom sounds in maps, I believe they are somewhat of a hassle to put in the game but it is interesting and fun.

is pacha's audio taken from somewhere in particular? like from another game? or a movie or something?
or is it you or an AI generated thing?

Great work and thanks for answering and continueing developing the map!

  1. The camera should be where the player's units are at the start.
  2. Why the need to choose the number of players when it can be detected via triggers? Can 1 player play as more players or does choosing more players mean higher difficulty?
  3. Dyluck killed Pacha before going to him.
  4. Ninja's icon looks green on game pause/F10. It wasn't imported properly. No DISBTN.
  5. Game's quite slow paced. A lot of retreating to wait for healing and mana regen to come back to shoot the enemy.
  6. Terrain is somewhat nice, like in very old games. I think, however, it could be improved.
  7. What are the support columns supposed to represent in the village square, gallows?
  8. My Treasure has the same icon as the Pirate and the gold research. Could use more custom stuff. Also, it should look passive. Could make it so with: Button Manager v1.8.2
  9. Abilities have no visible hotkeys. Tried QWERT and it works for those down but couldn't find the keys for the abilities near Patrol. Oh, OK it was F.
  10. Would have been nice to be sort of open world rather than linear.
  11. The next few quests after the one with Dyluck are quite simple and the same without scripted events which gave flavour like how Dyluck attacked the village and you felt some responsibility to protect the villagers.
  12. Why are the elite hostiles so huge? Also with Dyluck. Would be nice to keep it a bit realistic. OK, make the bosses bigger but not giants, IMO.
  13. There's a lot of bland text for quests but no real story, sadly. Well, from the marauders onward, it begins to show.
  14. After killing the elites I went a bit further and suddenly an archer joined my party? It feels out of place? Then way more to the north as I went, I got a swordsman. It's weird that you also have to search in the village where they randomly appear. Should be near your house or something for proper organization.
  15. Marauders left of the Ancient Being join you when getting near them without any context or chat. Nothing happens after killing the being. Also, you were supposed to be enemies with the marauders? I guess I should have first gone through their base to get the ancient being related quest? I don't know but you can get to the dark figure before that if you want.
  16. For some reason the swordsman I got in the village moves by himself like crazy there.
  17. Allied non-player controlled peasants are moved after the talk with the marauder knights, in front of them.
  18. Unit joining the group messages on screen during the scene with Lancelot and Ronan.
  19. Could use custom icons or at least varied colours for the upgraded items like boots, and the others.
  20. You can go through the library shelves. Could use some pathing blockers there.
  21. Meet the Marauders didn't complete for some reason. I saved Lothar though.
  22. Hero selected during the scene after saving him.
  23. Kind of annoying you have to waste an inventory slot for the keys. Could make them variables and the gates to automatically open when getting near or add some item carrier.
  24. Funny thing about the map's name is that the invasion feels like it's done by the players and marauders than some enemy of them xD
  25. Seems the hero is selected in most cinematic scenes.
  26. Tough keeping the commander alive. Healing is not easy when you have to heal yourself as well and he just goes on and on.
  27. Once you get into the portal you can't get out. I thought you might be able to change into one of those or something. Oh, OK, there was an empty circle to go through.
  28. Problem is that level 10 is max so you don't become stronger going through the last part of the siege on the entities.
  29. So, didn't have a chance to speak to the commander after killing the universal tree since I entered the portal.
An OKish old school RPG which could definitely use some more gameplay variety and enhancements.

Approved.

ADDITIONAL NECESSARY INFORMATION
  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
  • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.
