Defend of the Core- Map Description​

Overview:Defend of the Core is a fast-paced MOBA-style map designed for 10 players, divided into two teams of five. The objective is to destroy the enemy core. Inspired by Heroes of the Storm and Dota 2, this map introduces familiar mechanics.

Key Features:

  • 29 Selectable Heroes: Choose from a diverse roster of 29 heroes, each with Semi-Vanilla and rebalanced abilities.
  • Winning Condition: The game is won by the team that successfully destroys the enemy core.
  • Runes: Strategic runes respawn every 2 minutes, providing various buffs and advantages.
  • Item Build: From the stores you can access various basic items, in the higher tier ones, you can access the recipes to improve your artifacts
  • Couriers: Each team has couriers to assist in item delivery. If a courier dies, it respawns after 30 seconds.
  • Kill Streaks:Players can achieve kill streaks, each offering different bonuses (Base on Dota2 Killstreak system) :
    • Killing Spree: 3 kills without dying.
    • Dominating: 4 kills without dying.
    • Mega Kill: 5 kills without dying.
    • Unstoppable: 6 kills without dying.
    • Wicked Sick: 7 kills without dying.
    • Monster Kill: 8 kills without dying.
    • Godlike: 9 kills without dying.
    • Beyond Godlike: 10 or more kills without dying.
Mechanics:

  • Hero Selection: Heroes are chosen through taverns at the start of the game.
  • Random Hero Assignment: If a player fails to pick a hero before the countdown ends, a random available hero is assigned.
Learning and Development:This map was created as a learning project to understand and implement advanced map-making techniques. It incorporates various mechanics inspired by other popular MOBAs to provide a comprehensive and enjoyable gameplay experience.

- Ancient of Death: His death is announced globally. Upon death he drops the Heart of Immortality, which brings the fallen hero back to life with 100% health and mana, and has one use. The item will revert to the Ancient if not used while the Ancient is on cooldown.
- Cheese: When killing an Ancient for the second time, in addition to the main item, it will drop Cheese, which restores 2500 health points and 1500 mana points instantly, like the other items. If not used during the Ancient's cooldown, it will return to it.
- The amount of health per second regenerated by Shrines is increased from: 0.020s to 0.080s.

Almost all vanilla heroes have had their abilities changed, as well as having their abilities replaced with more useful ones.

: This temperamental and narcissistic Alliance General joins as a hero of strength and a resilient assassin. Start with your charge or prevent them from escaping with Shockwave, and finish off your enemy with Inner Rage.

- Belt of Magic Resistance: Grants +10 strength and +25 damage, provides magical invulnerability for 9 seconds.
- Arcane Greaves: Increases intelligence by 6, +30 speed and +3 damage, instantly regenerates mana by 350 in an area.
- Conjurer's Orb: Increases intelligence by 35 and reduces magic damage by 15%, creates a shield of electric orbs that on contact cause 150 damage and lasts 15 seconds.
- Crown of the Grandmaster: Grants +7 to all attributes, and magic resistance by 5%, temporarily increases armor by 10 and life regeneration by 5.
- Dagger of Silence: Increases agility by 25 and attack speed by 10%, silences a targeted area for 3 seconds.
- Heavy Boots: Increases strength by 12, speed by 25 and life regeneration by 2, increases attack speed by 50% at the cost of losing 4.5 health every second for 15 seconds.
- Imperial Helmet: Grants +10 to all attributes, 15 to speed and magic resistance by 10%, creates a shield around the hero that blocks a total of 250 damage, lasts 20 seconds.
- Wind Boots: Increases agility by 10, speed by 25 and 10% evasion, provides temporary speed by 50 points for 15 seconds.

- Changed map dimensions to center it on the battlefield.
- Changed the hero selection system to a more optimal one.
- Fixed the experience system.
- Now when heroes kill a creep, they will give experience distributed to nearby allied heroes.

- Fixed multiple BTN, PAS, DISBTN, DISPAS, MDX and other models that were corrupted in the previous version.

- Vorlus The Voidwatcher: Powerful voidwalker of the void, he joins the battlefield as a stamina caster, with high damage and range abilities.

ADDITIONAL NECESSARY INFORMATION
  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
  • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.
