A World of Warcraft PvP Experience in Warcraft III Reforged


Overview​

Arathi Basin is a competitive 12v12 battleground map that recreates the iconic World of Warcraft PvP experience within Warcraft III Reforged. Fight for control over five strategic resource points in an intense territory control battle where tactical positioning, teamwork, and hero progression determine the victor.


Objective​

Dominate the battlefield by controlling resource nodes and be the first team to reach 1,500 resources!

The more bases your team controls, the faster you accumulate resources toward victory. Control the majority of bases to overwhelm your opponents, or defend strategically and outlast them.


The Battleground

Five Strategic Bases:

  • Blacksmith - Central location, key to map control
  • Stables - Alliance starting base
  • Farm - Horde starting base
  • Mines - Northern control point
  • Lumber Mill - Southern high ground advantage

Two-Phase Capture System:

  1. Channeling Phase (8 seconds) - Cast an ability on the flag to initiate capture
  2. Zone Control Phase(~100 seconds) - Maintain presence in the capture zone to complete the takeover
    • Progress increases when only your team is in the zone
    • Progress pauses when both teams contest
    • Progress reverses when enemies outnumber you
Dynamic Capture Progress Display: Real-time percentage indicators show capture progress above each flag.


Core Features

Hero Progression System

  • Gain experience and gold every 10 seconds based on controlled bases
  • Bonus 100 XP for your entire team when capturing a base
  • Level up to increase stats AND ability scaling (WoW-style progression)
  • No ability points - all abilities start learned and scale with hero level

Smart Respawn System

  • 30-second respawn timer with countdown notifications
  • Resurrect at the closest controlled graveyard to your death location
  • Falls back to starting base if no graveyards are controlled
  • Strategic graveyard control reduces travel time and maintains pressure

Victory Conditions

  • Primary: First team to accumulate 1,500 resources
  • Strategy: Control 3+ bases for consistent resource advantage
  • Comeback Potential: Steal enemy bases to halt their progress and accelerate yours

  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
  • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.

I was indeed working on new items. In fact, there's a varied pool. The problem is, I never figured out how to implement them. I added the shops so it wouldn't be inconvenient to have to run around to buy things, and they're just temporary until I find a shop and inventory system that I'm happy with. Anyway, thanks for the review! I hope to have an update this week where I find at least a way to offer the new items more directly, instead of having them scattered in shops all over the map.

The terrain was really great. Seems like there are no enemies or creeps besides other players. I tryed to play this alone.
You can play against the AI; just add computers to the slots to activate it. It's a bit dim, but at least you're not alone.
