What are your top 5 favorite games?
Here are mine!
I'm looking for games I haven't heard about, that is the reason I'm asking for games you like, you're pretty much giving me names of games, and if I find a game I've never heard of, I'll do more research on it and get it if I feel I that it would entertain me. +Rep to anyone who knows some good games which I don't! (I THINK I have every good game (to me) in the world that's currently out.. Yes I do have a life except Its just me, I have to get whats good and new :hohum:)

Oh yes and... in the Dislike section, #1 is the one you hate the most, #5 is just one you dislike.

Like:
1. Final Fantasy XIII (13) [Added 27/4/10]
2. Oblivion (Only on PC because of the mods)
3. Heavy Rain
4. Age of Empires III
5. The Sims 3

Dislike:
1. Call of Duty 6 - Modern Warfare 2 (To repetitive and overrated, sorry fanboys.)
2. Borderlands (Gets BORING after a while + no one plays multiplayer anymore)
3. Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 (Buggy)
4. Aion (Took over WoW )
5. Avatar: The Game (Repetitive, however I do like the play in 3d feature, that makes you forget all about it being repetitive)

List changed 29/04/10

This thread would belong in the general gaming forum.

Anyway, to answer your question:

1. Crysis/ Crysis Warhead
2. Dragon Quest VIII
3. Oblivion
4. Dragon Age Origins
5. World of Warcraft

I don't really dislike any of my games, because I only buy what game reviewers recommend. Though I was that annoyed by the combat system in Gothic 3, that I only played it one hour, and then I never touched it again.

Haha sorry I put it in the wrong section.. hmm I've heard of all those games xD

Except for Dragon Quest.. it doesn't look very appealing to me  Looks like it uses the same engine as grandia and stuff :p

This is probably the 100th time I list games that I like and dislike on this forum.. bet none of them are equal. I'll stick to games I own this time though.. no Halo bashing.

+ Final Fantasy Series (hard to pick a favourite, but VII if any)
+ Icewind Dale (original, expansion and sequel)
+ Unreal Tournament (because bulky is a quality)
+ Tibia MMORPG (hell yeah it beats WoW)
+ WarCraft III (must've been a reason I've wasted thousands of hours playing it)
++ Classics: (Open) Transport Tycoon, Strength & Honour, Rise of Nations, Morrowind, Red Alert 2, Quake, Heroes of Might & Magic

(Note: these are the worst games that I own, they're not necessarily bad, just worse than my average game)
- Knights of the Temple: Infernal Crusade (it's a thing in-between Morrowind and Oblivion with slightly different/worse mechanics)
- Demigod (let's just say I hoped for a lot more, they were, after all, challenging DotA)
- Spore (albeit entertaining for a while, it gets boring quick and the only variation is your monster)
- Oblivion (decent graphics and a vast open world isn't enough)
- Knights of the Old Republic 2 (the first one was decent, the second was disappointing)

I can't put 'em in order but...

Games I love:

Oblivion
I simply love it, all mods and stuff, I can make it whatever I want.

World of Warcraft
I played it for four years but finally got rid of it. But when that much of time is spent on one game, it must be good...

Dragon Age: Origins & Awakening
Really good rpg, good dialogue and gameplay. And of course very good expansion ( Awakening ). I simply love it.

Warcraft 3, RoC & TFT
Only because of modding, 'nuff said.

Morrowind
Never modded that game, but I just kept playing and playing it. It's really wonderful game.

Fun is good.

You had fun.

WoW was useful.

TBH, anything that is a good experience in life is not useless, whether you regret it or not.

Adding to Twisted's statement; regretting your actions, however, is useless. There's nothing you can do about it.

You mean the tech demo? Yeah I did and I found it to be pretty good. However, do not get me wrong. I do not dislike Fallout 3 because it's Fallout in First Person. I'm all ok for Fallout of third person, first person or isometric. My problem with Fallout 3 however are the bugs, the bad gameplay and the horrible writing. Also I dislike Bethesda's animations and character models.

Well seriosly , i hate Fallout 3 too but its just cause the name... if it had another name it would be okay , but with the name Fallout there it is not an regular fallout game but a total remake...

What i love on Fallout 2 and 1 is the extreme realistic role play... if you get a quest they tell you just ask in that city for more informations and etc. but in fallout 3 you are following an arrow at the compas , and you need kill in f3 , in f2 you can win the whole game without a kill...
The thing with the arrow did that i done the game in 2 days , in Fallout 2 i never found the G.E.C.K , till now when i played it again.

Yeah, I do enjoy the whole finding out what you're actually supposed to do, where you're supposed to go, or generally finding out information on your own aspect of old RPGs. I sorta dislike the guided function in modern RPGs, take for example the compass arrow in Fallout 3. I also hated how the compass in Fallout 3 showed enemy locations.

I think I've never actually played one of these RPGs - besides, what's the difference between pressing a button and bringing up a map as compared to having a compass to follow?

The difference is glaringly obvious.

Well I'm not certain on order but I know what I like.

1. FF series (1-10)(my fav was probably 9 simly cos it was th first one I had)
2. C&C series (all of them)
3. WC3 (Obviously)
4. Oblivion + fallout 3 game of the year edition (Both equally epic imo)
5. EndWar (Omg I love voice control)
6. TETRIS (I added this one cos the theme is epic)

Again not certain on what order I don't like them in but oh well.

1. nothing
2. nothing
3. nothing
4. nothing
5. nothing

well thats a whole lot of nothing.
Guess I don't hate any games enough :p
oh these are out of the games I own btw.

Well, for example in Fallout 2 you had to go throught many different towns and cities to find out the location of Vault 13, rather than just have it pointed on your map. This made the game interesting and made it seem like you were actually digging information rather than just being guided to your location. Also Fallout 1&2 had no objective markers whatsoever. You had to check your mission progress to see where you were supposed to go.

I did not just mean the compass marker. I meant markers in general, including map markers. They make the game seem too guided and remove the feeling that you're actually doing something to get further.

How true , it is more funny to enter any town till you find the vault... like at NCR the guy who tells you where it is and its a false location , thats what i like on it , the NPC can be mean :D .
And on the other side , in Fallout 2 are many hidden things , for sample in Reno there shall be a easter egg that you can bring to your village and the Enclave will not come...
But i think Fallout 1 is more post-apo game ... there is it hard to find items , even a rope... all cities there are ruins... in Fallout 2 are places like Vault City , NCR , Broken Hills , where you dont feel the atmosphere , heh...

I disagree redscores - it should be both good graphics AND good gameplay. Like Final Fantasy.

Most games nowadays have awesome graphics and shit gameplay though, and I much prefer it the other way round - rather play some good old game than silly Lair.

Well, I am not after good graphics, they touch me not really, I like old games, they had that old school flair and had wonderful gameplay, just look at lufia, terranigma, and so on, you will understand if you play them :D.

I think graphics are no where near as important as gameplay.. aslong as the graphics are 3d with quality color, it should be fine.

...What, you both misunderstood me now?

I re-phrase: The very best games should have both good graphics AND good gameplay.

HOWEVER, gameplay is much more important than eyecandy.

Meh, I tend to put graphics all the way down to the bottom of the variables. There's only the slight exception where games look so terrible graphically that I couldn't possibly enjoy it, but that's mostly on the design side rather than the capabilities of the engine.

Gameplay > Storyline > Characters > Soundtrack > Length/Replayability > Community (goes for online only, I couldn't care less about the Final Fantasy community to be honest) > Strategical/Tactical elements and PvP > Is there more now? > Graphics

Which is pretty well reflected by adding Tibia, which is a 2D MMORPG from 1998, on my top 5 list. Admittedly, there is no soundtrack to it.. but hey, the gameplay is awesome, the community is awesome and the length is practically infinite (there are no boundaries, you can reach unlimited level and skill, earn unlimited amounts of gold/platinum/crystal ..) .. the storyline is neither the best nor the worst (you can pretty much choose whether or not you want to know the story, it's an Open RPG after all) and there are a bunch of interesting characters, in addition to your own and other players' of course.

Gameplay > Storyline > Characters > Soundtrack > Length/Replayability > Community (goes for online only, I couldn't care less about the Final Fantasy community to be honest) > Strategical/Tactical elements and PvP > Is there more now? > Graphics

My list goes:
Gameplay > Length Replayability > Strategical/Tactical elements and PvP > Community > Graphics > Soundtrack > Storyline > Characters

A few explanations on why I went with this order:
Storyline - I usually don't pay attention to storylines and have a habit of going straight to the Multiplayer. I don't know anything about Warcraft lore.
Soundtrack - I always play with my sound off (I'm used to playing while others are watching tv and I hate having background music while I watch a movie). I realize it adds to the experience and I love good game music though.

Games I liked that I have played:
- Super Smash Bros Brawl & Melee
- Warcraft III: Frozen Throne
- Pokémon Silver & Emerald (Silver was my first game)
- Timesplitters: Future Perfect
- Battle for Middle Earth II: Rise of the Witch King (although it had some annoying flaws in the balancing and coding had to be loaded from outside the map, which could crash games played afterwards if the prvious game had complicated coding)

I didn't like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare that much, because I was hoping for more strategy and teamplay.

Good old Ultima Online , its a MMORPG where it wasnt meant to be just senseless fighting with monsters and players, you dont even level up there (you train Strenght , Dexterity , Inteligence and other things)

I even heard when UO came out on the official server was a goal for the players to kill some main boss... In official version you could train just some things to 700 or 400 maybe... (Taming animals ,Using weapons , Martial Arts , Creating items... you could buy your house and create your own decorations)

Played that rpg on a server with a friend , its seriosly good , you can build your own house , give it to public , hire other players merchanters and make some money :)

Bad storylines or undefined characters ruin games for me.

Community? I don't give a flying shit. It's impossible for the whole community to be your classical retard/elitist. In WoW all I need is a good, small guild for 10 man raids, and in WC3 all I need is 3 or so active friends from the community.

Like:
1. Portal
Because it's addicting falling trough endless floors.

2. X-Blades
So what if it repetitive? Hot character, furious blades action, bouncing bewbiez.

3. Devil May Cry 3, 4
Serves as a timekiller now, but before, that was the only game I was playing.

4. Street Fighter 4
Nothing, NOTHING will ever change my mind about this game. Clear source of beat-em-up-s.

5. Collapse: Devastated Earth
I bet you never heard of this. Well, you should. Russians just know how to make an awesome game.

Hated:

1. IronmaN
I can believe I game my money for this PIECE OF CRAP!

2. Dawn of Magic
Fusing Diablo and Harry Potter? I laughed. Then cried.

3. Prison Break
I loved the series. Why did they have to do this to it?

4. Big Rigs
It's just laughable. I don't hate it, I just can't believe how can a game be so unfinished.

5. Half-Life 1
I. HATE. IT. I can explain why.
-Overrated
-So fast that it makes you sick
-Repetitive
-Overrated again
-Wow, Counter-Strike is awesome! I am uber l33t!
