Path to Lost Lordaeron

This bundle is marked as useful / simple. Simplicity is bliss, low effort and/or may contain minor bugs.
Path to Lost Lordaeron follows the story of captain Aaron Bathurst, once a pirate captain, now a ragged survivor trying to find a new home among the ruins of his land. This is the first of several planned story maps where you take control of Bathurst and follow him as he explores Lordaeron many decades after the events of Warcraft 3. Note that I am only very loosely following established canon and am choosing to disregard most everything that happens after the first couple WoW expansions.

This is not a base-building map, you have only a limited number of units to rescue/hire, so take care of them.

This is an exploration-focused map, so while there is plenty of combat, its designed primarily around exploring the map. Not every fight you encounter may be winnable for you (at least at first), so don't feel reluctant to run away and find some other avenue.

Bear in mind this is a work in process, so keep an eye out for a new edition coming Soon™.

  7. There is no level jumping requirement for abilities. One can learn the same spell for each gained level.
  8. Draenei here and under the title of Bandit Militia?
  9. A Forest Troll Hunt in a Gnoll village/encampment?
  10. If you decide to make a run for it to the north instead of to the west, you find villagers that are being teleported with no concrete reason. It seems they're being transported to that village you're supposed to get to (in the west?).
  11. Raise Wraith should have autocast borders. Can be done with: Button Manager v1.8.2
  12. Quest Villagers should be invulnerable or considered allied as Immolation damages and might kill them.
  13. Can finish the rescuing villagers quest without even getting it.
Overall, in this condition and as a standalone map, rather simplistic, I'm afraid. Mostly it's killing units/neutral camps on the map.
It might be a start of a nice adventure but not yet.

Simple.

ADDITIONAL NECESSARY INFORMATION
  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
  • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.

Thanks for the feedback, I will fix the problems you mentioned. I don't know why villagers are being teleported before the quest is triggered, I intended the map to have a sort of sequence-break hidden route by going north past the sasquatch but I admit that was not well implemented.

I honestly haven't tried my hand at cinematics yet but feel like it doesn't necessarily need one. I'll put the next version in map development.

Holy necromancer is a kind of weird idea, that's the point, but making the hero a pirate as well, okay I admit that may have been throwing too many things at the wall.

As you can tell I'm a rank amateur, this is my second map ever but I learned a lot making it even so.

When will be out the new edition?
