Warcraft III: Reforged Patch Notes - Version 2.0

In the Art section of the Unit Editor between Orientation Interpolation and Projectile Impact - Z, the new option Portrait Model File should be visible and set to NONE by default.

I agree...at this point they should just hire the community to do it for them and let them do whatever they want....Perhaps there could be a petition about that, to get the message across...
Unfortunately they are too stupid and too proud to allow that.

This is a known issues that was even introduced before 2.0 (probably in 1.36).
Basically, when the game crash after doing the save-load thing, you'll see a critical error message that a particular file was corrupted (maybe the custom models).
But if you restart the computer after getting this kind of crash, then try to load that save, the problem is gone.
This is not true in my case. What happens is that when you reload a saved game of Gnoll Campaign, the animations of the units revived on the starting shore do not work anymore. Their walking animations do not play, and they like slide around. And when they are about to attack and the attack animation should play, the game crashes. Things do not work even after restarting the computer.

At this point, Blizzard desperately needs to prioritize putting out a "Classic" client for Warcraft 3. It doesn't even have to have online capability. Just do what the fans did and give people an "official" release of 1.27, or a smoothed out 1.31. The fanbase is already split into four different versions, why not reduce that down to 2? Way better than trying to corral everyone into one.

That is the standard for Blizzard remasters. Warcraft 1&2, Diablo 2, Starcraft and even World of Warcraft all do that. There's really no good reason Warcraft 3 shouldn't too.

THIS! Nobody talks about this, someone needs to fire good lawsuit at these criminals, because this is what they are doing for years since Reforged came, constantly false advertising without any proper punishments for their actions. And they earned millions.

True, but unfortunately, due to that nostalgia people will keep giving them money.

Blizzard using AI fake screenshots for this is a perfect summary of the current AAA gaming industry : even for such a tiny niche announcement (I mean Warcraft 3, not the franchise itself which is huge with WOW) they can't help but show how they think players are morons.
But majority of players are morons because they still hope and expect good news form Blizzard despite countless failure for years. You fool them for 10 times and he will jump in for 11. time like nothing happened before. Blizzard thinks that our communities are stupid, and that we are morons as they are constantly doing this. False advertising, each patch breaks more things than fixes, shitty half informed leaks etc... and the same pattern behavior for years. And people still expect something from them.

Oh well just wanted to test out the Chronicles of the Second War, but it's not doing so well after the 2.0 patch...
I still got the Horde Campaign to play and waiting on the Alliance Campaign so yeah...

This whole patch was a complete mess and people need to update their models and what not...

And no I am not complaining for Custom Campaign creators that worked their asses off and Activision/Blizzard/Microsoft just half-assed this patch and everything doesn't seem to work...

Gonna try out more Custom Campaigns and maps and see what broken and go from there...

I thought it is already known that unit portraits do not work with classic graphics anymore since 2.0.
Look at this:

Before the 2.0 patch it had the correct portrait model as far as I remember (long time ... :D).
Now it shows the standard Human building.
The same for Black Dragon Buildings etc.
Maybe it can be fixed by adding separate _Portrait files, I am not sure.

My graphics settings are purely Classic.
The bug also exists with mixed settings and btw. the lighting by Waygates etc. is far too bright:

but they messed up, I would imagine it was a family: dude, woman and 3 kids. but they added another villager in child size, instead of using the kid model lol.

Cool thing they finally removed the invulnerability of the npc's.
you can start purging before the purge is a thing XD

but they messed up, I would imagine it was a family: dude, woman and 3 kids. but they added another villager in child size, instead of using the kid model lol.

It is my own map: World of Warcraft Reforged 3.32
I just used it as an example for the issues.
I played it with 2.0 and used some mixed graphics settings (HD with classic) which adds the bright lighting.
The unit portrait bug happens with SD and HD and I cannot remember it happened before 2.0.

They added a new art field "Art - Portrait Model File" which allows to select a portrait file separately, so it's possible that with the patch it automatically assigned the portrait from the base unit in that field. So one should just need to select the new model portrait there to fix it.

Okay I did not know that. Then I might check all the object data and change it.
 
PSA for creators: seems the scale of some things has been modified, e.g. farms are now 0.85 instead of 1.00, and the size of custom units based on farms has been reverted to 0.85 retroactively, so you need to edit it back to whatever you want
Damn, why would they do that. So annoying. Thanks for letting us know. The Grunt is also at 1.1 scale, was this always like that or is this new too?
Edit: checked the 1.28 and it seems the grunt has always been at 1.1.

Isn't it possible that he would have to lie to you forever to remain safe? I surely don't know. I can't prove it is or is not that way. But isn't it possible?
No, no gag order. Loria went free in support of Liquidation Kickstarter. There is nothing more to it : )
 
F5 is to snap the camera back to original height, right?
before 2.0 it did it's job, but now I don't know who's correct. the height bar in options menu or F5?
because the options set me at one height and when I press F5 it lowers me, even though I have not touched the mouse wheel or anything else lol.
edit: height from menu is correct.
F5 ingame now lowers you for no reason lol.

The original title was "If I were to update Warcraft 3 Reforged 2.0, I would..." It is reported that this MOD is based on Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne, a true "2.0". - from the description. call me a hater or whatever, but that mod looks like shit, even more cartoony than the game is now, it really looks like a mobile game.

Yes it does look like shit, because it is a pre-alpha version of the mod or something like that. There are a lot of inconsistencies - some models aren't updated at all (cleric, druid, peasant, knight, neutral mobs, and all of the night elf units except heroes), while others are clearly imported from HOTS (footmen, riflemen, all heroes) and WOW (ghouls?). Also, some doodads, tilesets and building models are updated(imported) while others are clearly not. However, I should say that I favor this approach to graphical improvement much more than the current reforged approach, because it is more cartoony, more in line with Samwise Didier's style. I think that with some graphical changes and new model replacements for SD models this mod can be a real competitor to reforged.

The only official reason given for not having a classic client was it "wasn't in the budget." So the official answer is essentially "Blizzard was too cheap to do the bare minimum."

People should be screaming at Microsoft right now to end this legacy. They're mostly hands-off with their studios but this is the kind of thing people should step in for. Because I'm 100% sure whatever the budget is to fix it, it's laughably small given Blizzard's size and income.
